    Txv wide open high suction. txv closed low suction but normal subcool most of the time. I've changed compressors due to dirty indoor coil bringing liquid back and snapping compressors.

  • @joecooksey4331
    @joecooksey4331 2 роки тому +3

    You could have checked that TXV by unplugging the condenser fan and watching the suction pressure as the high pressure goes up. If the low side is stable the TXV is working.

    What if the bulb isn’t wrapped what about tapping the txv to maybe break it loose so many steps to take before adding refrigerant that head pressure is so high it might not have even been tested at that high of a pressure

    • @Falcon-eh8tq
      @Falcon-eh8tq 2 роки тому +2

      True, to me if i saw that subcooling of 17F on a system running all day but the superheat is at 50 I'd run the system with the blower door off and no filter (not in the attic..) and see if the TX valve can regulate.. vapor line temperature is high causing the misreading on SH due to lack of airflow.. first clue was the customer going on about pleated filters and MERV ratings.. But then again you can only do so much with guys that call you up then when you show up are skeptical of the evidence right in front of them..
      But if you look at the coil and it's a block of ice its all a waste of time until its melted off the coil. Run the heat for 15 25 minutes.. With a customer like that who knows what theyve messed with lol

  • @ivancook1247
    @ivancook1247 2 роки тому +4

    Just because outside unit says txv , don't mean crap, I think you should make sure what your working with first, but damn thing in the attic , I don't blame you, but head pressure pretty high , and subcool pretty high

Sense he’s retired I’d check to see if he inadvertently choked airflow by closing off supply registers in empty rooms thinking it would cool more efficiently.
