One of my main complaints about Jedi Fallen Order's narrative was how Cal never slew any of the main lightsaber wielding bosses by his own hand. Yeah, he bested all of them, but someone else was the one who delivered the killing blow. I always felt that was too much "Disney Star Wars". Ever since Disney took over they've been reluctant to show their protagonists, especially in animation, visibly killing anyone on screen so the fact that Cal beheaded her is a step towards a more mature narrative where the heroes realize that sometimes killing is how you put an end to a big threat or simply put someone out of their misery. In this case it also serves to wrap up a loose thread from the first game.
