Hi Veronica. And THANK YOU. Unlike some of the other videos here you've got it all 100% RIGHT and ACCURATE. And you are very clear too - Brita should get YOU to re-write their miserable Instruction sheet! So Thanks Again.

Thank you so much for this comment and I could not agree more with regards to plastics. I know lots of people buy bottled water because it tastes better but I think you can get great tasting water from the tap + using a water filter if it really does have a strong taste.
Great video. I just picked mine up a while ago, spent time going through the manual, got more confused, came to UA-cam and found your easy to set up video. I was thinking that they should probably just put a link to you video on the instruction manual 😂
Haha thank you so much for your comment - honestly when I opened the instructions and unfolded them to see they were taller than me, I knew I had to break it down and do a video on this 🙈
You dont have to keep the jug in a refrigerator. It can be left on a counter as so long the room temperature is between 12-17 degrees Fahrenheit. Also remember to not only replace the filter monthly but also (warm soap or use lemon) to wash the inside of the jug.
Thank you for adding this info! I personally refrigerate mine because this is what the user manual says: “We recommend that you store your Brita system in the refrigerator to get cold, great-tasting water” but I googled it before I made this video and found people complaining that they left theirs on the counter and it grew mold. So I preferred to recommend to just follow the manual 😅 Also totally agree about washing between each filter like I show on the video - this *entire* process needs to be followed every single time the filter is changed. It’s easy to be a bit lazy but it’s not worth neglecting it and getting sick...!!

Ooh good idea, I will try to film a quick one on it. In the meantime I would advice that you take the filter cartridge out, then use hot and soapy water with a non-abrasive sponge to wash it. Thank you for your help, I followed the instructions first time and the water tasted funny , I rinsed the filter again and mine was floating it wouldn't sink to the bottom like yours I tried it with a new filter and it worked great 👍
I just bought one coz i needed a water jug but the filter was a bonus. I watched some yt videos about if these filters really work and they don't so my question is are they working for you? I dont wanna keep buying filters when they dont work and just use the jug instead.
Yes in my opinion they do work. I don’t know the percentage of things removed from the tap water, but going by taste alone I’d say there’s definitely an improvement when using these jugs. Next I’m going to get the filter that goes on the actual faucet soon to compare… because that would be a lot easier than using the jugs if it works as well.
Brita says you can put the jug and reservoir in the dishwasher, BUT NOT THE LID. However, they also mentioned something about not putting in the d/w with dirty items, so probably best to wash the whole lot separately!
No it doesn't! The little bars on the lid go down one by one over the period of a month. Once you have no bars left, you should change the filter. So, "standard" usage you should change every month but if you use it a lot then change more often.
My water has an extremely strong metallic taste but after I put it through the Brita filter, it tastes "neutral" or like just regular plain water. If you are still having a very strong taste in your water even after using the filter, then I think you should look up the water quality in your area. In the U.K. you can google this and get a detailed report for the area you live in, but not sure if this is available everywhere. Here, they make all the info public as to the % of all minerals, how hard your water is etc
Haha I took one for the team with this one - the instructions unfolded and it was bigger than me!!! Honestly they make it complicated than it needs to be lol
Hello! Great video, I just got one of these. So, if I understand it correctly you have to rinse it two times and throw out that water every single time before you can use it and drink the water. Or is it just for the first time? Thanks!
Hi and thanks for your comment ☺️ So you only need to do this rinse & discard water process when you change the cartridge and put in a new one. So, once a month give or take! Hope that helps!
Thank u so much ,u helped me a lot , but do i have to leave it in the fridge though?? Coz i don't drink cold water my teeth are very sensitive.. please reply .thx 😘
Why should the filtered water go into the refrigerator? It's cold out and I'd rather like to have room temperature water. Can't I leave the purifier out on the table?
I was wondering the same thing and literally spent an hour googling it. The Brita website says "fill to the max line" but I don't see a max fill line on it anywhere... So, I fill the top filter once, let the water filter through, then fill the top part again. I believe this is ok because the product description says this: "1.4 Litre filtered water capacity, 2.4 Litre total capacity" so I think the idea is you filter it once, and then you fill the top part so that it automatically re-fills the bottom filtered part as you drink it. Hope this helps!
I looked for the video you mentioned in this video, but couldn't find it: Where can I find a video about how to put Brita into the fridge without looking clattered?
Hi! I store the filter in the door to my fridge - I have a really compact fridge so it goes in sideways. Then, I put other bottles next to it like my sodastream sparkling water and wine 🙈 I don't think I have a video where I show the actual filter in there, but I'll make a note to film that next time I do a fridge cleaning video!
The filter doesn’t go all the way down, a few millimeters remain between bottom of filter and plastic bottom of the jug insert. Water collects there, is this normal? Even in your video I can see the same problem. Look at 2:16, there’s a gap between filter and bottom of jug insert, it doesn’t go all the way down.
Yes it’s totally normal!! Another commenter asked the same thing and we both googled it and it’s supposed to be like that. If I remember correctly it’s to prevent water from stagnating there or something like that!
@@veronicataylorsfp I have the Marella xl jug. It has the gap which I mentioned above, between filter and jug. That gap fills with water which stagnates there. You mentioned keeping the filtered water in the refrigerator but I read to not leave the jug full of water and to pour it into another container. How long can the jug fit empty between refills? And do you have to resoak the filter each time?
Is that normal that some water is around the filter all the time and should I remove it every time? Lol just got mine yesterday and tap in London comparing to tap from this jug taste much better
Yes it’s normal apparently! We checked (and there’s another commenter who even contacted Brita to ask lol). Every time you refill the jug, that little bit of water is automatically filtered through so it’s only there for as long as you take between adding more water! You’re so right though the water with this jug is so much better - it doesn’t have any flavor, which is just how water should be ...!!
Hey! I’m profoundly deaf and have been following your video using captions. I was wondering if 2:15 is meant to say, you know ‘you’ve put water fiktrt into place correctly is if you once you start filling with water - the water does not come through the middle. As whatever i do - mine only comes through the middle !! Appreciate your inputs
Hi! Ok so I just re-watched that part to be sure, and indeed what you are doing is correct. So, you *want* water to come through the middle hole (that's where the water trickles down into the pitcher). So if water does not go through then the cartridge is in wrong, and therefore it sounds like yours is doing exactly what it should be doing ☺️
Hi, no in theory you should only need to replace the filter every month or so. If you use it *a lot* though then you might want to replace it sooner, but they say for most people, every month is fine ☺️
Hi, if you mean you want to restart the countdown for when you need to change the filter - you just hold down the "start" button until all of the bars flash, then you're ready to go. If you need to actually change the entire timer itself then Brita will send you a replacement for free. Just contact them via their website or by phone (Phone: +44 344 742 4800) www.brita.co.uk/contact
My research suggests that you should *not* put hot water through the filter. The Brita website says this about faucet filters, and I believe this also likely applies to the water jug filter: Don’t filter water that is over 38°C/100°F. Hot water may release some contaminants that could be found in your tap water. Also, running hot water through the unit can severely diminish the system’s filtration abilities.
Now that I’ve been using it for a few weeks I definitely am glad to have it. My water tasted “neutral” now if that makes sense plus even my coffee is coming out better if I use the filtered water!
Has anyone having black particles in the water after filtering? this is just started happening to our jug....I am not sure if it is safe to drink? I will appreciate with your comments...Thank you
Yes mine did this too. Like Toby mentioned in his reply to your comment, the manual says these are fine to drink. Personally, I ran the filter again one extra time and the second time there was nothing in there. But according to Brita's manual this is normal and you can drink it...
Does the filter deteriorate in quality regardless of how much or how little you use it? So for argument sake, if I put in a new filter, start the timer for 100%, and then not use it at all for 4 weeks, is it still safe?
I followed the instructions, but the water is not coming down to pitcher. It's as though its stuck. It came down to the pitcher for two times and then got stuck! I need some help with this.
Hey there, that's definitely not normal. If you are still having issues with it I would first check to make sure your filter is installed correctly. Take the filter out, shake it, and push it firmly back into place. If that doesn't work then you might have a defective filter!
Hi Veronica, how much water can the top funnel hold? Can it really filter 1.4l of water (in one go) as it indicates so? Thanks! I have the other model - Style - and was disappointed that it could not filter 1.4L like it says so. After 1L filtered, it cannot filter the remaining 400ml. Unfiltered water gets stuck in the top funnel, it then gets poured out as well when pouring - ends up with pouring both unfiltered & filtered water mixing it all up! Urgh!
I am pretty sure it does indeed do 1.4L capacity for filtered water! I have heard of previous models mixing filtered w/unfiltered (which totally defeats the purpose...) water and it was due to the design of the filter being kind of flawed. As long as you buy a recent version (which has been redesigned) you should be ok. My filter definitely doesn't mix them!
I think I didn't shake it well because when I put the filter in the jar and put water o it, there's bubbles coming out the filter. I put & throw the water 3 -4 times instead of 2 times but there's still bubbles coming out. Is it safe to drink the water?

