I didn't tell anyone until I was 50 and I am 64 now and I have PTSD and it is a constant struggle everyday. I wish people would understand.

What she has is Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and alot of people who have been abused in many ways suffers from this.
You do not have to be a Military Veteran to suffer from this, you can suffer through this with all kinds of abuse and bullying can bring this on.
Yes. She needs Therapy from a Professional who has training in this and it will be very difficult for someone to just stop the thoughts. Asking someone to stop traumatic thoughts is just like demanding someone to eat soup with a fork.
The only way she can control the thoughts is through individual therapy and group therapy.

It's not always easy.. I told on my rapist when I was 6 and he tried to rape my sister he was never arrested .. we were taken to foster homes and they never made him face his actions.. if it was as easy as just speaking up alot more rapists would be in jail ..

Hooooo boy I had so many thoughts when this episode ended. This man actually resents her for being abused as a child, and make no mistake, he’s going to keep throwing it in her face if she keeps him around. She couldn’t even say a good thing about him but said he was her best friend. If he resents her so much he needs to leave her so that someone who loves her and will be there to help her get through the trauma not whine about how he wants to go “have fun”. There’s a reason he’s keeping her around and it’s not good. What he’s doing is emotionally abusive. She needs to leave him, he is a sad, little boy with a cold soul.

And sure, it doesn't define you, you can go on to live a happy normal life, you can even 'move on', I completely agree with that statement. But it is a part of you forever. And when you least expect it, it will come back to haunt you. Whether it's in your nightmares, or in a flashback many years from now.
No one is in any position to dictate how a victim deals with their trauma. Just because it inconveniences them in some way? Really? Sure chief.

Yes I agree. My Aunt's husband molested me when I was nine. I'm now 51 and I just finally forgave him about seven years ago. It definitely took alot off of me. I of course have not forgave him face to face because I can't see him. If I see his pic on FB I just have to scroll on. I had to forgive in order to be forgiven. It beverages leaves your mind.

The last thing she really needs right now is not to be in a relationship. She needs to work on herself through Therapy. Both individual and group. The Therapist needs to have clear cut training on Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in order for this young lady can have a positive, successful breakthrough.
She would be alot more happier if she lives alone with a goldfish and puppy than having a juvenile jerk as a boyfriend who doesn't have a clue and in his own way can become abusive. A man doesn't have to beat a woman black and blue to abuse her, he can become, verbally, mentally and emotionally abusive and that to can become very traumatic in itself.

In the end she said “no” and told him what she expects from him in the meantime and gave him a deadline. Most adults are not capable of communicating that way. She is very smart and eloquent despite her experiences. Shout out to her!

This is settling. Settling for something less than you deserve. Nobody, man or woman, deserves to be treated with such disregard and callousness. If you truly love someone, you always believe them and trust in their word. You don't need a lie detector test to tell you they're telling the truth that they were sexually assaulted. You don't need their family to believe that it happened, you don't need anyone else to believe that it happened. When you love and *trust* someone, their word is enough.
If this woman stays with him and marries him, she will be miserable forever. This is a person, (not a man, a person), that is too much of a coward to stand up and fight for and believe in his woman. When you're with people like him, you'll never be truly happy. There will always be another reason why he doesn't trust her completely or believe her word alone. He puts her down and tells her to just get over it. As if the pain is a switch that can be turned off. He's a pathetic scumbag.
As someone who was in the mœlested when they was younger. I have not "got over" my molestation been like five years. No matter what everyone has some kind of trauma, and with that no matter how long it's been. There's not a set time for you to heal. someone who is 105 may still not a fully healed because there's no set limit for healing! And this upsets me because I hate when people what always say oh "you should get over this" or like "you should get over a breakup." It could be that or you should get over your breakup or your childhood trauma urbanex your family because they 99% of the time have never been through. Whatever cause you that pain!

It doesn't define who we are, it shapes how we see the world, and we can change that.
What defines us is our character, and how we respond to life's experiences.
I am speaking from rock solid experience myself here and I love my life now.
I experienced multiple abuses, all three - physical, sexual and emotional. None of those defines who I am now.
I have grown into a strong woman with courage, perseverance and determination. ❤️

When I was in counselling as a child to talk about what had happened to me when I was younger, I didn't talk about what had happened to me. Whenever the counselor asked me a question, I would tense and talk about something else. I think I started talking about the stories I had been reading about in the Haunted Canada series. The counselor told my teacher, my teacher got angry with me, and when I had to go back to the counselor because I had a mental breakdown in the fucking classroom, I refused to go. My mother had to come get me because I locked myself in the girl's washroom and would not unlock the door. My teacher couldn't talk to me, my favourite teacher couldn't talk me out. By the time my mother showed up, the police were outside the washroom door trying to get me out.
This idiot doesn't know what he's talking about. A victim of abuse isn't always going to speak to a counselor, and as a matter of fact due to my experience with my school counselor as an eleven year old schoolgirl, I don't trust a counselor even today. This boyfriend is a lousy piece of shit. That is all I've got to say.

When I told my boyfriend that I was sexually abused by my own grandfather at 18 - I finally told him earlier this year and he felt like it was his fault and now when he's around, my boyfriend doesn't even let me out with or around my grandfather anymore. Not that I want to either. He's on my side and provides me protection when I need it. I couldn't ask for a better man. I love him so much.
