How to Enable USB in VirtualBox on Windows 10?
Step 1: Open Virtualbox, and then click on 'Help' in the Top Menu.
Step 2: Click on 'About Virtualbox', and there you can find your version Number.
Step 3: After that, go to website virtualbox.org
Step 4: Click on 'downloads', and there find the extension pack related to your version.
Step 5: Now, Go to virtualbox, click on 'File' in top menu, and then click on Preferences.
Step 6: Click on 'Extensions' in left menu, and then click on 'Add new packages'.
Step 7: Select the extension, and install it.
Step 8: After installing the extension, select your windows 10 Virtual machine.
Step 9: Click on 'settings', and then click on 'USB'.
Step 10: Click on 'USB 3.0(xHCI) Controller', and then click on 'Add new USB Filter' in the right section.
Step 11: Click on your USB Flash Drive to select it, and then click on 'ok' button.
Step 12: Start your windows 10 virtual machine, and then go to 'This Pc', you will see your USB Flash Drive under 'Devices and drives'.
It's done.

Thanks, still a good tutorial. Got it all working. Needed it working to check malicious downloaded programs isolated inside a VM and then if all good have the ability to bring it over to my main PC without downloading twice. The preferences part has changed slightly with v7 but if you can’t work that out you may as well just give up

Worked perfectly!
One thing I did find was that my version did not support the latest extension tool pack, but luckily I downloaded the older one when I installed VB.

For those like me using a Linux distro host with this issue, in the command prompt, type "sudo adduser $USER vboxusers" if your USB device still does not show up in the guest OS.
