But to be fair I'm new to all this so it can get a bit overwhelming having so many people tell you what to do but at the same time not being as descriptive as you were. It helps a lot especially for newcomers. Approaching it in a "newby" sort of mindset. I don't really want to overly mod RDR2 either. But I feel the base wanted and law systems in the game are... not great.. especially when I didn't actually commit a crime. So that's something I'm hoping I can fix. As well as give Arthur more clothing options. Mans gonna die might as well die in style. Thanks for the vid.
I got my first gaming pc a couple months ago and I'm just now getting into modding. Started a few days ago, actually. I really wish I came across this video before I began modding rdr2 for the simple fact that no one else mentioned taking a screen shot of the game root files and creating a separate folder for mods you've downloaded, and I obviously didn't think of it myself. Now that things are starting to make more sense, it's obvious that modding the hell out of this game, awesome as it is, will pose an issue playing online with friends, which I definitely planned on doing. Hopefully I'm not too far gone and can go back and follow your steps to make things easier in the future. Thank you for the wonderfully comprehensive and easy to follow tutorial! Cheers fam :D
@dissecthem I've been experiencing the same issue. I want to try a few mods that require lml. I saw if you download and add lml to the root folder and then put the mods that require lml into that folder it's supposed to run lml mods with the mods in this tutorial but thus far I've had no luck and it seems no one else knows either.

I think it's worth mentioning that trainers are mods and not strictly necessary for modding, except in the case of mods which specifically have them as a requirement. I know a lot of people use and enjoy trainer mods, but they're not *inherently* necessary.
I've only ever played Warhammer games with mods from Steam. I'm surprised how many steps and hoops there are to jump through to use a mod. Guess I took it for granted, but regardless, this is a fantastic tutorial. Thank you very much!
easier solution for going online would be rather than deleting the files, move them into a separate folder away from RDR2 directory when you want to start up multiplayer, and then move them back when you wanna mod the single player again
Thanks! Helped a lot I beat both Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption II. so I started downloading mods I found one tutorial how to download mods but it did not explain how to open the folder.
Wait so after you do just these things, do you download the mod you want like a clothing mod and add it to the mod folder and then add it to the rdr2 folder? Also are mods mentioned just for the game to process all future downloaded mods? I'm new to the mod world and want thee knowledge :)
I followed every step meticulously, scripthook and rampage along with the other mods of my choice all copied into my root folder with the .exe file. Opened the game and no changes whatsoever. I'm on Epic games btw
when you downloading scripthook? click download, after that choose "Script Hook RDR2 with the Native Trainer are finally released ! Have fun !" and click download again

Hello! I have attempted to try and follow these directions but when I try to paste the mods into the folder something pops up about verification, I verified it and the list didn't pop up when I started up the game
I've watched several videos on how to mod this game. Followed every instruction to the absolute letter....and none of them have worked. None. Feels like something being left out or the instructions are not clear in a step by step fashion. No idea what's going wrong, but literally none of them have worked....
A bit late to the party- can you upload a screenshot of your vanilla/default root folder? I installed mods/scripthooks ages ago and I'm unsure if R* games' launcher deletes them or cloud saves your root folder on an uninstall/reinstall. I never even thought to screenshot when I started modding ages ago. Thanks!!
This is the best tutorial I've seen on mod installation for RDR2. Other videos go too fast and/or skip steps, but you are thorough.
