We're teaching our son this. But he struggles with getting through to extension. He wants to short arm (Ala Mike Trout, but a little more than that). We've tried 3/4 swings, etc. but it never translates to his actual swing. Any thoughts or drills for this? thx

Hello Matthew. I just put out 2 videos where I'm working with a softball player, one with a contact Pad, the other off the tee. I would watch those because this student when she arrived also struggled with getting to a full extension. The key is to do it in slow motion speed at first and very gradually speed it up. Always exaggerate the barrel below the hands and always allow the lead elbow to work up to the height of the mouth as you apply these drills. Stay closed at contact where the chest is pointing to the second baseman area, not shortstop if you are a righty. I hope this helps 👍
