Idk if getting Dainslief is luckier. That dude is grieving and depressed after losing everything in khanriah. You cant blame him for seemingly all business and emotionally distant. They do not look happy together. It is probably contributing factor for abyss twin turning eventually. When all you see is darkness and your companion also only sees darkness hard to really not turn into it Meanwhile Paimon while a chatterbox and is expensive as hell tries to do her to cheer up traveler and be the companion in all the loneliness. And she actually makes traveler smile and laugh. She's the one thing keeping the chosen traveler sane and sometimes happy.
Ngl, every time the Traveler asked Paimon to leave him for a moment, they're always doing something pretty devious, like that one time they're trying to decide whether to execute or not the Fatui guy who's tracking the Aranara for Dottore (a world quest)
You know what makes it much sadder? Lumine probably thought that her brother actually died And gave up in desperation. Not only it shows the different between outlander and descender, but also answers her reactions on first seeing Aether after so long (in trailer back then). She literally though him dead for 500 years? 😢
nah caribert quest explained why she stopped on sumeru thats why you can see in the puddle reflection lumine stops but aether keeps going forward the difference is, paimon always uplifts us, but in the case of dainslief(bad companion ngl) both of them are experiencing grief so they really cant comfort each other(you can see them distanced unlike aether with paimon, theyre so close)
No, she didn't think that Aether died. Otherwise she wouldn't be so cold in their first meeting in the We will be reunited quest. She wouldn't say "Aether? WhY aRe yUo WiTh dAiN?" Bro, it's the stupidest question you can ask your brother after 500 years not seeing him lol 😅 come on now If she thought he died, she would say "Aether? I thought you were dead! I'm so happy to see you alive! Where have you been all this time?!" It seems to me she knew that her brother is okay 😅
@olyabutorina6869 that wasn't her first time seeing Aether though. She first saw Aether in the We Will Be Reunited cutscene tha came out before the games release. And when she saw him she was relieved. So yeah I think she thought he died
@@olyabutorina6869 she saw him way before that in mondstadt. For some reason she cannot interfere with his journey. And yes, by her reaction in that trailer, she actually thought he was dead.
5:41 I agree, while Paimon was always there to cheer up and at least attempt to support Aether in his journey (Granted, a heavy food bill attached). Lumine on the other hand, becoming more and more depressed in her journey as Dainsleif was such a downer of a travel companion, her eyes are dead even during Lantern Rites as shown in the video
There is this "invisible wall" between Dains and Lumine... Maybe his curse is also slowly affecting Lumine? We know now that they are basically gigantic elemental Batteries. We also don't know much about Paimon's origin so I theorize that it's not just her childish cheerfulness that is keeping Aether from turning. Maybe there is something about her that is preventing some kind of abyssal element from permeating Aether after all.
@@hlonghiI just think that they don't really can be happy considering that their home got genocided by Celestia. They are not adventuring like Aether and Paimon, but wandering to find a new place to call home, that's my opinion at least
I would never trade Paimon for Dainsleif. As cool as Dainsleif is, I want joy and curiosity and happiness in life. Paimon is all of that, she is what keeps us connected to people and to the world, so we don't slide into the darkness and loneliness.
Without Paimon, we’d have ended up just like our sibling. Dain isn’t a bad person, he’s just grieving, too. At all points until the end, he was distant, and by the time he finally reached out, just a hand on the shoulder, it was too late, the siblings’ paths had already diverged.
It's so beautiful, the storytelling of their similar journeys but being 500 years apart and having different experiences due to the events around them and their traveling companions. Someone else mentioned that being just off the heels of the Khanri'ah disaster Dain was probably grieving himself, unable to open up to Lumine in any meaningful way until it was too late, and she was...'dispelled' we'll say. Whereas Aether and Paimon became fast friends and close throughout the entire journey, nothing too cataclysmic happened like in Dain's case.
Lumine spent 500 years not knowing where Aether was or if he was even alive, since he was sent 500 year ahead in time. There's a really good chance that a lot of what she's done that could be considered evil was in the name of saving or avenging him, and by the time she finds out he's alive, it's too late to turn back. The upcoming patch is going to be very, very interesting...
I do wonder, what was our siblings journey about? We are looking for our sibling, but what were they looking for? Did Dain just lead them on this trip? Was our sibling looking for us? Or did they think we were dead? So many questions so little time…
the shot where they are like thinking about their sibling is actually the moments they would have if they took the right road hence the name "The Road Not Taken" and if you look in the reflection of both Lumine and Aether walking on water you've noticed Lumine stoppee walking since Sumeru is where Lumine's downfall started, witnessing what happened to Caribert and hearing what exactly happened to Khaenri'ah and it's people is what led Lumine to go straight to Khaenri'ah instead of continuing her journey across the seven nations
It never occurred to me but one reason I prefer the pairing of Paimon with Aether and Lumine with Dainsleif is because the gender pairing helps make them a standin for the respective sibling that it missing.
The biggest evidence of Hoyo's mishandling of the character of Paimon is the fact that the question of "who would you rather travel with?" is so seriously entertained. If it wasn't clear to the player before, this short bashes you over the head with the idea that Paimon is the 'heart' of the Traveller's journey and is a major reason for them not going down the same path as the sibling. The problem is that in-game, Paimon's personality swings wildly from 'insufferable narcissist' to 'deeply emotionally affected by the nearest gentle breeze'. Her moments of humanity usually come straight out of left-field and are so overwrought in the execution that they lack any credibility. Hence, the only reason a lot of us haven't drop-kicked Paimon to Snezhnaya already is that we haven't yet found the keybind for it.
2:21 you could also see that Lumine also changes around the time she was journeying in Sumeru. Lumine stops walking in the water mirror image while Aether continues Also! Congrats on the sponsor! I've been enjoying all your insights on these kinds of videos! 🩵

Hello there handsome devil.
If it wasn't for Paimon the traveler would have end up being miserable too
Paimon is like younger sibling, annoying sometimes but is always cheerful and cares for us.
And all the people the traveler met with and made friends with whereas the sibling traveled the world right after a massive cataclysm
Paimon underrated fr
INB4 PAIMON LAST BOSS....

Also there is the fact that Lumine was a princess of Khaenri’ah and Dainsleif was the captain of the Royal Guard and he acts professional.

Not to mention the traveller will have trouble trying to understand Teyvat's language.
Paimon taught the traveller the language.
AIMER is the perfect singer for genshin. now we just need MayN to get her own unique song for HSR.

she got that trauma from the Khaenriah incident 💀
My man Dain lost alot, his nation and got cursed, i would be depressed too if i follow him along the way.
Congrats for the sponsor man, you made it.

So deep klip and song😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
this short also proved that Aether is canon mc
Well it was obvious long ago

Almost as if in real life people don't have one personality trait and don't treat every situation the same
Paimon is well-written
