For those watching, there are slots under the headshell lift. The angle of the cartridge absolutely is adjustable. It even states such toward the back of the manual. That said, it wonder how hard it would be to reverse-engineer a plinth out of real mahogany or whatever kind of wood.
I have this exact turntable and I love it. I have had it for a year and a half now and it has been perfect for me. Love the Blu tooth feature and the built in amp. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants that 1st turn table to have for the house! So glad you reviewed this one .
For their asking price, that is a very nice looking and decent sounding turntable! Especially from "1-by-One" who are a pretty generic record player distributor.... I love that 'cherry' wood plinth, with the silver metal controls - nice detail touch there! 👍
The tonearm and anti skate etc look exactly like my 17 year old Pro-Ject Debut SE turntable, so I wonder if Pro-Ject supply parts for this turntable. Very interesting indeed. If it's like the Pro-Ject, then yes, you can move the whole cartridge forward and backwards to get the alignment set properly. You just cannot see that looking down at that bit on top
Thanks for reviewing some of these common turntables found on Amazon at Walmart. I’ve often been curious about these lesser-known brands popping up all over the place.
Lenco here in Europe sells a very similar turntable: Lenco LBT-188 ... Lenco's variant can often be found for just under €200 here in Europe but some customers complain of issues with the anti-skating... the weight doesn't seem to stop the arm from moving outward.
As a owner of vintage turntables there seems to be no reason to buy vintage anymore as current turntables are so good. At that price it is a steal. I definitely don't need it, but I definitely want it.
Buying as a gift for Christmas. I have generally purchased used vintage for myself but I can only buy something shippable for my friend. Its between this at $135, the Fluance RT80 at $169, or the Audio Technica At-LP60XBT at $159. Having a hard time picking as they all have concerns. Fluance lacks features, Audio Technica is of cheap materials, and this guy might have some QC issues, especially with speed control which appears un-adjustable. Which would you go with?
That’s a tough one. All great units. If they want automatic than you can’t beat the Lp60x (plus it’s the only one with BT) But the RT80 is SOLID…..hmmmm the 1byOne has some platter wobble…..arrrgghhhh the conflict!! Uh ……. I would pick…… the RT80 I suppose. They are all great.
I have specific needs for a turntable, but apart from the cartridge being hard to upgrade, I’d have no problem recommending this turntable for those who want something affordable. It looks like it’s built very well, it has a nice solid plinth, aluminium platter and even the controls look solid too. The added bonus of it having Bluetooth also allows you to play it on any system as well. Not that I’m a big fan of Bluetooth myself, but many people use it as the primary source these days. I know a few friends who want to buy a turntable, but because I live in Australia, I don’t know if this turntable is available here or not.
This turntable really is a step up from the suitcase and lower end record players! The varnished wood plinth is really nice! Not a fan of that type of anti-skate though! Overall really nice!
The first thing I noticed was that there was no detachable head-shell and. like you, that disappointed me somewhat. However, the rest of it really impressed, especially for such a low price. I loved the high gloss and colour of the plinth
Hi, I wanted to buy this turntable but I can’t because it can’t be shipped to France. I found on Amazon a very similar one, the SeeYing HP-H0056. Do you know if it’s reliable or not ?
Heck, I'd buy that before I'd buy a Rega Planar 1. I think that would benefit from a somewhat better cartridge--say, an Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN. (I'm not dissing the AT3600L, which is a great cartridge in its own right.) Or the AT-VM95C if you want to stick with a conical stylus. Rega doesn't publish specs for its turntables. It's entirely possible that this inexpensive turntable matches the Planar 1's specs for wow and flutter and rumble. Some folks will say, "But the Rega tonearm!" Sure. But if the tonearm isn't introducing any resonance, it's probably just fine. By the way, I've become a fan of some of that cheesy old stuff. Enoch Light produced stacks of records, and you can almost always count on them to sound good. Recordology, if you haven't tried Billy Vaughn, you might enjoy his stuff, up until the mid-1960s. Vaughn's stuff on Dot Records tends to sound great. It's easy-listening, but Vaughn brought it up a notch or two over folks like Andre Kostelanetz. He usually had a sax player (often two) who were clearly having fun. So the stuff is just fun, and good examples sound great just as records.
