Brian watched an entire golf tournament on tv for the chance to see Nate. What a friend!!!!
he's just too sweet !❤
Right?! So true.
😭😭😭
I always get the groupie feel from him.
@@andk2846 Well... he did ask for an autograph in highschool... from another high schooler. Haha!
Oh my gosh, Baked Bean's dishwasher joke had me cracking up in the middle of the office this morning 😅
I rewound (skipped back) to listen to it a 2nd time it was so good. Keep em coming Bates.
I rewound it several times because it was funny as hell. Loved It!! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so amused by Aaron being so amused by Dusty 😂😂😂
Dusty: I’m not sure why I’ve been in so many car accidents.
Also Dusty: You can’t wait for the opening, make the opening.
😂🚨🔥✅️
The Breakfast and Aaron fist bump after Breakfast says to Nate, “You’re doing alright..”to Nate saying he doesn’t want to know everything is why I watch and not just listen. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Airforce? What would you get, a tattoo of a desk?!?" I literally spit out the water I was drinking because I laughed so hard. I am an army vet and my best friend is getting ready to retire from the airforce. It's all love but I am definitely using that at his retirement party.😊
Are we not gonna talk about how Aaron just changed Nate's Wikipedia page live on the pod?!
That was incredible and we never mentioned it
Nate went from saying Steph Curry couldn't go pro in golf, to telling a story about how he became a pro golfer by checking a box.
Nate's "DoesanybodywininDungeonandDragon?" was getting real close to his "BarrySanders" voice!
I can’t believe Dusty thinks his Southern accent has faded. Mind blowing
Just imagine where it was if that's really the case.
Haha!!!
This episode went by so fast. A part 2 is a must! Breakfast was on fire! 🔥
Hey Bear! Bradshaws dishwasher/woman joke is definitely in his mount rushmore of jokes on this podcast. Its just beside "the juicy fruit 5." Cant wait to see Nate in September in Baltimore. Love the podcast guys. My dream episode is this: "Maryland and the Shawshank film breakdown" Make it happen!
As I listen to this, I'm waiting on an appliance repairman to come fix our freezer. Thank goodness I am now armed with this wealth of appliance knowledge and history for when he arrives.
Nateland IS listed as a “educational” podcast😂😂 last week I learned more than I ever wanted to know about Saturns…obviously not the “so called”planet but the cars😂….
Nate's awake! The later taping time might not be a bad idea!
My name is Jean HÉBERT which is a French name pronounced A-bear, like Stephen Colbert. So it sounds like you say hello to me every time you start the podcast.
This is my go to ASMR channel as it helps me drift off to sleep. It also keeps me entertained as I drive around delivering food. I just hope i dont fall asleep while driving. Hay bare.
I prefer it in the morning, helps me ease I to the day. 😅 I listen to documentaries about aliens or space to get me to sleep
It helps me fall asleep at night and keeps me awake on long drives.
😂🤣 Brian Bates for the win!! That 82 year old dishwasher joke was great!!!!❤❤😂
Aaron: “What, like a COTTON GIN?” 😂😂😂
Hello, folks! In high school, a buddy and I selected microwaves as our topic for the science fair. We learned that microwaves heat up your food by heating the water inside your food. Those hot water molecules inside your food are what actually heat the food around them, so putting a cup of water in your microwave while your food is warming up definitely helps. It's especially helpful when heating up beef, chicken, or pork because it will heat up the meat without completely drying it out because it uses moisture from the water cup instead of draining all the water out of the meat and leaving you with dry, sad leftovers.
I’m definitely going to try this ❤ thank you
This is probably my favorite episode! It has to at least be top 3. It was non stop jokes and could not stop laughing.
Best pod ever
I've also heard from several sources to store valuables in the dishwasher if a hurricane is coming. The dishwasher is airtight and will keep important documents, etc safe if your house gets flooded. (Probably recommended to also put the documents in a ziplock bag before you put it in the dishwasher...)
I hope you guys were serious about Appliances Part II ! There’s so much more to be discussed! 😅
I couldn't agree more! Surprisingly, I actually learned stuff in this episode. Mainly, I need a bigger microwave.
