Poor hope. It’s concerning that the DR told her she didn’t think the pill was a good option. If my daughter went to the drs to get some form of protection, I’d be happy that I’d at least done something right to make her realise that protection is key.
It’s not concerning at all. She’s 13, from experience hormone based contraceptives at a young age does terrible things to a girls body and h the way don’t protect you from an STI. Condoms are a much safer option

I wouldn’t really recommend the pill to a 13 year old either. While I’m glad she’s taking precautions, the pill is a bit more serious for a 13 year old than a grown woman preventing a conception. It is around this time where Hope may have only had her period for about a year and keeping track of start, end dates and flow is crucial to ensure a healthy cycle. The pill affects that and could lead to complications down the road.
I can see that, although from how she's talking, she's potentially going to be having sex in the not too distant future, and by shoving condoms at her instead, the doctor has put hope in a position where she's dependent on the male to actually put it on, which is hugely disempowering. As is the fact that the doctor doesn't really explain to hope why she's giving he condoms instead of the pill.
Why does literally every young woman in corrie get pregnant?

The true & frustrating part in all this is that ck does are reliant on the male to put on…at least of she was on the pill she’d be in control of that aspect, but yet again we see the girl come 2nd.
