    There were also some instances in war.
    In ww1, 1918 the usa decided to upgrade their helmets. That "backfired" because many people had head injuries. Then they realized that the helmet is good because it gives people a head injure instead of a quick death.

    Love the story about old military planes, in which they were reinforcing damaged areas on planes that returned, when they should have been reinforcing areas that werent, as the planes that didnt return were likely hit there instead

      @@flextape467 Okay, fair. But in multiple video games, being shot on any part gets you the same amount of damage, therefore armouring the parts shot most will be a good strategy. This doesn't apply to games where being shot on different areas gets you different amounts of damage.

      Many plagues left on their own.
      But plagues before modern medicines took some chunks of population before it is over.
      Those who actively oppose covid-19 measures thinks they will survive the plague, not one of the many victims. After all, their ancestors survived. So they must be too.
      Conclusion = survivorship bias still applicable.
