We visited here two years ago. The gardens are exquisite and we enjoyed our visit tremendously. We walked up those steps just like Lizzy and Darcy did. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I see the Dutch garden looks lovely despite much of it being washed away not long after our visit.
Of course, we have been to the "other" Mr Darcy's Pemberley ;-) But the BBC MiniSeries with Colin Firth is the favourite P&P version of most Anglophiles. So glad you were able to visit Lyme Park. I would love to do the same one day... still haven't made it to Manchester or Liverpool yet!
That’s Chatsworth, right? I’d love to go there someday, too. I love how heated the debate gets when someone on Twitter asks “Which P&P is the best” … everyone has a preference 😁
I visited Lyme Park a few years ago! The 1995 Pride & Prejudice is my favorite version. I even made a video of approaching Pembley as they did in the movie. Fun. Cherished visit.
That’s awesome! I felt real emotions when I arrived there, having watched the 1995 P&P for probably 2 decades prior to getting there. It was surreal and wonderful.
Wonderful video. The weather looked not that great but thats to be expected this time of year. The main facade was half covered in scaffolding when I visited so its good to see all of that is gone. Thanks for sharing and I hope your trip continues to be excellent! cheers from barnyz
Yep, it was rubbish weather so not great for walking around the gardens! I definitely want to return during the summer! And I need a couple more hours to walk around! I thought 3 hours would be enough but it flew by!
If you do ever visit the area look up Bramall Park a few miles down the road (A magnificent black and white timber-framed Tudor manor house set in 70 acres of parkland) and there is a train station nearby. Also Lyme Park is on the edge of the Peak District National Park and Buxton is nearby and also Chatsworth which is the best stately home in England.
Bramall Park looks awesome! Even better that there’s a train station. I rely on public transport and that can make it tough sometimes to get to those stately homes. Thanks for all the recommendations! I’m very much hoping to visit that area again soon.
Do visit Chatsworth if you ever get the chance - the house and grounds are magnificent. For American visitors there is a particular connection in that one of President Kennedy's sisters is buried within the grounds of the estate.@@britainonabudget
Very smart! You'll need to find time to visit Brodick castle on Arran, and the Marquis of Bute's amazing Mount Stuart house on the island of Bute. You may have already visited Pollok house in Glasgow 's Pollok country park already (nice scones etc there in the old kitchen in the basement!).
The grounds are just gorgeous! We're not familiar with the mini series (sorry!), so we're basing our opinion strictly on the home & property itself. It's lovely! Perhaps a bit "cold," but lovely and stately nonetheless. The gardens though!
I think this place can be appreciated by anyone, whether or not they’ve seen the miniseries. I just went a little extra fangirl because of it 😜 The gardens, to be honest, are the true highlight!
@@britainonabudget Mrs. Gardiner agrees with you, "If it were merely a fine house richly furnished," said she, "I should not care about it myself; but the grounds are delightful. They have some of the finest woods in the country." (From the book, never saw the movies, although I keep meaning to.)
I like going around old places seeing how people (the rich in this case) lived hundreds of years ago. I don't like creepy mannequins hanging around with their blank faces though, maybe that's just me :-)
Haha, sorry about that … they are a bit creepy! But I liked the costumes and then the guy (Butler?) at the table couldn’t be avoided. The staffer who was explaining how the route through the house worked was saying it goes up from the richest parts then ends where the servants lived. I said “oh well, they know that’s my proper place” and she responded “oh me too” 😂
Never watched it but enjoy the books, do love a bit Victorian porn hehe. This place really is quite amazing isn't it! 😃 The gardens are so beautiful, very stylistic of the period 😊
I didn’t realize how exquisite the gardens are! They were a real highlight for me. Unfortunately, I did not leave enough time for myself and only got to do a quick walk around!
Beautiful share❤.Thank you for taking us to Mr. Darcy’s house. Just like in the P and P 🎥
LOVE the "aerial" view of the garden below. What a lovely garden!

I’m so glad you got to see it! It is a gorgeous house in its own right and the gardens really are incredible!
I was here about 25 years ago in December and could only visit the grounds, which was more than enough in the cold weather 😢
Oh no that’s too bad. But the grounds are truly lovely I hope you got to explore them a bit!

Ah I really enjoyed that. Never been there before 🙂🙂👍
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. 🙏🏽
@@britainonabudget Yes thanks. I'm working my way slowly through your other videos . 👍 🙂

Watch out for the ceiling in the dining room, one flake or two Marm 😬

The costumes were cool! But the "faceless" part of the mannequins were a bit creepy and offputting. LOL