My parents have a Westinghouse deep freezer that is 51 years old and still running strong. My dad checks on it each day just to make sure the thing is still working. It's also that 70s yellow -could totally be a museum piece haha.
My first thought for longest lasting was deep freezers... I know my Grandpa has two still running that have been there since I was a kid, and I'm in my 40s now. :)
Just in time to keep me awake for another two hours 😂
😂lol!
Same
The accent definitely IS NOT FADING
Only Nateland can turn a mundane topic like appliances into the best episode of the pod. So many zingers! Maybe you should always have late tapings, all 4 of you had your comedic talent turned on. Great job, folks!
Dusty just so excited as he watches Nate come to his side on microwaves. I love it.
I adored hearing Nate walk through his own thoughts on the reality of the microwave for, what sounded like, the first time. We recently remodeled our kitchen and didn't even make the space for one to be plugged in. It definitely falls under the American psyche of "I don't care if it's harmful, just make sure it's easy and I won't think about it too much." It's called "nuking" for a reason. Love the show, love ya'll, keep solving the world's problems guys!!
Pretty sure this title has made me laugh the most
Gotta be Candy Part 2 for me 🤣
Up early sleepless. You guys are keeping me company. Thanks so much. ❤
I loved the pride on Dusty’s face when Nate said he was starting to think about microwaves!! Like Dusty, I enjoy delving into conspiracies and find myself reading a new one and saying out loud “I wonder what Dusty thinks.” Thanks for the laughs guys!
Hello Folks! This podcast is awesome, so fun.
It boggles my mind that Dusty is still alive, dead man driving! I recommend a comedic intervention by the Nateland family...
Nate, the golf tournament sounds like a fantastic experience, I have been considering taking it up but am not sure my knees would take it.
Seriously though, big ask, I would love to take a trip to Nashville, come on the show, and have the chance to interview you all.
Another great episode!
Nate, thank you for stopping by to meet my son and taking the time to talk with him and meeting me and family and doing some photos. Very gracious of you take the time you did, it was wonderful to have that experience! Hope to see you there in years to come.
We had a “portable” dishwasher meaning you had to wheel it over to the sink and attach it to the faucet! I totally forgot about it until I saw this episode.
Dusty! You explaining your wifes method of loading the dishwasher had my crying laughing. I was listening to this podcast while loading the dishwasher and my husband often gives me a hard time about not knowing how to load a dishwasher (at least not to his standards). He often jokes that I have forgotten everything I learned in orientation and need to go back to Dishwasher Loading 101.
Thanks for being real and letting us know that we aren't the only ones! Love you guys❤❤
Oh my goodness. I totally suggested this as a topic years ago !
I love Brian's dishwasher joke so much, followed by the dramatic BOOM. It worked in the 80s...
Every episode is worth listening to.
It was such a great moment in the show when Aaron spoke about his grandfather’s Air Force tattoo and Nate asked if it was a “desk”! I almost spit out my morning coffee laughing. I’m a retired Air Force Airman who served 26 years, and that crack was as good (if not better) than what I would hear from my sister services. Cracking on each others service was always part of the military camaraderie and just another one of hundreds of reasons why I will never miss an episode of Nateland. Love you guys.
You just elemenopead through that word😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 42:57
Hey folks and hello Dusty. We had a good time watching the podcast. The idiom "jumping the shark" or "jump the shark" is a pejorative that is used to argue that a creative work or entity has reached a point in which it has exhausted its core intent and is introducing new ideas that are discordant with, or an over-exaggeration of, its original purpose. The phrase was coined in 1985 by radio personality Jon Hein in response to a 1977 episode from the fifth season of the American sitcom Happy Days, in which the character Fonzie while in Los Angeles jumps over a shark while on water-skis.
Circulo-Nimbus cloud 😂😂
I live in Cusco Peru, where dishwashers aren't a thing. I listen to this podcast hand washing the dishes. It helps me pass the time with lots of entertainment
Hello folks and hey bear. Speaking of robberies, in 1992 I worked delivery at a local Pizza Hut and we were close to closing when 3 guys rushed in and robbed us at gunpoint. One guy watched the door while another rushed us (the staff) to the back and the third guy emptied two registers. It took about 90 seconds. They made off with about $100 since the cashiers made regular drops in the safe. They fled on foot. Had they taken the time to rob us (the wait staff and delivery drivers) they probably would have gotten 5 or 600 more dollars as we all had cash on us from tips. Cheers, Rick Sanford, III (that's Sanford with one D).
