  • Full Custom Ian Roussel Rebuilds The Rear Window And Top Section Of A 1940-41 Chevy Chop Top 🤓
We had a wind event out here in the wild Mojave Desert, and it ruined, or almost ruined one of Ian's projects, a 1941 Chevy Coupe body. The roof was beyond reparable, but Dave from ‪@RileyRestorations‬ came to the rescue with a 1940 Chevy Sedan. The rest is chop top history in the garage in Mojave.
Ian is getting in the metal work on this beauty, and is creating art and showing just how involved metal working and sculpting can be

I would like to complement Jamie on her filming. In particular the muting of the sound during heavy grinding, the asking of questions and your interaction with Ian is really outstanding. The production of each new episode is getting better and better. I especially like how the both of you are opening up with a little more humor and banter. It is nice to see artists at work. Happy New Year and 100,000 subscribers is just around the corner!

Something I have found helpful when laying out curved lines, is the magnetic strip from inside a refrigerator door seal. Lay it out, adjust as necessary, trace with sharpie, remove strip then cut/grind/ whatever. Your work always inspires me to try something out of my norm.

Hi Ian and Jamie. Love your show, The body work you do is pure art, that is sitting back to visualize an end result and make it work and I take my hat off to you. It is a fortunate person who can earn a living from what they love doing and are good at it. I am an Aussie product of the 50's and grew up around cars of this ilk and people who modified them. You are setting out to emulate rodding of the 50's - 60's and I am in awe of your creations but I do have to go back the that original era and what the boys had to work with then. No MIG for starters, Panel welding was done with Oxy so distortion was the big issue to combat then lead filled and filed as 2 pack filler was years away as were 4" grinders, air and battery tools, cutting was by way of tinsnips and hacksaw. Everything was done by hand and late nights. You are what we call the real deal and an inspiration to up and coming body workers to follow a dream to create something unique. I'll keep watching as long as you keep posting.

I use to wear my wedding ring working on projects like Ian and was constantly getting welding slag on it and even at times having it weld to the metal table while welding. I ruined my original wedding ring, now I wear the silicone rings and love them, and my wife keeps my metal ring that I wear for special going out occasions.

Ian, I still have a mark on my right thigh where the prop came out from under the 48 Chev coupe hood as I was rough shaping the fiberglass nose job back in 57. This after the body man down the street torch welded the two halves.
It was a friends we were working on it in his dad's gas station. As teens we all put a lot of work in that 48. Thus my interest in this project.
I really appreciate your approach and eye for aesthetics. Again, happy I rediscovered you and am so looking forward to the ongoing progress. Appreciate the camera work and repartee...🤔⚘ Remembering the cameraman always lives...😂
