Mark Russel told me he was told by Editorial that Angel not being able to turn into Archangel was the status quo- said he didn’t need to explain it any more than Warren saying in the book “I can’t do that anymore” even tho X-Factor came out a week after Heir to Apocalypse concluded, a book which featured Archangel heavily. When I pushed back on the terrible answer he gave, he blocked me on Twitter 😑
i agree i told wes this awhile back - the dangers of this X-Men run coming back so fast we know the editorial staff has never really learned their Lesson from the krakoa era - and low key they are sliding Right back to the Numbers of books they had when it was at that krakon era , they not slick at all... they just re packaged them into something else. same mid card contributors gail seem to roll out pretty good but your gonna need like four gails to get them in a space of winning leverage w the fans ..
You guy here are so off... you just hate for hate's sake. X-Men Legacy by Carey, X-Factor by David, New X-Men by Kyle and Yost, Uncanny X-Force by Remender, Astonishing X-Men by Whedon...the list if good stuff goes on and on @@AL-ws5yi
guess i shouldn't be surprised that given your name that you're a little over-critical on some of these. Then again, given your experience with comics your opinion perhaps is a bit more valid than mine. All I will say, is that I'm enjoying this relaunch even though it certainly has some misses so far. And the only book I would like to defend, is Exceptional. For one, i think an X-Men book can absolutely have little to no fighting in an issue, especially given the type of story E. Ewing is attempting to write. Furthermore, I think the whole 'cosy' vibe to this series is really refreshing compared to all the doom and gloom the rest of the relaunch has felt like. It's completely fair to have your critique about Kitty being portrayed as the victim though, Ewing ought to tap more into her guilt and not just her PTSD.
I have been surprised by Saladin Ahmed's Daredevil and first issue of Wolverine. I find him to deliver far better work on characters he connects with than the characters he looked like. Some creatives have to rely on identity to get jobs, but I think Saladin was hampered by the types of characters he was offered.
I agree with the bad dialogue on Uncanny X-Men. But then, I could never get into Rogue saying “sugah” non stop. Being from MS, I’ve never ever heard a young female say that. 😂
The dialogue is terrible on UXM. Rogue and Wolverine seem to talk in dreamy sentences, Gambit doesn't really talk. I wanted to like that one but gave up after 2.
Civil War was not the first "superhero media stars." It's been going on since at least Justice League International in the 80s (Mark Gruenwald Squadron Supreme as well IIRC.)
Sucked way back then too. I think the only team to do it right as standalone work is Milligan and Allred on the X-Statix books. It’s fine as long as you think of it as self contained.
16:24, that straight-up looks like the band from that Dustborn game. I'm literally hearing that, "We're the Dustborn!" song they do from the clips I've seen on youtube in my head just looking at it. I feel like the South Park Boys in that episode when Steven Spielberg and George Lucas 🍇 Indiana Jones.
I liked Exceptional. I am younger and I think it worked for that audience. This new X-Men issue that came out today I think was the best one yet, but I’ve also liked it more
The only titles that have me consistently looking forward to subsequent issues are: Energon U (minus Scarlett) Conan Ghost Machine There is not a single Marvel or DC book currently running that I have an iota of excitement for. X-Men least of all, which sucks because I used to be a massive X-Men fan.
I read all 9 books and I would rank them almost exactly the same as you did. The only differences is that I had a higher opinion of Uncanny X-Men (I thought it was readable. I didn't think the dialogue or the Outliers were that bad), and I had a lower opinion of X-Force (In the whatever category for me, between X-Men and Phoenix. I just thought it was boring). The crazy thing about books like Exceptional X-Men and Nyx is that they were so obviously going to fail. Brevoort should know better.
Most of these stories will end up being mini series but they have even more ongoings announced. Wild man. But still hoping the cote X-Men books by Simone and Mackay become good.
I think X-Factor is a bit better than the hate it get. It is an average not gonna change your life comic, but reread X-Factor number 1 where it all started, you did not know you were going to get Apocalypse or the Cameron Hodge heal turn. It started off as a joke about a mutant removal service and then became great.
How do you feel about Storm #1 that came out today. Personally I loved it and found it to be a refreshing to see Storm struggle a bit. My number 1 book right now
I thought Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine, and NYX were the big standouts for me. Loved all three of those. I liked X-Men, Dazzler, and Phoenix. There's enough there to keep me coming back. I thought X-Factor, X-Force, and Exceptional were awful. And I love Forge as a character, but that book did nothing for me. It felt a bit all over the place.
UXM is actually quite boring, they're hanging out at a barn with dumb new characters and being bossed around by some old guy?? And the dialogue is awful. Ya Boi Zack hit the nail on the head when he said they all talk like 60 year old aunties. X-men is ok, so far.. but the recent one, #4. I got the impression that the bad guys were a take on youtubers like Wes, Nerdrotic, Drinker etc. I could be off base there. Anyone else see that?
None of books interests me. No more X-Men for me.NEVERMORE. I'm pretty sure that this new Era will be a huge failure. Marvel biggest mistake wasn't have rebooted Krakoa Era for good. No way the X-Men can truly be themselves again while Krakoa be part of 616 canon. I salute you Wes for reading all this garbage to review here in the channel.
This absolutely absurd and abysmal! Unreadable but at this point who’s really surprised with lame, lethargic editorial decisions by Round boy, Tom Brevoort who is incredibly useless and needs to be fired sooner than later! I’ve been reading X-men since the Neal Adams era and read the Kirby/Lee tales as reprints through out the years! The New X-men hit full throttle showing the untapped potential and the sky was the limit! That is NO longer the case as shown by multiple Xtitles with a multitude of some of the boring un creative needy trendiod crap which is an okey-dokey cash grab! Every single one of these clowns 🤡 needs to be fired and banned from mainstream comics forever! On a great note they are saving me quite a lot of money and so it’s not all bad news! TG for indie comics! RIP X-men 🙏
X-Force/X-Statix has already mastered satire of using social media to promote superheroes. It doesn't need to be done again, expect by the original creators. X-Cellent did a great new iteration of this concept. Even fit the ADHD mood of today. This vol of X-Factor is unnecessary.
I am glad I only got X-Men 1 by Kelly Thompson....never read since Scarlett was 1/2 ass at best.....it sounds like marvel has Kathleen Kennedy the X-Men which might be salvageable...
Just move everything from whatever to flaming dogshit amd you're there. It's a horrible time for xmen. And it was bad before but now ..... dead in the water.
Those last few were hilarious, why on earth would they even publish them? It would be far better not to publish them at all, they do far more damage than had they not existed at all.

