    I really like the new format integrating the MPG and off-road reviews together. I think that a car shopper would really appreciate all that info in one video.

      +Invincible Osprey Except the fact that the way it's edited makes you wonder if the off-road portion is part of the mpg test. I'm pretty sure it's not, based on all of your previous videos..? The casual viewer may not be able to discern these are two separate tests. Not a criticism, just a suggestion to mention that the off-road part wasn't part of the mpg test.

    I'm surprised it even got up that far with the highway tires they have on! My question is, why on earth would Toyota put those tires on such an off road tough made truck? Put some BF Goodrich AT KO2 on her and she'll climb like a homesick angel!!

      Yep. Those are what I put on my 2013 a few months ago. So far I am loving them in the snow. You take a hit of around 0.2 mpg in mixed driving. Road noise is just a little more than stock and you can only hear it when you really try to.

      +MrKeyboardCommando Like the Hummer was? I live in Colorado, and each time I see a Hummer I have to wonder about the person driving it. I also give them wide birth. I'm still driving a 4Runner, which is now 10 years old. I have never had an issue, and I go up mountain roads without worry. Who wants to wake up at 12k ft atop a mountain to find their beloved yuppiemobile won't start? Or as with the new Jeep Cherokee, go into gear? Toyota gets a lot of heat for not going to transmissions with a higher number of gears sooner, but Jeep is learning the hard way the error of rushing out an untested platform. 9 speeds that don't work are not preferable to 5 that do. I've heard stories of people having the 9-speed replaced 4 times before they give up and trade it in. Jeep won't even recognize the lemon law on these things.

    My aunt has an old land cruiser probably a 1990 or around there and that thing has over 200,000 miles on it and lots of adventuring trips off road and such on it. It is still reliable and it still runs perfectly and now with the problems she is having it is sitting outside in her front yard without maintenance for 90% of the year. I haven't driven it but I must say it is high quality.

    I remember my parents buying a Yukon back in 2008. It had so many problems GM had to buy it back. They went for a 2008 Land Cruiser and they couldn't have made a better choice. 340k miles and runs great. Now I use it to go off road and it's a beast. Love it how may friends wranglers break all the time and this beast just keeps on going weekend after weekend.

    Nice car (truck) but I still can't understand why people in USA don't use winter tires when it's cold and snowing outside. For me it is an obvious procedure - change tyres before winter. And Andrey should know it very well since he is from Russia. So even this test-drive might be finished non optimistic for drivers and cruiser in that forest on summer tyres. So please tell me - winter tyres are common to use or no one heard of them in US even in those states where snow 'n' ice are usual in winter?
    Sorry for my English.

    • @jbnrusnya_should_be_punished
      @jbnrusnya_should_be_punished 8 років тому +1

      ***** In CA state I also do not see a reason to put on winter tires when there is only rain in winter. But I guess there are a few states in US where roads are coated by the snow during the winter season? And in the news and UA-cam I see that people can't drive and even light snow called snow storm. Mostly because of all season tires. I tried to use that type of tires one season but they are only for summer time and in winter they are really sucks.
      In this video guys showed that this expensive LC quite weak even on light snow and the reason again those all season tires. Because everyone know that on winter tires like Continental or Nokian this truck would become a Jeep Wrangler in a mud. But on tires from dealer it can't drive even in there where they tested it.

    • @Bobbybeb
      @Bobbybeb 8 років тому +4

      Well in my home state of Kentucky, winters can greatly vary and are very unpredictable. In my region of the state, all season tires are okay year round.

    • @gamebredduramax2577
      @gamebredduramax2577 8 років тому

      here in the U.S most people with trucks and suv's use all terrain type tires to get the best of both worlds for wet, dry,or snowy surfaces,instead of a dedicated tire 1 way or the other.

    • @FCFordLord
      @FCFordLord 8 років тому

      In the USA, we have all terrain/all season tires that outperform similarly priced snow tires. IE A $400 set of all seasons generally outperforms a set of $400 snow tires, and you end up not needing two sets.
      I tried the snow tire route before, there was no benefits over the all seasons I have. In some winter conditions, snow tires were actually worse.

    • @Bobbybeb
      @Bobbybeb 8 років тому +1

      +FCFordLord I think the snow tires are made with a softer rubber similar to off road tires. They are suppose to grip better in snow but usually have poor wet traction performance. We have all season tires on the 4runner and had an unusual heavy snow fall last year and the all season tires performed great, given the fact they had deep tread.

I love the G Wagon, and i plan on buying one the day i can afford it, but im going to tell the dealer "uh uh, dont sell me this shit if its going to come with kuhmo's" give me some michelins, pirellis, or bridgestones. Michelins are great for comfort, have the MTX M/S on my trooper and they are great. But if im going to spend $134,000 on a brand new g wagon, I don't want chinese tires

    • @FCFordLord
      @FCFordLord 8 років тому

      +Frank Magana Kumho's are some of the best tires out there, as far as high end all season and all terrain light truck tires go.
      I used them on my Impreza (KR21's) and on my '79 Chevy K20 (Road Venture AT, iirc). Both sets outperformed average snow tires. The K20 was used as a plow rig, commercial and residential.
      Great tires that I would recommend over just about any other brand I have tried.

      I'm sure if requested, Toyota would swap out the tires at the dealership at no charge at the time of purchase. Most people here in states that buy a land cruiser will probably only use it on the road and Toyota rather have ride comfort over aggressive tires.

    Think about this: Would you say that it is the tires OR could it be weight? The tires seemed to be cleaning as they should, I have the same tire on my FJ and it hops over similiar bumps in the snow. I'm not defending the tires- just trying to think of the real problem in that STOP/ GO on a snowy hill challenge.

  • @wildbill23c

    Fuel economy will vary a lot depending on fuel quality, driver, location, temperature, etc.
    A guy on a Toyota Tundra forum just threw a transfer case from a land cruiser into his tundra to give the tundra the full time 4WD option as well as the part time 4WD option.
    I wouldn't really be running that hill with those tires, but it goes to show they are quite capable. Traction control is way too intrusive in these situations, but I can see why it needs to be there for those who can't drive worth crap LOL. I turn the traction control off in my truck whenever I'm in 4WD so I have more control.
    Trouble is there wasn't an actual fuel economy test, you can't measure fuel economy while playing in the snow LOL.

    Have you tested the consistency of your "click - wait 30 seconds - click" method? Does it vary from pump to pump? I suspect that there is a great deal of variability. This can radically change your "measured" mileage, especially for very efficient vehicles where a small variance in fuel measured makes a huge difference in the mileage calculation.

    • @Bobbybeb
      @Bobbybeb 8 років тому

      Well they have used the same gas station. Gas stations are usually well regulated and tested to make sure the amount is correct. But like anything mechanical, the pumps can fail or vary when measuring the amount of fuel.

    • @jamesbeaman6337
      @jamesbeaman6337 8 років тому

      +Bobby0345 They also make a point to use the same pump both times so that takes out any pump to pump differences.
