I was pissed FOR YEARS when they took my volcano taco from me. Then I realized my local store had leftover sauce and I just put the sauce on regular tacos until one day I finished all their sauce.
And then in like 2012 they made a volcano griller thing, but not the taco or burrito because reasons I guess. So I did the same, taco with volcano sauce. Eventually they ran out so :/ I only ever liked the volcano taco.
Soon enough there’s gonna be a compilation of Josh harassing innocent fast food workers for items he KNOWS they don’t have. But, you know, he’s still polite about it.
The way Trevor is seated at the beginning and the expression on his face makes him seem like a 6 year old just open-mouthed smiling in awe of his weird, trying to be hip, mayonnaise loving dad.

Interesting note. I saw an interview with a guy who worked in Taco Bell’s corporate in the ‘90s. A new Frito Lays factory opened that had the capability to create the shell. They briefly tried to start Doritos tacos in ‘92, but Frito Lays didn’t agree with the plan. So, as far as i can tell, they never even made one. We could have had 20 extra years of Doritos Locos. :(
Fun fact.. that story's bs. Frito Lays and Taco Bell are both owned by Pepsi. They could have done it the whole time and that whole story is to keep people from realizing it all comes from one company.

As for this story I'm not sure if it's true or not but is plausible as even then the companies had their own leadership and pepsi not knowing much about the restaurant business wpuld.hav surely listened to the companies objections. At the end of the day it's about money and they weren't ambitious enough to try it then.

the volcano menu was my favorite. i was hurt when they discontinued it. 2 of my favs was to add volcano sauce to the mexican pizza. and 2 in my area i was able to have volcano tacos side by side with the dorito nacho taco. so i added volcano sauce to the nacho dorito tacos

I think one of the reasons American's don't like spicy food is how we market them. Terms like fire, volcano, or diablo make it sound like the spicy experience is going to be painful and unpleasurable, and sure you can eventually get to that extreme with spicy foods, but volcano tacos, while spicy, didn't really get to that point, and most people, can handle the heat.
I follow soo many food shows, but you make a significant difference in the game Josh! My kids are interested in kitchen monstrosities and you're to blame🤘

My friend and I tried making the lava sauce in highschool; around 2009. We found a recipe that called for habeneros so we made it and it was nothing like lava sauce. It was pure spicy death.
It had a slight heat to it, but definitely wasn't spicy. I used to eat a solid dozen of them without taking a drink of anything. The spice profile of the lava sauce made them so delicious!
That is BY FAR my most missed discontinued food item of ALL time (just the sauce). I ❤'d Lava Sauce so much I would make them add it to every item I got on the menu. I've tried for... I guess 12 years to find it again. I will attempt this recipe.
Then there is the Tropical Company Scorpion Pepper Sauce: 530,000 scoville units. My mouth stays on fire for 40 plus minutes after I'm finished eating it. I've had taco bells spiciest sauce and it was extremely weak.
A friend of mine is apparently so sensitive to spices that pepperoni pizza is too spicy for him. Meanwhile, I'm over here dumping several different hot sauces on every meal in order to feel something

My friend and I tried making the lava sauce in highschool; around 2009. We found a recipe that called for habeneros so we made it and it was nothing like lava sauce. It was pure spicy death.
See you should have used ghost peppers, that would’ve worked!

Okay hold up, not spicy? It felt like literal lava on my tonque with the sizzling when I first had it yet I still ate it.
It had a slight heat to it, but definitely wasn't spicy. I used to eat a solid dozen of them without taking a drink of anything. The spice profile of the lava sauce made them so delicious!

That is BY FAR my most missed discontinued food item of ALL time (just the sauce). I ❤'d Lava Sauce so much I would make them add it to every item I got on the menu. I've tried for... I guess 12 years to find it again. I will attempt this recipe.

I've had taco bells spiciest sauce and it was extremely weak.
A friend of mine is apparently so sensitive to spices that pepperoni pizza is too spicy for him. Meanwhile, I'm over here dumping several different hot sauces on every meal in order to feel something
