Free white men have always viewed guns as a means to protect themselves, their families and property. I remember several incidents where the script is often flipped when black men/women have guns and the black community leaves them stranded or to stay silent, per say. Goes from a (black) person defending themselves against government tyranny to a loner less than 5 seconds. Call me skeptical. For example, the Plindo Constile incident a couple years back. An actual gun owner that was shot to death by a cop (city funded government official) even though he wasn't armed at the time and said clearly he was licensed to carry. Hell, even with Brenna Taylor incident black people were still split down the middle about defending their own home from ruthless cops. Even if the person (the general population itself) had a checker past.

I know quite a few Blk Ppl that don't have criminal records, that don't have a weapon, are afraid around them, etc...For example, my 84 yo mother has been around guns because her father was in law enforcement for 7 decades, & my father wasn't a law man, but he believed in self defense. She never has had her gun next to her in her home. If she's in the kitchen, it's in the den, if she's in the bathroom, she doesn't have it with her. For year's I've told, take it every where you go. She wouldn't...until she saw a real crime show where these business partners got into a dispute and one of them began to run to retrieve his weapon & was shot in the back. NOW, she takes everywhere she goes...