Re-watching this episode and I'm ROLLING LAUGHING, watching Nate stare at the paper trying to decipher Will Horn's comment while the rest of the guys are discussing it like it was the simplest comment in the world. He doesn't say a word for a very long time and I still don't think he ever got what he wanted out of understanding that comment.
I love how they’re talking about not understanding the point of DnD after spending 3+ episodes roleplaying fictional fights between different animals lol. All they’re missing is a d20!
"What was the tattoo of, a desk??" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Blew soda through my nose at work when Nate said, “you know what I’m talking about Drrrrl”. Computer is soaked and everyone is staring at me.
Super heating occurs when you microwave water to above boiling point without it actually boiling. This occurs in vessels like Pyrex where the surface is so smooth that there are no rough areas for bubbles to form. Super heated water lies dormant until something less smooth like a metal spoon creates an area where rapid boiling occurs, or an explosion.
Was at the tournament cheering you on!
At 1:23 I actually opened door to my microwave to check space for juice glass in corner. 😊 Best way I now heat up leftover pizza, etc., is turn oven on to broil. Watch carefully. Set Timer! 3 min MAX.
Crisp and warm!
I think you guys should consider doing this time frame on a regular basis..the energy was definitely there.I don't think I've ever laughed more during any other episode..You guys were on fire !!
The drawer of the oven is the broiler-It's not for storage or just to keep things warm-It's to get the crispy goodness on top of mac and cheese obvs.
I watched the whole first season of Westworld thinking it’s the show Aaron loves and always references. I just learned he loves West Wing. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why he would reference Westworld all the time!
58:09 Hey!! What a minute, Nothing can stop the U.S Chair Force! As an Airman I am so glad Nate did not miss the chance to make the joke
Aw you're a sweetheart, Nate!
Also, the silverfox thing is really working for ya bro! 😁
Boxset asked what temp you keep your fridge. As Aaron stated, I was curious about ours so I pulled up the app on my phone to check. 37°F in the fridge and -2°F in the freezer. See how handy wifi on your refrigerator is, Dusty? Looking forward to Dusty’s show in Dayton, by the way.
Love the podcast. Thanks for all the educational laughs.
Brian is on fire with the wit, love you all
Hey Bear! Superheated steam (water) is when the pressure on the water is higher than its correlating boiling point (212 degrees) Usually only possible when the steam is under pressure. Mythbusters did something on it years ago. They did it with distilled water, but realized that distilled water doesn't boiler because there are no impurities, so they did tap and distilled at the same time. So they'd know when the tap started to boil the distilled water was getting close to superheated. Then they dropped a fork and sugar cube in and they immediately boiled over. Not an explosion, but it would definitely burn you. Keep up the good work fellers.
Hello Folks! Long time writer, first time listener. I'm going to see Aaron in September and Nate in October. This fall is going to be epic!! Breakfast, get some tour dates in Seattle and I'll come see you too. Lots of love! Hey Bear.
It's wild how you are talking about the future of grocery shopping being delivered and all I can think about is how similar it sounds to the past... Milkmen, ice delivery, and all that.
In honor or a request Reddit questions on Natelandfans about reducing the runtime to below an hour, How about an episode where you answer and discuss questions submitted by fans? I’m thinking a minimum 5 hour episode.
Our dishwasher stopped working 4 years ago and I've been handwashing since then. My nieces and nephew think it's funny that I now use it as any other cabinet, since we're short on kitchen storage space. "Where do you keep the powdered sugar?" "Check the dishwasher..." :)
Bates bringing the heat with the dishwasher joke. Quality stuff.
