I was just thinking about Razor this morning. I met him at the bash this year. (My first one)
I also met your wife. We had a conversation about making maple syrup. Something I used to do.
But, I missed you in the crowd. Anyway, it's good to see you back making videos.
Tell Razor I said hello from the city of Fernley. He'll definitely remember Fernley.

Razor need to be careful with his nuts, he’s not as young as he used to be. 😂 Great job of machining a replacement.

Very nice job Randy, looks better than new! Growing up, my Grandpa had a lathe but I never really learned much on it. I'd like to get one someday and learn more. Thanks for the video Randy.

Was the original part ductile iron? I suspect it was, I just haven't seen it used in this type of application before... I'll bet it's used in a lot of places I'm not aware of.

Why would you make a fastener out of cast iron ? and not sleel.

$75 for the nut and 250-300 for the gland from the dealer depending on serial number. :-)

Thanks for the video. What's the reason for choosing ductile iron for this nut rather than steel?

  • @warrenjones744

Ductile Iron? why not steel? Pistons are often made of ductile iron, sometimes the end gland. But a nut? I cannot recall ever encountering a nut in a hydraulic cylinder made of iron. However I stand to be corrected. Nevertheless good too see you back making cool stuff Randy. Cheers. BTW I have been peeking at your IG...nice deck!

Thanks warren. I made it as per requested from Ray. This is from an old John Deere construction loader. I suggested steel but this is what he wanted.
