A university is an institution of higher learning where students can learn and study. Individuals cannot achieve success unless they receive quality education. University institutions have increased in number from around 30 in the 1960s, when the first African countries gained independence, to more than 600 in the 2000s. Many African countries have a diverse range of universities that strive to meet global standards in research, science, and innovation. Have you ever wondered which country in the West African region has the best universities? It is normal to know that Ghana and Nigeria are the giants of West Africa. Which one of these giants has the best university? In today’s video, we will bring out the differences to know which of these countries has the best universities. Years of university study
In Ghana, the educational system is now divided into six years of primary school, three years of junior secondary school, three years of senior secondary school, and four years of university leading to a Bachelor's degree. All first degree programs of study are four (4) years in length, with the exception of the Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programs.
In Nigeria is organized into three levels: bachelors, masters, and doctoral studies. Furthermore, certificate and diploma programs are available at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Bachelor's degrees generally require four years of full-time study. Similarly to Ghana, the educational system is now structured as a 6-3-3-4 structure, with six years of primary school, three years of junior secondary school, three years of senior secondary school, and four years of university leading to a Bachelor's degree. However, due to the prevalence of strikes that can last more than a semester, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Nigeria may take several years longer. Ghana has the best education in West Africa.
You are making a conjecture. You have no idea what University education is like in Nigeria. Nigeria has 100 private universities of international standards that have undergrafuates more than all the universities in West Africa put together. Never in your life compare your country with Nigeria in university education . It makes you people sound laughable. The dysfunctional public universities does not represent all that Nigerian university education is all about.

When it comes to second cycle and university education, don't waste your time comparing Ghana to Nigeria. Ghana has gotten to a different level, both private and public.

@Captain Fish Nigeria has 109 private universities of international standards with more students than in all of West African u iversities put together. Nigerians who are studying in Ghana are doing so, not because we don't have good schools. Some people just want to travel.

How many Ghanaians hav u seen on UA-cam comparing Ghana to nigeria. Since nigerian youth discovered ghana, they cannot hav enough of ghana. They r so crazy about ghana. Correction: There are more private universities than public universities in Nigeria. Nigeria currently has more than 100 private universities that do not go on strike at all. Emphasis have moved away from public universities.

By emphasis, I meant families making educational decision for their children. Private Universities are independent of government . Only the very poor send their children to public universities now. With government loan , all public universities will pack up because the 100 plus private universities are very good.

Private Universities in Nigeria are of international standards and just as expensive as going abroad. Hence , many Nigerians chose to take the money abroad instead because of the big names of those universities. However, the majority of Nigerians who can afford the money chose to stay back at home