I'm sure there is more than one thing that Nate might know that the other 3 wouldn't, but who'd have thought one would be "run-flat tires"
Comment about cars. My first car was a 1995 Toyota Camry. The car was a boat. We got it from someone who lived in Arizona and it had a carpet installed on the dash to protect it from sun damage. We put in our own CD player...it was one of the ones that flipped around when you turned the car on. Anyway, it was a complete boat car. I had just graduated high school and my dad would continually tell me to put oil in the car. I would say to myself..."Sure Dad. Sure. Cars need oil okay." I didn't put oil in the car for at least a year and a half to two years. One day I'm driving home on the highway from my class at COMMUNITY COLLEGE 15 miles from my house...and smoke starts pouring out from under the hood. The engine was on fire because the engine was completely out of oil. Not knowing what to do, I just drove home. I burned my hand opening the hood. Smoke flying out the sides of hood. I tried to put coolant into engine to try and cool it and it would instantly boil and splash out on me. Needless to say...the car was dead. Learned a few things about the importance of oil that day. Dad just shook his head.
Love this podcast and all my Nateland friends. I am over the moon, Nate - I'm going to the Wednesday night San Diego show in September. I hope to meet you. Y'all have brought so much sunshine to my life. Thank you guys for your faithfulness.
Whirlpool!! Woot woot! Without it I don’t have a Hometown lol
Movie with the best microwave scene : last house on the left
Thank you Nate for the clear message to teenagers not to be stupid! If only you were around to advise in the 90's... We didn't think of it as "branding" at the time, but my hoodlum circle of friends thought it was cool to heat up a standard cigarette lighter and press the top of it to your skin, resulting in a smiley-face scar from the burn. As a 16 year old girl, thinking this was a great way to prove myself in my mostly-guy friend group, I went for the smiley-face just below my collarbone. Turns out the lighter was too hot and the scar ended up looking like two pointless ovals - still visible in my wedding photos in my 30s. Super proud of my decision-making capabilities.
Who knew appliances could be this funny😂😂😂
Hello Folks!
It was great to hear Dusty’s comments about the bank robbery in Hawaii. I live on an island off the coast of Michigan and we’re routinely rated as one of the safest cities in Michigan for the exact reason Dusty mentioned. It’s almost impossible to get away if you were to commit a crime. We have two bridges to the “mainland” and they’d just spin them to stop anyone trying to escape. Gotta love Island Life! Love the show guys!!
I love the microwave conversation. I turn 50 at the end of the month. And, I am noticing my distrust for this machine is becoming greater. I no longer stand in front of the microwave when it is running. I snicker when the FDA says it is safe. How can it be completely safe when we are "nuking" the food. I believe the only true recent advancement in appliances is the air fryer. Tastes much better than food from a microwave. And, it should be safer. I hope....I use it everyday.
I'm gut laughing at Aaron's indeed ad with dusty and nate just casually checking his phone. Keep it up folks!
I've been hand washing dishes for as long as I can remember (26 years old) I moved into my house about 3 years ago and never used the dishwasher once. It never occurred to me to use the dishwasher, as growing up we never used our dishwasher (no idea why). Somehow this podcast may have convinced me to start using a dishwasher
My wife and I make a cake that needs to be chilled to add the frosting. I will immediately put cake from the oven to the fridge. Now I know why the milk always expires early. This truly is an educational podcast. Keep it up folks!
I drive a 97 F250 diesel. The speedometer only goes to 80. One of its best features is it forces my husband who drives like a dusty to drive slow his roll and enjoy the drive.
Tell Hannah if she doesn’t like Dusty’s wild driving might be time to get a big slow diesel.
2 Car seats fit with plenty of room in my crew cab.
Snopes…they’re the best. 😂😂😂
Hello folks and Hey Bear! For the record, I had a microwave that lasted roughly 23 years (Whirlpool brand). It JUST bit the dust in May of 2023. Longest lasting appliance I've ever owned, by far.
Hey Bear! The Indeed reading had me cracking up today as Nate’s head was in the picture while he’s refilling his water. It was probably from his refillable “Fiji” water bottle too 😂 1:37:20
love the pod , from the uk
Oh my goodness . . . we might need an Appliances, Part 2. I work in a law firm with 20 smart attorneys and other staff. We had to buy a new microwave for our kitchen about 3 years ago. Not one single person in the firm can figure out how to set the clock on the microwave. It has been flashing 12 for three years. Keep up the great work!
This is one of my fav eps in a while, i feel like you guys are on a hot streak lately. When Aaron was doing his plugs to the camera it seemed like he was looking into my soul.
