your aquarium looks great
Thanks so much and thanks for your input! Appreciate your comments and for watching!
Hey! How are you doing? What kind of fish and setups do you have right now? Hope you are well!
great video! I just got my first fish (a blood parrot) yesterday! I have him in a 40 gallon and so far he seems to be adjusting well, it’s crazy how smart they are
How is he doing? I wonder how much bigger he is now.
Awesome!
How is the tank going lately? How big is the parrot now?
Beautiful tank!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!! What kind of fish and tanks do you keep? Thanks for watching!
Great info thank you so much!!
Glad it could be helpful for you!
I'd imagine your parrot is 8 inches now instead of 6 if he's still around?
8 inches is an easily achievable goal if the water, food and space is right for them, yours looks in good shape
Hey, I actually rehomed that Blood Parrot. Do you have one?
I have 4, just got them 2 weeks ago...they crack me up. I will look at them fast, n they will back behind the Driftwood slowly lol like "u cant see me, n i dont want no problems if u can " lol
Yah totally! They are some of the smartest fish I've kept! Lots of personality!! I have considered a big tank with a big school of them like 12 or so. Sure would be entertaining!! :-)
I've 2 blood parrots one is really sweet and shy the other well it's called randle the vandal because not even 5 mins in his new tank he fought with the filter and the plant throwing the plant around the tank now every time I clean the tank it attacks the scrubber
Hey yah each fish will have its own persoanlity. Even fish that are generally aggressive or peaceful may act differently. You never know what you got until you see them in your tank,. I suggest following these tips to reduce aggression: ua-cam.com/video/kbv49qAPPpM/v-deo.html
@@kylelovesfish awesome thanks for the video
@@lunashadow898 Of course!!
How is your tank and fish doing currently?
@@kylelovesfish there doing fine still attack me when I clean it out lol
Great video! I'm new to fish keeping and want to get one of those fish. What would be a good size tank to start with? Thank you and have a great one.
Hey! Great question! A 29 gal would be absolute minimum for one Parrot but a 55 gal would be best. In a 55 gal you could have three comfortably.
@@kylelovesfish Thank you very much for your advice. New subscriber to your channel. Blessings from Tx.
Thanks!! Anytime!!
@@leeh9520 Hey, thanks for your feedback. I do feel a 29 gal is workable for an adult regular parrot that max out at 6". The King Kong variety would need at least a 55-75. As I mentioned above, I do feel a 55 is the best size for an adult parrot, with a bigger tank always better.
Hey! How are you doing? What kind of fish and setups do you have right now? Hope you are well!
I am new to fish keeping aside from goldfish. I am starting a South American cichlid tank blood parrots convicts and a pleco. My larger blood parrot is fine but the pushes the smaller one and chases it all day. The smaller one is not on the bottom of the tank breathing rapidly. And I found a white worm in my tank. Any tips you have are appreciated
Thanks for watching and your question. So sorry for the delay. How are your fish doing now? I would reference this video to answer your question: ua-cam.com/video/kbv49qAPPpM/v-deo.html
Also you should get a bigger tank if you add more cichlid fish in that tank just put them all in different tank because that tank looks small get atleast 100 gallons
This is a 120 gal...
How are you doing? What kind of fish and setups do you have?
Hi there cool video love your blood parrot I'm new to the fish keeping hobby i just purchased 2 juvenile blood parrots I have a 29G TANK Planted Tank I would appreciate a few pointers like how many hours a day do you leave your lights on ? How many hours do you have your air pump & sponge or hang on the back filter on for as well ? And water temp ? Ph level ? And how how many times a day do you feed your cichlid ?
Hey there! Great questions!!
Lights: only leave them on when in the room or watching the fish (unless you have live plants that need light to grow). Fish in the wild don’t have the sun beaming directly on them all day long. We shouldn’t do that either.
I keep filters and air pump going 24/7. I only turn them off during a water change and then turn them back on when I am done. The filter is basically just growing beneficial bacteria that turns fish poop (ammonia) into nitrates (which get removed during water changes, which I do 50% weekly).
Water temp: anything between 78-82 is good
Ph level: anything between 7.6-8.2 is good, it’s more important to keep it stable by no t messing with your water.’if you try to change it a bunch that change is more stressful to the fish.
I feed twice a day and with a tank like mine I feed pretty heavy so everyone is full which helps reduce some aggression issues :-)
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hey Diego, how is your tank and fish doing?
Hi there Kyle nice of you to ask fish tank is currently doing good I added a juvenile firemouth cichlid and 2 Cory albino catfish they all get along good I plan on upgrading to a 50-55G tank once they get bigger.I did run into a lil issue 2 days ago I have floating water lettuce and I seen tiny black specks on them got a closer look and there tiny black bugs ! Any tips on getting rid of these guys I have a 29G planted Tank ...
Your fishes look great! Especially your blood parrot. I just noticed that your parrot is barely moving its gills compared to mines. Are you using any wavemakers? Is there plenty of surface agitation in your tank?
Hey! Thanks for watching!! I have (4) small SunSun power-heads from Amazon so yes I have a strong focus on surface agitation :-)
Hey! How are you doing? What kind of fish and setups do you have right now? Hope you are well!
@@kylelovesfish Hey Kyle! I really appreciate you checking up again, time really flys so fast. The tank I have is a 125 gallon tank and I have 9 blood parrots inside as well with some other fish! Filtered with an FX4 along with a wavemaker. It's going really well and all fish are happy and healthy! I hope you're doing well too!
@@jomarsarmiento15 Amazing!! I love that you have a big group of parrots. I bet there is a ton of activity and personality in that tank!! Any other tankmates? Any live plants?
@@kylelovesfish There are 3 tiger barbs, 2 SAE's, 1 yellow lab cichlid, 2 small green terrors (very peaceful for now, hopefully stays that way when they reach full size), 9 clown loaches (about 2 inches), 1 bristlenose pleco, 4 small convict cichlids and 1 geophagus. I know it seems a lot inside, but there's still plenty of room for them to swim surprisingly!
I do have a bundle of java plants inside, but the parrots and other cichlids keep eating them 😆
Can a baby blood parrot go in a angel fish tank??
Hey yes def! Parrots and angels are similar in aggression levels as cichlids. Parrots maybe a tad bit more aggressive still quite mild typically. Each fish is an individual so it’s all speculation until you try it. I would do it without thinking twice given you have the adequate tank size and filtration in place.
Hey! How are you doing? What kind of fish and setups do you have right now? Hope you are well!
That one I think your parrot fish is a boy if you don’t know ya it’s a boy
Thanks!
How can you tell with Parrots?
Let these unnatural monstrosities die. All other unnatural monstrosities, too. Flowerhorns, etc.