Classic Krakoa writer mentality.
It’s such a bad time to be an X-Men fan, probably the worst time ever. This is the worst era in X-Men history.

I’d agree with you, if I believed you had ever read an X-Men comic in your life.

Sad to see x-men fall so far. I’m done mostly with all marvel at this point.
Plot twist: they're all tied for "worst"
I have been surprised by Saladin Ahmed's Daredevil and first issue of Wolverine. I find him to deliver far better work on characters he connects with than the characters he looked like. She has been saying that since the 80s, since her first appearance in Avengers annual 10
The dialogue is terrible on UXM. Rogue and Wolverine seem to talk in dreamy sentences, Gambit doesn't really talk. I wanted to like that one but gave up after 2.

Awesome work guys
For me the worse thing on this new era is there are too many new characters for me to care and many of the classics that i care missing.
Ranking Every From The Ashes Book From *Not Terrible To *Unreadable.
12:18 this exactly. This is why i cannot get behind the X Men brand anymore.
Yes, Kitty and all the rest of them. I just cannot see any these characters like heroes anymore.
I liked Exceptional. I am younger and I think it worked for that audience. This new X-Men issue that came out today I think was the best one yet, but I’ve also liked it more
Jonathan Hickmann run was the last time i gave X Men a chance. It seems i Will stay away from the x books for a long time 😢😢😢😢😢
I never will read another X book again while Krakoa be part of the canon.
those last FOUR? wes is so right I gotta rock w this
Which X-Men From the Ashes book is bad is like asking which is the cleanest part of a turd to touch.

Charles Soules Astonishing X-Men was the last X book I read and it was decent. Most X books have been pretty shit post-Claremont.
Why would you do that to yourself??
This is how he makes his money.
How do you feel about Storm #1 that came out today. Personally I loved it and found it to be a refreshing to see Storm struggle a bit. My number 1 book right now
Dialogue in Uncanny is... Less than stellar. Its been my biggest issue thus far.

IS Forge collecting the Dragon Balls?
for me.. from what ive read its exceptional, storm, x-men, uncanny and wolverine
1. Wolverine
2. Uncanny
3. X-men
4. X-factor
5. X-force
6. Exceptional x-men
Not reading the other books.
Best....WOLVERINE
I've no problem with Cain rolling with them & he's more then earned it!
He's more worthy than half of the villains they welcomed on Krakoa.

Furries can be devout Catholic, I don't think it fits nightcrawlers character tho
That sounds so paradoxal though. Like being a anti-gamer being a devout gamer.
You can dress up in the costumes with out doing all the degen stuff lol, I see Kurt as more of a Rens Fair kind of guy anyways
And now we got 2 more and another next week.