The random desk hedgehog has me perplexed. Talking about accents, my husband is from Texas but we’ve lived in Virginia about 2 decades now, and I never notice his accent…until he’s talking to his family-especially his dad! That ol’ country twang comes swinging out to play 😂
**I’d like to know how long Bafflegab has been holding onto that appliance joke? I’ve never seen anyone so excited to hit a punchline
Oh man, I always thought Arron was the smartest and my absolute favorite on the pod... until he dropped that bombshell about "putting bowls on the bottom of the dishwasher"! 😂 I mean, seriously, what happened to all that Notre Dame education? Bowls on the bottom? That's dishwasher heresy right there! Maybe we need to start a GoFundMe for a dishwasher basics course for Arron! 🤣🤣🤣
But hey, I still love the guy despite his questionable dishwasher skills! Can't wait to see what other surprises he has in store for us on the next episode! 😄🎉
When I was in the 4th grade (mid-80s), we moved into an apartment for a short period of time. The apartment came with a trash compactor and I seriously felt like we had moved up in the world.
Regarding the million dollar fine for speeding, people have argued "If the penalty for a crime is a fine, then it's only illegal for the poor." It seems to me making it a percentage of your income helps level the field a bit. Although I do agree, I would be interested in where those million dollars end up!
I feel there's only one wrong way to load the dishwasher and it's how my dad used to do it. He would unload the top of the dishwasher, then add wet and dirty plates to the now empty top allowing them to drip on the clean dishes on the bottom. Then he would unload the dishes on the bottom.
Dusty is my spirit animal.. anything he does, i do. Composting, watermelon with seeds and eat them, gardening, anti microwave.
Hello Fellas, I work at a lowes and sell appliances from time to time so this one was a good one for me. Just know they make a washer dryer combo that can just plug into a regular outlet and not be vented. It will text you when it’s done. “We’re having a good time”
Aaron, some of the drawers below the stove are only for storage and some are warming drawers controlled by the controls. Different prices.
My parents still don't have a dishwasher. My dad said he didn't need a dishwasher because he had 4 sons (and liked the conversations with mom during dishes). We probably washed the dishes less than we remember. I would often have to conveniently "go to the bathroom." My youngest brother would "sweep the floor."
Aaron's right though; there were plenty of good conversations. I washed the non-dishwasher dishes last night with my two sons (ages 5 and 9) I kind of get the appeal, but the sprayer soon became a squirtgun and they have no idea where things go.
I'll go proofread this now.
Good question about what is best for the environment, the single use plate or washing dishes, Aaron. When i was pregnant and trying to decide if i wanted to use cloth or disposal diapers, i researched what was worse in my area- landfills or water shortages. For my daughter, i used cloth diapers (for anout 6 months then got lazy...lol), and for my son i went all disposable, love you guys.
Aaron sneaking in the wiki change….Nicely done. Loved watching the ACC even though they didn’t show Nate play at all. Told my husband about how you said it’s kid friendly and I think he is planning a trip in his head now for next year.
Was sort of glossed over, but i found it hilarious that A Web considers a refrigerator more furniture than appliance. Great ep as always, hey bear.
Apparently you can reinvent the wheel!
Hello Nate, Dusty, Aaron, and Bubble Bass-
The reason microwave ovens (the appliance) don't harm you or your food is because microwaves (the radiation) are non-ionizing, which is much different than x-ray. I don't want to get too deep into the science, but it basically means it won't do harm to your atoms. Other non-ionizing light waves are radio, infrared, and visible light. It only becomes dangerous with ultraviolet, x-ray, and gamma waves.
The reason microwave ovens have the mesh screen in front is to block the microwaves from escaping the appliance and causing burns. The wavelength of microwaves is very large compared to visible light, which is why we can see inside but not be harmed by the heat and why we can open the door right away and be fine.
Love you guys!
The night taping is without a doubt the way to go. I’ve always thought that Comedians had a lot in common with professional basketball players and MMA fighters. They are all trained to PEAK later in the evening.
Nate has never stayed this locked in for so long
We had a blast at Dusty's Friday show in Albany, NY!! Judy
