Net worth breakdown for the last three years: revealed in video. Scrolling up to hit the like button: priceless and greatly appreciated! 😎 DROP ANY QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS DOWN BELOW WE WILL BE ANSWERING EVERYTHING THAT COMES IN FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS!
We both just applied and interviewed a lot of places! Had pretty good resumes, Sent in over 300 apps, and just interviewed and interviewed! It’s just a numbers game and if you keep at it you’ll find a landing spot you are excited about.
Been following you guys right from, “day in life of software engineer at Twitter” video , the ups and downs you’ve been through in the youtube journey and now many congratulations for becoming millionaires.🎉
I started to follow Josh and Katie's Chanel in 2020, and I would say their story gave me a lot of inspiration. Following their house-building process on Insta day by day is like an amazing journey. As a student in Canada, I am ready to break into the Tech industry as a Full Stack SWE :D I would like to shout out and say thank you to Josh and Katie, and you guys are awesome!
Thanks for the transparency! Your videos motivated me make the switch from working as a SWE in retail to tech. The pay difference was not what I was expecting (in a good way). 😉
wow! that's a great video, I am a graduate student now majoring in computer science as well, have plans to get into a good tech job and hopefully follow the vision that you guys have...
While I’m very happy for you both & flabbergasted at the jaw-dropping salary for jobs straight out of college, this made me cry because I had no such luck. I’m stuck with my $10/hr job that I had in college because I never found a relevant job for my BSc in biology degree (2014). I’ve stopped looking at this point because it’s always a never ending list of requirements that they want even for entry-level positions… Minimum 5 years experience or you need to have taken specific classes, certificates etc. etc….right out of college. 😭
Intership exp and volunteering counts as experience. Go do relevent things for free until they pay you for it. Until then keep that job that pays you. You don't need to work full time, just be continuously employed/interning/volunteering with said company/organization, and keep an eye on specific "named" requirements (some employers may want a specific speciality/focus). In some cases, you may be able to substitute years in school for experience. Apply anyways, get to the interview, and come clean. Just tell them straight up and ask if they're really looking for several years experience for an entry level position. If they say yes, deadass ask them to intern for free under a senior staffer to get the experience. Tell them that you can't commit 100% if they're not willing to pay and ask if they can work around your paying job (word it as your "paying job" and not your "other job"). Tell them after 2 years you expect to have enough experience and that you'll be asking them to re-evaluate you for an entry level *paid* position. Also, while you're here commenting on videos, go watch videos on sales and negotiations. EVERYTHING is a negotiation if you talk to the right person, if they like you enough to listen, and if you work towards a mutual good.
@@randomuserame thank you so much Ben for your reply! I have no idea why i didn't get an notification for your comment. I saw it by pure chance while re-visiting this video and my comment lol. I will actually screen shot your comment to remember it
These were pretty normal salaries for SF! We also chose to live well below our means (tiny studio apartment). If you can move to a giant city, but keep your expenses like LCOL college life, you could have a similar outcome.
So happy to see my fav UA-camrs back to creating content. I’ve learned so much from y’all - I got my first tech job after seeing Josh’s Twitter video. I have a lot to learn from Katie’s frugal hustling haha, so happy to see all the success. Trying to get into the real estate market soon just like y’all.
TLDR: - get lucky to get hired in big tech company that also pays in stocks - make sure to find your soul mate because as solo it might take a while to reach this goal - start a UA-cam channel - get lucky in your stocks flying high - frugal life ( not for everybody )
Awesome video! When you got an increase in pay, did you increase long term savings (for car, trips etc) or just the financial freedom savings? I find very difficult to stay with the same budget for this without increasing for buying nicer things 😢
So jealous to live in US and have salaries like this as a fresher, In my country im currently a Java fresher in big international company and getting paid only 25k$ per year so its not that easy
Just listen to the frugal and intelligent nature Katie brings to the relationship. She has probably singlehandedly put them on the correct path for their future. Fellows, Marry well!!!
If I was 26 and living at my parents this plan you have shared would work well but I'm 40 years old, I don't have time on my side. I need a much higher income lets say 50k a month. I don't have time to wait on stocks to go up, and companies to IPO plus waiting for a raise based on experience. How can I make 50k a month in tech?
Yes!! Just what I wanted to see. so inspiring! just got my first step into tech working at Apple part time. About to start school, I was wondering if you had any advice as to which major would be the most open to where I can go into multiple different fields? Again love the content and so great to see the regular videos again!
Fantastic! Josh studied Computer Science, Katie studied business management. We both have a lot of different career opportunities, so both great majors IOP.
Hello, my name is Miguel Diganchi, I'm an Argentinian Computer Engineer, Software Architect, System Analyst, and Multiplatform Application Development Technician who loves to build digital solutions. If you want, we can create your next futuristic company ;)
Don't think being frugal made you guys millionaires. Its better to earn more or have another income stream than aggressively cutting spending (unless you have budget/spending issues).
We disagree, we know many people who earn as much as we do but have little to none net worth and savings. If you don’t know how to keep money and grow money, you’ll never get ahead regardless of how much you make.
@@JoshandKatie Fair enough. Different experiences I guess. I do know people who try to save every dollar but miss out on big pay raises because they dont push their manager for it.
I don’t mean this in a negative way and I hope it doesn’t come across that way. I’m a Latter-day Saint, I’m your age, and my net worth is around $200k. One reason it’s so “low” is because I was told I have have kids immediately and be a SAHM. I have two kids and I had to get a hysterectomy at 26, so I don’t regret it… but i do kind of wish I took a similar path to yours. How did/do you deal with judgmental Latter-day Saints who disagree with you for not having kids yet and focusing on “worldly things”?
I understand where you are coming from- none of the women in my life had careers either growing up, so this definitely wasn’t a clear path. But, I honestly didn’t get much judgment for taking this path after college. I mean don’t get me wrong, Grandpa definitely asks me where the kids are and I do get some comments. 🤣I think sometimes people care about others decisions way less than we care about how others feel about our decisions. At the end of the day, you need to do what makes you happy! also, $200K net worth is killing it (you are in the 1%!) and two kids under 26 is killing it! Don’t use our path as a comparison point, because you are doing wonderful!
Living in The Bay and working in SF with y'all. I love that you all are making videos again! You two have great attitudes and definitely inspire me to hit that millionaire status soon as I graduated UC Berkeley in 2019. @@JoshandKatie Ya if you reach your financial goals I see what you mean and you got better ways to spend the time. I personally like the safety net of something you know thats consistent. I don’t think work life balance was the biggest factor. I just think we both had bigger aspirations and a safety net to work towards those aspirations for 10-15 years without having to worry about money.
Your financial situation is a right place, right time thing. Most people will never go into jobs that pay anything like this and they certainly won’t ever be given hundreds of thousands in shares…I’m torn between being happy for you (as you both seem so nice) and angry for all the people who work difficult jobs for 20k a year or less…
