No one did the theme of the met gala even if some were nice.
Zendaya did the theme. The deep blue in her gown is indicative of the evening sky under which beauties sleep. The use of the feather in her fascinator "reawakens" that style from the past. And the green blue color combo is reminiscent of beautiful peacocks that were popular on the estates of the wealthy from the past.
Others did as well. Mindy Kaling said the designer even called her gown's color the color of "wilting flowers." The impermanence and fading of the fabric in "fashion beauties" is the whole point of her whole look. It is reawakened/placed front and center with the literally over the top graceful head-covering of the fabric literally "raised" from "sleep."
At least one other attendee wore a gown that was tattered in places, particularly at the hem to show the older/"sleepy" beauty has been awakened to grace a public event yet again.
And so on.
