Imagine getting jumped by a gang of 10 dudes with knives and guns, making a total massacre out of your body and destroying every little piece that could be used to identify your dead body and then burning the still left alive remaints only for you to say in your dying breath as calmly as LegenVD "Well, onto the next one"
The game vs the ajani/helliod deck was awesome. Opponent might have misplayed slightly by being too passive at some points and in how they distributed counters sometimes, but that was very enjoyable to watch, I still didn't think you'd make it.
To play around gingerbrute you could've cast Keruga instead of tutor at 30:20 then given it lifelink with clarion the following turn. A pretty hindsight-y play but technically there was SOMETHING you could've done to prevent gingerbrute lethal.
I mean he could've also just gotten the White Honden. Seems better to pad the life total because at that point opponent's only chance is to steal the game with fast damage.
@@jzoobs I don't think there was an opportunity for the Honden to kick in, but Keruga would have come down 1 turn earlier and drawn 2 cards in the process.
I’ve watched your videos since Magic Duels, and I’m impressed with your content yes, I think you’re the best Mtg youtuber. However I’m more impressed by your unbiased demeanor and willingness to continue playing through this era of.. imo broken magic. I stopped playing when Eldraine spoilers began, I thought eldraine was bad but omg has mtg gotten worse. Keep up the good work LvD you’re still the GOAT!
I thought Eldraine was good. But yea I think it's been downhill since Dominaria overall. Ikoria especially I really dislike. First one in a while I have straight up not liked.
Imo, I started watching the spoilers and so since War of the Spark. T3feri changed us all... Aside from that (and maybe Big Bolas for Grixis) it wasn't that bad. Oh, sorry, I juat remembered Nissa... Core Set 2020? Chandra and Cavalcade? Fast but even manageable. Agent of treachery? Just in grixis reanimations (which lost against Rakdos) Eldraine? Faster and Stronger. Questing Beast, Fires of Invention... The horror that were Oko and Once upon a Time... But enjoyable, nonetheless. Theros? Faster and Stronger Monored, Azorius-based control (bant/azorius), Selesnya Auras, Simic Ramp... Even Nissa starts to feel "slow" Ikoria... Better consistency due to Cycling, new ways to cheat Agent of Treachery non-ramp dependent, 8-cards starting hands, Nova damage decks which make Gary feel slow in comparison... I think that maybe there will be a ban (winota maybe? AEtherworks marvels is ban as well) but, with time, the set will seem to be inferior to Core Set 2021 (ft. Teferi)
I made a version of this deck that uses Thirst for Meaning and Cathartic Reunion to discard your hondens, which lets you power-draw towards Dance of the Manse. Because all of the hondens cost 5 or less, you can revive all 5 for 7 mana with Dance, without having to worry about the color of the mana you are using. The rest of the deck is just Fires of Invention, control tools (run Justice Strike with the number of Phyxerian Obliterators floating around), Fae of Wishes, and teferi/narset.
I think an all enchantment deck with Umori and the dryad of ilysian groves and the wolf mana enchantment makes a lot of sense with Hondens. It's just more explosive.
Treasure hunt decks are compatible with a lot of companions, even though they're not useful for the deck. Lurrus is definitely the best one to pick up though because it can net you some turn-0 concedes from players who don't want to play Lurrus.
The great strength of the Tempered Steel deck is that if you go against it without removal you die. It's a consistent T4 kill. Make a vid with it please!
Hmm thats a neat combo idea zenith flare and treasure hunt with cycle lands, but yeah if you give away the flare too early and you have no back up win its so fragile.
Ahhh if only changelings could become shrines, but it’s an enchantment subtype. Some sorta enchantment that turns lands into shrines would be cute if they revisit them.
That Game 2 against Winota on the draw.... I hate that card and it's design. No interaction or playing something on your turn before she comes out and you are done. Even holding mana is bad.
The deck looks solid, but the problem is you don't need the Hondens at all! You only cast a total of 3 and never got more than one of the field. It really just speaks volumes about you as a brewer though, it definitely has the base to be a more efficient deck just from your knowledge and intuition alone sans Hondens.
@@literallysomedudeliterally9470 I think what they mean, or at least what I felt, is that the deck doesn't really use the Hondens to win. The game plan is really to just survive until he has the mana for Mastermind's Aquisition to tutor up a silver bullet from the sideboard. Then once the game is totally out of reach, the Hondens are one of the win-cons....but he can also just easily win with Castle Ardenvale making 4/4 Angels. So all that considered , it doesn't really feel like a "Honden Deck" per-se, when it comes to gameplay at least. But I do think it's a decent balance being a competitive and fun way to play with them.
