This should be called "How a few guys became tech billionaires". There are many that follow the same strategies letter for letter and don't have the same success. When asked what it took to get where they are the majority of billionaires have implied in one way or another that their success is due to a combination of clever strategy, work ethic and capitalizing on luck.
Someone following the same steps would not get the same outcome. Timing is one of the biggest factors for how these people became as rich as they are and someone doing the exact same thing a couple of years later will probably fail.
It's random. People don't give randomness its due credit. We see the result and somehow think the steps were purposed or destined. Mm. No. Not exactly. The greatest successes comes out of nowhere for no apparent reason.
