With regard to the A-Passioni (and any other retinol serum, for that matter). 1% is a very high concentration. Those who find it too strong (peeling, irritation, dryness, etc.) have probably never used 1% or 0.5% retinol before (or have sensitivity to retinol, that happens). Also, the positive effects of retinol are not instantaneous. You need to use it for at least a couple of months. It is totally worth it, though, since it is the only scientifically proven ingredient to reverse signs of aging (wrinkles, pigmentation, uneven texture,...). It is also amazing against acne and blemishes. So yes, you should keep using it, just follow some guidelines: always use it at night, always use SPF in the morning, start with a low percentage and move your way up, start from less to more frequently, follow up with oils or creams to prevent dryness and irritation and, if it's still too strong, use the oils or creams before the retinol. Finally, even if you don't experience irritation, peeling is normal. That's what retinol is supposed to do. Don't freak out. Your skin will adjust and it will subside eventually. I hope this helps! ;)
PlugInKali retinol is not the only scientifically proven ingredient to improve exogenous ageing. you are probably confusing retinol with tretinoin. retinol shows promise but it is the less efficacious out of all the retinoids available currently.
I missed my routine of watching your usual Sunday video in bed with a coffee this morning, will have to make sure to save your Saturday video next week so it doesn't feel weird! Enjoying The Daily Edit so far 😊
Anna, I had a good flick through your book today, mainly the life section, didn't have too much time, but it's sooooo nice to read, I love your style of writing ❤️ you can really be so proud of this!! Lots of love from Germany!
I love this eye shadow on you. It makes your eyes pop and your whole face look warm and glowing. It also make your eye colour so much brighter. I’m not a fan of the orangey shadows on you, but this one is amazeballs.
I had to smile when you mentioned your black chunky sweater-which I am currently wearing! I bought it and the grey version last winter at your recommendation. Love them both- totally worth the money thanks Anna.
I loooove having a video from you every single day. 💕 Have you considered starting a book club? I read Conversations with Friends last month and now I am listening to Michelle's audiobook. So far, I really enjoyed one and I am obsessed with the other. So I would be very interested in knowing what your next read will be, because it seems like we share more or less the same taste when it comes books. Lots of love. ✨
@@Twinbranchesgardening Hey, yes, I am following her too. But just wanted to put the thought out there, as I think it could be a nice new content that she could explore in the future. 😊
loving the daily edit. I didn't even notice that you weren't wearing makeup at the beginning of the video. love the eyeshadow as well. I have just finished your book and now in total cleaning every room in the house phase.
I am using the Drunk Elephant retinol & have used it with a cream about 6 -7 times so far, once a week. Have experienced very light peeling and haven’t really noticed a change in my skin appearance yet. I think the Chanel eyeshadow really suits you & brings out your eyes! 😊
I highly recommend “The Glass Castle”. Non-fiction about kids who are raised with questionable standards and end up becoming successful while their parents are homeless. So incredible and well written with moments of intensity where I had to put the book down, pause and process just to dive right back in. You’ll love it! I loved “Becoming”!
loved it! one question if I may: do you think the handles on the Saint Laurent will last? because many of the second hand totes on Vestiaire show lots os wear and tear on the handles. As yours been ok? thanks in advance and thanks for sharing!
Your favourites are always *my* favourite 💕 I had the chance to meet you at the Bristol Waterstones event and had a wonderful time. Loving your daily March videos, role on the rest 🥰
love this daily edit series *.* hey Anna are you going to do another book tour in London? I missed the first one and I would love to have a second occasion to meet you! :*
3 days in and I’m loving this !!! I’m sorry for not watching it in the evening but I decided that I putting this in to my morning routine and I love this ! The YSL beg hell yes although I have decided that I need to my myself something that actually closes cause I’m noticing that things fall out of it during flights (lost my sun glasses) but I LOVE LOVE it for the day to day while I walk around with laptop and million other things super keen on watching this month ! You are my favorite blogger to g back to the da to day stuff thank you for being as relatable and as cute as you are also in real life !
Luv ❤️❣️the video. I’m new to you and Lily’s channel. I’m always amaza of creativity and happy creations younger ppl are putting out there dor the world to aee. Thank you 🙏
Clothing care video? Yes!! Would request more book vids, a bookshelf tour or your all-time favorites! I’m currently reading and would highly recommend Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. It follows two half-sisters - one is sold into slavery while the other is married to a slaver. If you like books that focus on character relationships I think you’d enjoy this!