You need to take the folks at 1 by One to school. I was having problems with my arm skating until I saw your video. You also track much heavier than their instructions. Way to go and thank you!
Nice turntable great way to start. Just wondering for your thoughts on leveling your turntable. Do you do it. And does it matter in overall sound quality. Maybe do a video. Like to see what you think about it.
i got the Lenco LBT-188 which is the same turntable as here, cause it looked very solid at a decent price with very decent performance. Certainly way better than the usual suitcase players and i was not ashamed to pick that turntable for my dad. For someone who listens to records casually, not a bad pick at all, i think. The only downside is, that the turntable switches itself off after a while and you have to reengage the powerswitch at the back to make it spin again with the start/stop knob.
I was going to purchase this, but there is no replaceable headshell, only that flattened tab. Different records require different cartridges and styli. It is a beautiful turntable. Maybe, I will get this and install a different tonearm. I really don't like the anti-skate weight and would rather a spring system. Why didn't they make this a 3-speed system? Your videos are always enjoyable, so thank you very much.
Great. Thanks! I have the Retro life oo six version of this turntable and it is wonderful but I had to go underneath and remove that black plastic housing to get to the motor controls to correct the speed. I could see where that could be an all-day project for some as the two speed controls are extremely sensitive. But once set properly the turntable is fantastic! Its own arm has been upgraded and now is minus the anti-skate weight as it is built-in like on some higher-end turntables. The tone arm is wonderful and the bearing friction low so you can upgrade the Audio-Technica 3600l cartridge to the 91b yellow stylus that tracks at 2 G
The platter wobble is unacceptable, not something I'd keep. Other than that, a nice turntable. In that price range I'd be tempted to look for a deal on a Fluance RT81
Hello I have this model great turntable but lately I've noticed that the speed drops and it's very noticeable I've been playing tag with 1 by one techs and they won't give me a definite answer. My guess is the belt might be worn-out or the speed adjustment under the platter needs to be tweaked any suggestions?
Yes the Lanco LBT-188 seems to be identical. On Amazon Germany I found the 1 by ONE only with two speakers included at a promo price, not the turntable by itself.
Very nice. If I needed a new turntable, this one might be a contender. Still prefer my SL D2 because headshell, direct drive, speed adjustment, etc. But this is definitely nicer to look at.
I have seen this TT many times from others but their review was not as thorough as yours you looked at all the things i want to see this to me is a great TT and i would consider this not entry level but above I love the high gloss on it it looks like a very high quality unit you did a FANTASTIC job reviewing this TT I would love to have it but it being manual i cannot buy it only if it was free [maybe] ,the crosley C-10 I consider it a step above beginners they seem to have same type of tonearm ,build and looks but the One by One looks a little better ,ln my opinion anyone wanting a TT that won't break the bank but be a high quality unit can do no better than this one thing I am curious about is why is it named one by one ?????? Nice turntable. Something has happened to your audio direct feed. Last couple of videos the sound has been mono. I can tell it’s stereo when you use your stereo microphone on the camera, but your direct feed no longer is stereo.
Has anyone been able to successfully upgrade and align the new cartridge on this turntable? It seems as if you'd have to do a little "customization" of the headshell screw holes in order to be able to upgrade.
I would definitely have that record player. but I have a shit load of hi fi's record players ect. My experience is a magnetic stylus sounds great, but they tend to jump at the slightest thing. I prefer a ceramic stylus i.e a B.S.R record player where that rarely skips on a record. I hate it when you are away for the toilet and you can hear a record playing the same bit over and over again! It pisses me off, but the Same record playing all the way through no bother on a 70's B.S.R rather than hitting the skids on a modern record player with magnetic cartridge. I suppose it would piss the snobby folk who have to listen to hi end record players that cost a bomb. I prefer old fashioned well maintained record players that aren't cheaply made, and costing a bomb! That one you bought looks great to me though!
That actually looks pretty nice. It seems competitive with the U-turn and Pro-Ject offerings in the same price range, although those companies seem to put more of the budget into the cartridge.
@@Recordology Im using the Line out switch with the Living room sound system (sound bar) with the RCA wires I will try the bluetooth if that crunchy noise continues

