I think it's sad that Anne sold the picture painted by her gran - it was obviously a wrench for her to see it go. It wouldn't have taken up much space on a wall. And David got to keep his relative's spinning chair.
The painting was not an “original” it was more of a paint by number type (they said it was mass produced)- but, I’m sure it had sentimental value to her

Someone should ship all that antique furniture over here to Australia....we pay a fortune for that type of stuff over here... a similar table in a shop the other day had a sold sign of $850 ....
Yes, it has changed in the UK. in about 2004 I bought a 200 year old brown Georgian ceiling height cupboard thing for UK £2000. That is £3000 after inflation today. I love the idea it has been around that long but I now realise it was one of the worst investments I ever made although it has been useful for storing all the family DVDs, games players etc etc. When I die it will have very little value which is a shame. As it partly blocks a window i might even sell it before then just to be rid of clutter in the house IF the 5 children ever clear out their games consoles! We already gave about 400 VHS films to charity from that cabinet.
I’m guessing for 2 reasons : because the wife isn’t being fair and she has closets full of stuff at home but has left no space for him. Or that she can’t stand looking at them at all and has forced him to put them in storage
