    I have the Reynolds freezer paper from the grocery store, and the box says it is Plastic coated...not Wax. Sticks great! I ran some through my printer and no problems.

      Thanks Stephanie. We have patterns at the store but do not have kits available anymore. It is a great scrap buster and most of the pieces are no bigger than 10 inches but many of them are smaller so it would be a great way to go through your scraps.
      Here is pattern link. It is an expensive pattern but it has 12 different patterns included in the set.

    Hi, I think you missed the step re: printing the pattern onto freezer paper to use it as a template. I've rewound a few times to check, but nothing there mentions how to print/copy it. Also, how many times should you re-use the same freezer paper template? Hope someone can help/answer these questions, please.

    • @TheSewingPalace
      @TheSewingPalace  5 років тому +5

      Carol Wood Sorry that step is not clear. I usually take the pattern cut it out of my original and use 505 spray and adhere the pattern to the paper side of the freezer paper. You can also use a lightbox and trace your pattern onto the paper side of the freezer paper. What is nice is you can use the freezer paper several times since you are not Sewing through it. I can usually get five blocks out of one freezer paper pattern. I hope that helps.

    Don’t you think you owe at least a little thanks to Judy mathieson for pioneering this exact technique and making it famous in the 1980s/1990s? Maybe I just missed it, but I did not hear even a slight a mention of her in the video. I still use her books as my go to source of info for freezer paper piecing, especially for mariners compass.

      A big thank you to the smart quilters out there that share techniques. Thanks JUDY!! The person in this video literally came up with this technique herself and modified it to work with a BERNINA edgestitch #10 foot. That's the wonderful thing about quilters is they are such creative and smart people we think of alike things! Thanks for sharing

    Hello Sewing Palace, I've watched a couple of times and still can't figure out how you got the pattern transferred to the freezer paper. Did you use a copy machine? Or trace it on by hand? Sorry, I feel a little silly but just wondering what I'm missing here. This is a gorgeous quilt BTW. I do a lot of FPP but had never heard of this "paperless" method where I don't have to pull papers off the back when I'm done. I'm so going to try this!! Thank you for this interesting tutorial.

    • @RayVyn64
      @RayVyn64 6 років тому

      If you have an inkjet printer I know you can print it out on the freezer paper..like if you were printing it on regular paper. I'm not sure about copier machines. Someone else probably knows the answer to that.

      On the package of Freezer Paper Sheets (by C. Jenkins) it says to use INKJET copiers/printers. I'm assuming the heat from a laser copier/printer would activate the "stickiness" of the freezer paper & make a mess. You need to copy/print your design on the "dull" side - the shiny side is the side you press to fabric using low heat of an iron. The sheets are 54 lb paper which prevents rolling & curling as it goes through your inkjet copier/printer. It is much heavier & also a bit stickier than the grocery store freezer paper but is the same idea. If you have grocery store freezer paper & want to try the method out, I'd trace a simple paper-pieced design onto the dull side & proceed as in the tutorial - sewing next to the folded line. It's a great method - hope you like it! Hope this helps. Faith

    ok I am confused... where does the freezer paper come in at? I see the "pattern" that you are folding using the template plastic, but I don't know where the freezer paper plays a role in this technique.. Did you attach (iron on) the freezer paper to the template or what?

    • @TheSewingPalace
      @TheSewingPalace  4 роки тому +1

      Mary Cody The pattern is attached to the freezer paper or you can trace your pattern onto the paper side (not the waxed side) of the freezer paper. She is folding the freezer paper in the video.

    • @TheSewingPalace
      @TheSewingPalace  6 років тому +1

      Katie Bitomske Good question. You can either trace the pattern on the freezer paper or you can cut the pattern out from the original pattern and adhere it to the paper side of the freezer paper.

    • @katiebitomske9291

      Katie Bitomske, she said you do not need to copy. You can use a copy machine to copy the pattern onto the freezer paper also. If you buy the package of freezer paper that is cut to standard paper size, you can put it through a copy machine much easier to transfer the pattern. Much less time consuming as well, rather than tracing everything.
