- A long time ago, I made a series of around 25 videos in American Truck Simulator. I'd played about 4 hours of Euro Truck previously, and liked it, but American Truck Sim was the new hotness. Herself, in her infinite wisdom bought me a steering wheel so that I could become a master as all things truck-sim-related. It helped, but I found that it made my road-dominating beligerance far more pedestrian. So, I left the series as my proficiency removed the scrapes and japes that made the commentary zesty.
Many years have passed, and I return. It goes as well as expected. If not better.

Always good to see some truckin here. I think I found you because I wondered if "Soviet Republic" was any good and you where by far not just the least annoying, but most entertaining youtubists handling the topic, but I stayed due to the "Mud runners" videos. They where nothing but gold. Now it's what? 4-ish years later and I still come back all the time :)
As a multi dropper, delivering full trailer to small shops in big town centres this was so frustrating but also so funny to watch!! Keep it going haha

There are quite a number of useful mods that you can get through the steam workshop if that's where you purchased the game. One of them I like is the Realistic Physics mod. It does help stop the truck from flipping over like that.
It's a very post-modernist interpretation of "great" but that said MORE PLIX tyvm!1

SatNav tried to kill me in Plymouth. Those little country roads, fine when you're two-way traffic on a one lane road. Everyone is polite and patient with the stupid furriner. It's the blind entry into a busy road at the end that'll kill you.

I like to play this game when I need to chill out. I am at the stage now where my deliveries are all cross-country and take ages to do.
If you like first person driving and use a wheel, you can get something called "head tracking" that you can use with a webcam or a cell phone. It will use the camera to track your head movement and allows you to look around without using your mouse. I've seen some other people use it and it seems to work rather well.
I thought you took that corner pretty well. I've no idea where you took it, though.

Yes, you can zoom in and out of the GPS by pressing the F5 button.
This is 1 of the few games I actually think is better with the magic science helmet. My 1 gripe over this game is: the Devs have no idea what a motorway is.
Thats an original bit of the game, to be fair they have learned a lot over time and are gradually replacing those clunky generic prefab junctions from the original base game with much more realistic ones - unfortunately I suspect the UK is bottom of the list for rebuilding for various reasons.
Austria, Switzerland, plus big chunks of Germany have been fully rebuilt over the past couple of years, interesting to see a company revisiting and rebuilding a a decade old base game to modern standards as a free upgrade rather than just binning it and starting again.
@@martynread977 I suspect it's a good means of practice and testing for a later game.
There's always promods, unless that got abandoned. I had to use that just to get the part of the country I lived in...
I got so fed up with continually patching the game up I just stopped using it at all though :S
@@Pjs-ge7gk their current business model is really selling DLCs, the major ones being map expansions - their view is the base game (10 years old, and you can pick it up very cheaply these days) is the hook to get new players interested, and if playing the base game is a poor/dated experience then it doesn't really encourage you to expand it.
Much less point in driving a really long route, say from Vigo to Istanbul (for instance) if both those places, *and everywhere you passed on the way* were to look almost identical to each other, but mostly nothing like the real world places, why would you bother to explore that far? - So they think there is a really good reason to gradually upgrade the base map to match the current DLC standards to hook new players, which do still keep showing up a decade in!
A better built world gives you more incentive to explore it, and so encourages you to keep expanding it.
The same is occurring in sister ATS - most of California has now been rebuilt from scratch as a free update in parallel with the multiple teams working on new states to sell.
@@Karibanu yeah Promods is still around, really good (and adds my city also which is cool!) 😃
But between the SCS updates and the Promods ones it is a lot more work than I want to currently do to keep the game playable, so whilst I've a profile for a Promods map I mostly don't use it much these days as I'd have to manually go and download lots of things to update it.
I just use stock SCS map/DLCs and a small number of mods almost all from Steam so they auto update these days, much less faff.
I'm great at American Truck Simulator. But with Eurotruck 2, I'm completely awful at it. All the roads are so narrow and the traffic AI, which is mostly brain-dead in both sims, makes even pulling out onto the highways near impossible to do without a crash. Eurotruck is American Truck Simulator on "Hard Mode". Just driving on those roads and highways is like threading a needle with a fat magic marker at all the times.

I always thought I could drive in England if I ever went there. How hard could driving on the other side of the road be, after all? I have watched British TV shows and thought, sure, yeah, no problem. After a 1/2 hour of watching the colonel actually try to do it, I have come to the conclusion I'd take the train, or an Uber.

I use a game pad to steer so I've no chance with where do you want it after many failed attempts. I just go play it safe😂

Like all from Grimsby the best decision you made was to leave. You can tell the devs have never actually been it was far too bright and clean.