How do you change the battery for the timer?
Hi, if you mean you want to restart the countdown for when you need to change the filter - you just hold down the "start" button until all of the bars flash, then you're ready to go. If you need to actually change the entire timer itself then Brita will send you a replacement for free. Just contact them via their website or by phone (Phone: +44 344 742 4800) www.brita.co.uk/contact
@@veronicataylorsfp Wow thank you so much for your help. Hope you have a wonderful day
Hi Veronica. Do you know and can share about the light indicator? Mine does not work, is it an issue? Brita type
Marella 3,5L
Possible to hot water filter?
My research suggests that you should *not* put hot water through the filter. The Brita website says this about faucet filters, and I believe this also likely applies to the water jug filter: Don’t filter water that is over 38°C/100°F. Hot water may release some contaminants that could be found in your tap water. Also, running hot water through the unit can severely diminish the system’s filtration abilities.
Veronica is sooo cute!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I think I need to invest in one!
I will appreciate with your comments...Thank you
There was something in the manual about those particles being safe to ingest
Yes mine did this too. Like Toby mentioned in his reply to your comment, the manual says these are fine to drink. Personally, I ran the filter again one extra time and the second time there was nothing in there. But according to Brita's manual this is normal and you can drink it...
Thank you for the video !
My pleasure!
Thanks
@@veronicataylorsfp thank you for your reply!
Hi , Veronica , where I buy water filter in Hong Kong.
Hi John, you can buy the jug online, or in almost all home goods stores. Where I live, I can also buy them in the grocery store!!
I think I didn't shake it well because when I put the filter in the jar and put water o it, there's bubbles coming out the filter. I put & throw the water 3 -4 times instead of 2 times but there's still bubbles coming out. Is it safe to drink the water?
Very helpful, thank you
