This episode was just shown on TV again, the adjustment on the steering box is for when it's assembled new, it IS NOT a way to take slack out of a worn box. The worm gear wears mostly in the straight ahead position, that means if you tighten it up to remove that slack you put the steel balls inside under enormous pressure when on full lock which will often crack the balls and that's a potential accident. If you are too lazy to rebuild the steering box you can adjust it at both locks but NOT with a spanner, it must be done with fingers only.
For the record the thread on that home made tool is not an acme thread, but he was just reading the script. I came to this video to see how the rear axle was refurbished . All I got was how to take the half shafts out. He never even looked at the state of the diff. There are far too many channels claiming to rebuild vehicles, but just tart them up painting over the rust etc. The wheels were, I suspect, long wheelbase rims. It was quite common to use these with 750 tyres for better off-road grip and better ground clearance.
The correct way to remove the collar is specified in the workshop manual. The collar is ground down until only a small amount of metal eg 1/2 mm remains. Using suitable chisel, hit with a hammer and crack the thin metal. It will pop kpen and slide off
5:04 That is not good clothing when you work with such things. In such work you should wear old clothes that can get dirty (wich Edd does), and not in neat clothes which he does, and then you should not wear an expensive watch at all, better you should not wear a watch at all with that kind of work.

Wonderful amazing nice video
👍🏾 Come back Edd China 👍🏾
Edd China now has his own youtube channel thats simply called Edd China. He is now busy restoring a classic 1986 Range Rover.
Totally pointless comment - Watch Ed’s channel then… which has been going for years! Welcome to 2022 🤦🏻♂️

What’s with the drummer rehearsing throughout the programme? Rather annoying.
AXLE !!!!!
Every video shows Elvis wearing black gloves when 'mechanicing'.....except the one where he is dismantling oily brake drums....

You don’t need to measure that axle to know it’s a series two or three axle. They look so different.
I prefer instalments with Mike Brewer.
Is it just me or are the wheel nuts the wrong way round😂
Beat me too it
Nuts are double sided
No, All Land Rover wheel nuts from 1948 to about 1962 were double ended, they had a taper both ends.
El que venden a 160000 dolares tiene las tuercas de las ruedas al revés
AXLE AXLE AXLE
Punchy price
does it not have a reg or chassis number?
When you find this stupped men?
🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
This program was not interesting at all without the host Edd China, no offense.
Elvis has zero character compared to Edd. So booring.
Load of crap