Nice to see an entry level, inexpensive record player that isn't total garbage.
LIKE 19. It's refreshing that the 1 by One turntable is actually built well and performs well. :)
I have this exact turntable and I love it. I have had it for a year and a half now and it has been perfect for me. Love the Blu tooth feature and the built in amp. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants that 1st turn table to have for the house! So glad you reviewed this one .
Hey there, quick question! I’ve noticed my rpm is around 34 instead of 33 1/3.. do you know how I can slow it down? Thank you!!
For their asking price, that is a very nice looking and decent sounding turntable! Especially from "1-by-One" who are a pretty generic record player distributor....
I love that 'cherry' wood plinth, with the silver metal controls - nice detail touch there! 👍
The counterweight looks like an engineering afterthought.
Hi, That is one of the most impressive turntables I have seen for $159. Great price and it looks so beautiful!!
What a great entry-level turntable! The looks and the price are amazing!
As usual, great review!
The tonearm and anti skate etc look exactly like my 17 year old Pro-Ject Debut SE turntable, so I wonder if Pro-Ject supply parts for this turntable. Very interesting indeed. I have this exact turntable except I replaced the cartridge with a ortifon red and it sounds amazing

Can I connect any speaker to this with an RCA cable or is it only Bluetooth? Thanks for the review.
Oh, and Amazon has a $25 coupon for this turntable right now bringing the cost down to $135! Seems to me that is a pretty good deal.
$40 coupon now, bringing it down to $119
As a owner of vintage turntables there seems to be no reason to buy vintage anymore as current turntables are so good. At that price it is a steal. I definitely don't need it, but I definitely want it.
Looking at the 1 by one website, I'd say this is the H005 model

I’m using mine right now to digitize some records, I’ve been very happy with it.
i think that a good upgrade to this turntable might be:
Audio Technica VM95E Cartridge
Art DJ Pre 2 phono preamplifier
Decent slipmat
They are getting better … this unit is very nice 👍 the album is great have to look for it at my thrift store,
what do you think is better this turn table or a LP60XBT?
OOOhhhh hard choice. This one is fully manual, that is fully auto. Its whatever you prefer.
i have a 1 by one turntable, not this same model though. i love it!
What about a DS Audio (DS-E1) and associated interface box might be worth a look.

Very nice! Would be even nicer if it had a speed setting for 78 to play those 40's and 50's era 78's with. :-)

This would be a great choice as a first turntable because of its many attributes!
The close-up views of the TT are just splendid. Did you get a new camera?
Lol… No! It’s just that beautiful that it looks great on camera!
The platter wobble is unacceptable, not something I'd keep. Other than that, a nice turntable. In that price range I'd be tempted to look for a deal on a Fluance RT81

I love the Cherry Wood color. This plinth if absolutely gorgeous!!!
Does this turn table have a speed adjustment ability?
Good question! No, it does not unless you get under the hood which will void your warranty.

Beautiful shiney recordplayer !!
Why are they making manual turntables in this day and age.
A lot of people think the simpler mechanisms mean better purer sound. I myself prefer automatics.
@@Recordology Me too.
Not too shabby. LOL

nice turntable for not much money ,skip those rubbish crossley boxes get this ....

Probably the same OEM
