What a surprise to be invited to record with Guitar World Magazine. The first tribute to ever be included in the USA's best-selling guitar magazine. To say I'm honored is an understatement.
Saw these guys play recently, they are incredible. If you get a chance, there's no better Metallica experience, especially for the early stuff. Their attention to detail and precision on stage is amazing. The drummer and bass player are both just as great. Love that they're getting some exposure, they work their asses off!
Loved this! Been a fan of T4H since 2010 and love how you’ve grown. Loved to see how you break down the various riffs and just makes me appreciate your skill even more.
The Four Horsemen is one of the best and most consistent tribute bands in existence. Probably the best I have heard for Metallica. A lot of people who have never tried a full band cover underestimate this band and call their songs easy. To everyone criticizing the playing: can't wait to see your Metallica cover video where you nail it 100% bro
Got to see these guys in Asheville NC last year and they absolutely killed it! Great energy and great classic Metallica. Awesome to see them doing this for Guitar World. I hope to see another one of their shows soon!
THE FOUR HORSEMEN!!!! FUCK YES!!! I'VE seen snd hung out with these dudes! At their show they missed ONE thing, and that was the drummer missed a stop. But they NAILED the shit! I was an expert on their stuff, they called me "Metalli-Kev" for years.
Ain't My Bitch and Fuel are so much fun when you take them as they are and recognize they are not meant to be groundbreaking or progressive or whatever. They're just fun bops.
I know Luke (left) personally. World class player and such a humble dude! One of the coolest dudes I know! By the way, he brought that Jackson for me to try out before they played their set in Warrendale, PA last year. That guitar is sick!
Gotta love the critics on here. This band is gigging 2 -3 times a week, some large venues most could only dream of playing, have a fan base over forty one thousand (including international). They are packing venues. You don't get that kind of adulation and those gigs playing "wrong". The lead singers shirt says it all "They hate us cause they ain't us".
I was 8 going on 9 when Master of puppets came out so I was a little too young to know Metallica but I had an older sister who bought some Metallica tapes. She had Kill em all and Master of Puppets
great vid you guys so ispired by your playing I'm 55 and just started playing and I'm struggling but love it Load almost killed me my 1st metallica show was with cliff back in 86 in Minneapolis,. changed my life. please come to Duluth mn you can stay at my house. cheers
That’s badass… I’ve seen them a few times. They put on a hell of show. Shout out to Drew Pencook their dummer. All amazing musicians! Happy Holidays guys.
I used the Spark Mini and my lead guitarist used his Kemper. We had to get into NYC and there was no parking anywhere near where we were going to be, so I decided to bring that mini. It was pretty cold, windy and we walked about 2 city blocks with our guitars and those two heads. No way I wanted to bring my actual head and walk with all that weight. The audio does sound a bit off from the video and sounds compressed but they may have had to do that to the entire recording. The Mini sounds really good for a tiny little practice amp. We both jam it on the road cuz it's so easy to just set it on the floor and plug in a guitar cable. Battery powered unit makes it quick and easy. Tone and volume is quite impressive.
@mesaboogie4x12 wow, thanks for taking the time to let me know! Ya'll should do more vids explaining your techniques/ Stage gear and so forth! I learned a lot from this video! Thank you! I don't blame ya for not wanting to carry all that gear, but it sounds killer on the vid!
@@martin42382 you're welcome. We are just entertainers, no egos or rockstar attitude. I may just do a video with a gear rundown and upload to the band channel. I have three weeks off before we start up shows for 2025, so I have some time. Thanks for the idea and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! We were joking around a lot while recording it and had the Guitar World guys laughing constantly. It really was fun!
My guitars are custom built. DB Originals is the name of the company. They're a two-man business. Dave Felton the lead guitarist of Mushroomhead is one of the builders. He's been a friend of mine since the late 90's. I wanted a 24-fret guitar with a deep cut out for the higher register and a Floyd Rose. I added glow in the dark fret markers in certain positions. We play a lot of stages and some of the lighting techs black out while we're soloing which I can't stand - so I can see my fret markers if that happens and try to stay on the correct frets during those instances. The white guitar also has its volume knob up on the wing. I did this for when we play Eye of the Beholder. I can reach the volume with my left hand and slowly gain it up when we do the intro of that song so it's like the album. We try to be as close to the albums as possible. It's not 100% but then again, no one is. Our show is very high energy and crowd-engaging. It's a ton of work every week, but a lot of fun when we're on stage.
@@bigtimerusher9719 I used to front a Megadeth tribute. I get people telling me I sound more like Dave than James and I think that is a very accurate statement. I take it as a compliment. Love Megadeth as well! Met Dave 2 times and he was very cool to me.
@@bigtimerusher9719 Obviously I love James' voice, or I wouldn't be fronting a Metallica tribute for nearly 20 years now but I can't change my vocal cords (though I have wished I could!) - but that's great if you can get his timber vocally and also play the same way he does with your pick! I know I don't hold my pick or strum the way James does. I do my best to get the sound accurate and that is not easy. He is just a master at the down picking! I hope whatever you're doing in music, you have fun and are successful with it!
They're not playing the riff to Metal Militia correctly. It's played lower on the fretboard and the single string section ends with a pull off to the open D string.
They're good. But Scream Inc. definitely beats them in my honest opinion. Their live performances on Metallicas song sound unbelievable and very similar to the way Metallica plays live
These guys looks pretty cool but lot of mistakes here :/ This is not the way James and Kirk play lot of riffs showed in this video... :/ Dyers Eve riff is wrong - To Live Is To Die is wrong - One is wrong - Fade To Black is wrong - The Struggle Within is wrong. Lot of people will take this for true and it's not. Maybe some channels are better for Metallica things.
I saw The Four Hoursemen and Metallica a few months apart. The Four Horsemen were more intense and put on a better show! These guys played only the old stuff - what the fans actually want to hear! Metallica played only a few good songs. It seemed they were playing whatever songs THEY felt like, not what WE wanted. Probably because they’re bored of playing the same thing all the time. The stadium was sitting down for half the set it was so boring. The Four Horsemen play small to medium size venues with live cabinets. So you can actually see them and feel the music. Metallica use in ear monitors and a silent stage. So the closer you get the weaker they sound. And if you don’t have good seats then you’re just watching the big screens. I thought to myself that I would rather be home watching them on UA-cam.
I'm sorry but a Hetfield "More Beer!" Explorer HAS to be with a TOM bridge and 22 frets. These guys play great but there's still some parts they're not nailing 100%. Kudos for them for exposing more people to Metallica tho.
Nobody, especially live, is going to notice them not playing these songs 100% accurate except maybe a handful of guitarists. Music can be fun and doesn't have to be an exact science. Everyone can recognize what they're playing
Because you can see an amazing live rendition AND the energy of EARLY Metallica at a fraction of the cost of concert tickets for the original artists. Plus original artists don't perform in many areas that tribute bands will go to.
What a surprise to be invited to record with Guitar World Magazine. The first tribute to ever be included in the USA's best-selling guitar magazine. To say I'm honored is an understatement.

Saw them in Derry NH a couple weeks back. Great show. Lead guitarist had incredible energy

Killer band, I have seen the multiple times
Load was my first metallica album so - idgaf about the change in sound. I went backwards much later.
If no one has seen this band before I highly and I mean highly recommend it !!
Great players and dudes

What amp is being used in this video? Excellent video! They explained a lot!
Spark Mini I think, mentioned in the video around 26-27m.
