    Fun fact for those who didnt know. ATL says "Dixie" instead of "Delta" to avoid confusing the over 100 Delta flights at the airport at a given time.

    Was really excited to watch this video when I saw the thumbnail show up in my feed. However, as I was watching you taxi I thought, "Gee, that looks really familiar." Then, as you were taking off, I thought, "there's no way that could be where I think it is..." and then Boom! Beacon Cafe! Just had brunch there the other day. What a long flight that must've been! New happy subscriber and hopefully soon student pilot in Roanoke, here.

    I'm working on my CFI/CFII too -- and enjoy your videos. One thing I find especially useful when flying a visual approach which makes life easier and reduces risk - I always load an RNAV or ILS approach for the assigned runway as soon as I know what runway to expect. As soon as I'm flying vectors, I will activate the approach (or switch the CDI to the localizer), and get guidance/confirmation that I'm lined up with the correct runway long before I can see the numbers.

    If you land and takeoff from a big commercial airport with lots of scheduled flight, does TSA regulations require that you be escorted to and from your personal aircraft by personal, or that you have to get a security check of some kind?

    • @TakingOff
      @TakingOff  9 місяців тому

      It's a little different. There's no TSA to inspect you etc... but the FBO and really all companies working at the airport have to abide by strict regulations about access. Their doors to the airport side are usually locked and opened only because you're the pilot or passengers, or someone from the company escorts you.

      Yeah I chuckled when you went screaming in there at 170 KIAS and got told to slow down. Usually it's the opposite problem as you mention above. They must have had you sequenced in pretty close to that RJ. Also, as someone mentioned above, I'd suggest always backing a visual approach with a loaded and active ILS or RNAV approach if available.