I’ve been using A-Passioni for about a month and a half. I do find it really strong! I’m still only using it about once a week... I tried 2 times last week and my skin still looks flaky. However my texture is definitely improved, I keep getting compliments on how good my skin looks even though I think it looks dry. I’m going to keep powering through... I’m just hoping my skin will adjust soon.
I have been using A.Passioni by DE for a month now and it has transformed my skin!! I would definitely recommend continuous use and you will love it. Before starting to use this, I had textured skin with larger pores and a deep wrinkle on the left side of my mouth. It has faded dramatically and my skin is smoother than I have seen it in ages! When I first started applying it I was using it in conjunction with the serum it comes with but when that ran out I didn't feel the need to mix with a serum and I apply a pea sized amount directly to the skin. (I try not to put anything on my skin before applying and use it directly after cleansing). I had a bit of peeling when I first started (showed up 2 days after first application- I thought it wasn't working for me at first) but now I don't get any peeling, just smooth skin!! Hope this helps :) Holly, 28 from CANADA!!!
Anna am I imagining this or did I see you mention you’d be uploading a clothing care video? I’d love some tips about caring for those annoying ‘dry clean only’ items!
I use the DE A-Passioni after putting on a few drops of my rosehip seed oil and when I started using it I only used it once a week, then bumped it up to twice a week. I've used prescription retinol in the past (to treat my acne) which ended horribly and scared me away from retinol for years, so I wanted to be extra careful with building up my tolerance this time around and so far I haven't experienced any irritation, peeling or burning!
What’s the difference between the Charlotte Tilbury product and Becca backlight priming filter? I also recently bought the Nars Sheer Glow and think it can look a bit dry without something to mix it with.
Using A-Passioni at the moment - my first retinol. I started mixing it with a pump of moisturiser (didn't care if it diluted the retinol, just wanted to protect my face) and noticed a difference after the first 2 or 3 times (I used it every other day). I continued on and used it neat followed by moisturiser 20mins later once or twice. Then the major peeling occurred. Ended up giving it a rest for 4-5 days and have started back on again, mixing as I was before. I think you're not actually meant to mix (even though DE say you can) but building up to moisturiser 20mins later or not at all takes a bit of time. Worth it though, can already see improvements and I don't have naturally good skin.
Hi Anna! It's Everly here, a new fan from Indonesia and I LOVE all of your content I've been binge watching for days! I am obsessed with your style (and your whole personality in general you seem like a very lovely person) I can't get enough of them and now I'm mentally building my dream capsule wardrobe in my mind. Since you are doing the daily edit, perhaps you can make a try on video on all of your tops (including the winter and autumn)? It will be a great guideline for my future purchases since all I want to do is copying your style (so much on being original I know). (ps. if you'd like to I am more than happy to see try on videos on other categories too!) It's just a suggestion btw no pressure, I still love your content and please don't feel forced to do one if you don't enjoy it. Lots of love ❤❤❤
the amazing effects of retinol are designed to accumulate over months and years (more like years tbh) - they're definitely not an overnight sensation. keep using them - you will be SO GRATEFUL in 5 years when you've barely aged!
I’m hoping to read 30 books too this year... I read 24 last year so really pushing myself 🙊 you need to read ‘This is going to hurt’... its hilarious and sad buts the same time, however it’s super easy to read as it’s diary entries- not usually my type of book but a MUST read xx
Anna, have you tried OPI Gel Break? It's incredible. I have terrible nails and have tried everything to get them strong. This is a 3 step system that works like a bomb. The base coat is a serum, you follow with colour (they have skin tone specific nudes, but I use any OPI colour) and then a gel-like top coat. It lasts ages and really does what it says on the box.
About the Retinoid, I've been using a different Retinol every other day on my skin and it is wonderful! I had to build tolerance first, using once a week until it stopped peeling my skin. I've basically cleared my skin from bad cystic acne and my acne scars are basically faded after 2 months!
