I can’t believe there are Charmed novels, and I can’t believe you’re reading them. Completely agree they qualify as occult detectives. Absolutely delightful, and I hope you review it.
Fantastic October TBR lined up! Thanks for co-hosting ODO! It's going to be a magical month for sure. I have a Charmed book waiting for me as well! 😂😂 Love that! I can't wait to get started....and OMG the blooper!
"Young People's Events" made me laugh out loud. At least you're not shouting at them to get off your lawn. Yet. Hope you have a good reading month and best of luck with Shogun.
Hi Olly. I've read and really enjoyed the Charlaine Harris trilogy of Grave Sight. It's an intriguing plot especially how the protagonist, Harper Connolly, becomes psychic. If you're a fan of Harris's work, Sookie Stackhouse mysteries and Midnight Texas, you'll be happy to read the Easter eggs in the Grave Sight series. This series is a very good read. I read the back to back they were that much of a page Turner. Also the audiobook reader really brings the characters to life. The Grave Sight trilogy is not a tv series. But the Sookie Stackhouse series is as TRUE BLOOD. And the MIDNIGHT TEXAS series is as well. Anyone reading will throughly enjoy GRAVE SIGHT.❤
Great list of books, Olly, and thank you for wanting to participate in Halloween-a-thon ❤ even just a little, still counts, of course! You are the best!!!! Great TBR 🎉
I love seabury quinn. I have 5 hardcovers from nightshade. So good. He wrote between 30 and 50. Greatly advise to anyone who loves sherlock holmes but with occult.
Charmed was such a great series. I should have realised there'd be novels! Also, have you ever read any Simon R Green? His novels always had good ideas, but they never clicked for me, even though I LOVED the premise of his Nightside books.
@CriminOllyBlog I completely forgot about the Deathstalker series! I was big into occult fiction a while ago and read Green's Nightside and another one he did with ghost hunters, neither of which really lived up to their potential (so much so that I donated the books to charity because I knew I'd never read them again). But I have always wanted to try the Deathstalker books.
Have you read any of The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch? If so, what did you think of them? I think they’re more urban fantasy than occult detective, but then so are Charmed and Supernatural. Thanks! 😺✌️

I'm looking forward to it
The cover of that version of the Hellbound Heart is overpowered
It is pretty great
It's so neat that you're joining in on TBR Harvest!
It's such a well though through event!

Oh fantastic!
Great selection of books Olly. I love The Hellbound Heart. Shogun is a fabulous historical novel.
Thanks, Cliff!

*shakes fist at cloud*
Thanks much for the ‘blooper’, at the end! Brought a smile to my face!
Glad you enjoyed it!

That's great to here! I'm looking forward to reading. I think I was thinking of the show Medium with Patricia Arquette
Charmed. LOL. I had a roommate for a time who was obsessed with the TV series.
It was a fun show!

Thanks Kelsi!
💚🖤
Jekyll & Hyde consulting detectives sounds like _bad cop - good cop._
Really recommend the jack nightingale books by Stephen Leather for occult detective!
Thanks! I've read a couple of things by him over the years and enjoyed them, but haven't tried those ones yet
Shogun! Stick with it. It's excellent....
I'm really going to try this time
I love seabury quinn. I have 5 hardcovers from nightshade. So good. He wrote between 30 and 50. Greatly advise to anyone who loves sherlock holmes but with occult.
That sounds like the kind of mix I'll really like
Looking forward to hear what you think about the Charmed novel. Never really heard about them before, but loved the show.
It should be fun
Serving Octocult in a Detective Honouring Way
Have you ready any of the shardlake novels? I'd love to see a video reviewing the series, although it is quite lengthy
I haven't, but it is one that intrigues me
I'm going to read some of the Joe Golem graphic novels by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden for Occult Detective October.
Nice! Those look fun
Currently reading falling angel for occult detectives
Great book- I need to reread that
@@CriminOllyBlogit’s good, but I also enjoyed the movie very much. (Angel Heart) Lisa Bonet, Robert DeNiro, Mickey Rourke
What date will you be reviewing Occult Detective Quarterly?
I'll probably read it this week and discuss it in my wrap up next Saturday
Which patricia highsmith was your favorite?
Probably either Edith’s Diary or This Sweet Sickness

You should try the Felix Castor series by Mike Carey
You know, I read the first 2 books in the Felix Castor books but then, just let it go. I enjoyed both those books quite a bit.
I have those waiting for me! I hope to get to them in October!
Thanks! I'll take a look

😺✌️
Yes, I've read the first one and have been meaning to go back to the series
I have a full set of Jules Degranden in ebook if you're interested.
That’s really kind but I have a few now so think I’m good.
Interesting you've DNF'd Shogun (in the past) in the first half of the book, which is the better half. The second half is worse 🤭
lol oh great