Drunk elephant 1% Retinol- woke up with beautiful skin after applying it solo. My next use I applied too close to my eyes and woke up with two red eyes and peeling skin for a few days! Next I applied and then followed with moisturizer and didn’t notice much of a difference. Went back to using solo but being aware of not getting too close to my eye area
Hi Anna Newton! It's Zaida Newton ☺ I've been using the DE Retinol for about 6 weeks! On average twice a week. My skin looks brighter & my hyperpigmentation has gotten lighter. SO, it does work! But I know it's got to be a long term thing, too. Btw girls-careful about getting it close to your earlobes-they.will.peel. ❤
I use the Drunk Elephant Retinol cream. I'm still at once a week (easing my way in). I do about a large pea-size amount on my face and then I put a little oil over that. I've been putting my eye cream on before the retinol simple because I was finding the corners of my eyes getting irritated if I put retinol on first. I do notice some difference the next day. It's nothing crazy drastic, but it does seem it's done something. I'm just about at the point where I think I'll up my usage to twice a week. Hope that helps!
It's always a good bargain to buy ANY product in Canada because our dollar (CDN) is about 30% below USD, pounds and euros, and cosmetics usually keep the same price tag. For example, a product priced 100 euros is usuallypriced 100$ in Canada.... which is actually the equivalent of about 63 euros! So you guys can make DAMN GOOD BARGAINS here! ♥
Retinol usually takes a few weeks/months of continuous use to see a difference. You're not gonna see a difference with one use. Put the retinol on clean skin and then add the oils and serums on top rather than mixed in which gives the retinol a little extra time to work a little magic. Love you and I take all your skincare recommendations!!
About the Drunk Elephant Rentinol Treatment: Retinol has various positive effects on the skin but only when continiously used over multiple months, so any difference you see in you skin after the first couple of uses has to do with other "side-"ingredients of the treatment. Retinol is a very harsh though effective skincare ingredient that most people's skin really need some getting used to and at least over here in Germany 1% of retinol (as in the Drunk Elephant treatment) is the highest dose that can be sold without perscription. Therefore diluting it in the beginning while the skin is still adapting is a great idea! If you still feel like your skin reacts poorly try using it only every couple of days so your skin has more time to recover inbetween uses. There are less "agressive" forms of retonoids availiable but those either are much less effective (to be honest I don't know which derivate is used by drunk elephant it might also not be actual retinol) or need to be perscribed.
a-passioni is so good but i do use it sparingly. it’s really cosmetically elegant in comparison to other retinols i’ve used and less drying than prescription. i use it like an hour or so after i shower to make sure my skin is fully dry and i won’t get any peeling/extreme dryness. i think it’s really good 1-2 a week for acne and anti-aging!
🙌🏽 Day 3 - I love the Chanel eyeshadow, it’s a beautiful colour. Good to know re the Josh Rosebrook product pricing, not sure if I’ll find it on sale in the Caribbean but will defo check when I am out there in May otherwise will stock up when in America next year. I think I will get Michelle’s book on audio because it is massive 😳. Great range of faves 💕 xxx
So excited about the book recommendations! On the DE A-Passioni.. I wasn’t a huge fan! Like you mentioned, I found it to be too harsh even when mixed with a cream/oil. :(
Read 'the woman in the window' as you already have the book! It is not easy to grasp the main character at first but you will get through it and there are some unexpected twists, I'm sure you would like it! x
I found the Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream to be rather harsh but now I mix it with the B-Hydra Serum at night and it seems to work well without causing much dryness or any peeling. However, I also use it full strength as a spot treatment for my cystic acne. I apply it directly on the pimple with a Q-tip and it has definitely made progress with some of my more stubborn acne areas.
Would love to see more of you out and about in Brighton and Hove and some of your favourite places to eat and shop
Yes I'm coming next month with my mother and would love tips on how to walk Brighton from the train station. Food, shopping, must see etc
She has a blogpost about it from 2018 just in case you haven’t seen that. A vlog would be better though.
Thanks Susan! Will see what I can do! xx
Loving checking in with you every day! 💜

PlugInKali just what I was going to come and say, except you did it better than I could have:-)
This is v useful, thank you!
PlugInKali retinol is not the only scientifically proven ingredient to improve exogenous ageing. you are probably confusing retinol with tretinoin. retinol shows promise but it is the less efficacious out of all the retinoids available currently.
So helpful - thank you! x

Hi! I would love a video on your favourite books of all time. Which are the books you keep thinking about to explain life and people?
Read 'the woman in the window' as you already have the book! It is not easy to grasp the main character at first but you will get through it and there are some unexpected twists, I'm sure you would like it! x
I LOVED Becoming by Michelle Obama. What an incredible woman. Haha I cried a few times too for a variety of reasons. 👌🏼💕 xxxx
I ‘read’ the audio book version of Michelle Obama’s book and it was incredible! Wonderful writing, wonderful woman 😍
Your eyes look gorgeous!!
