    Tip: Start with your pinky on each hand and do the identical nail on each hand as you go along, leaving thumbs for last.

      Why?

    • @MydNyteRayne
      @MydNyteRayne 3 роки тому +6

      @@nuclearviolet It's easier to do it in that order. Thumbs best saved for last as they are used as "tools" and you don't want to mess up the wrap applying others. Also if you are using both ends of a strip for same coordinating nail it makes it easier. Try it... you'll see why.

    • @WinterRose84
      @WinterRose84  2 роки тому +1

      @@Beloved367 I hope it helps. Sometimes bubbles will happen if the wrap hasn't stuck to the nail completely, so using a cuticle pusher to smooth it out helps. Sometimes it's caused by oil on the nails too, so a quick wipe with remover or base coat can help before applying the wrap. If it's after applying them, it can be the top coat reacting to it, or another product like sunscreen or moisturisers reacting. Once you've been able to identify which of them is the cause it should be easier for you to fix :)

    • @WinterRose84
      @WinterRose84  3 роки тому +1

      @@kristiehoward5296 my nails are fine, as long as water doesn't get stuck under them and you take them off properly, and not peel them off, your nails should be okay. I use nail polish remover to take them off. They can dissolve sometimes, but others I just apply the remover on a brush and as the nail wrap lifts up I apply more remover under it using the brush. This essentially breaks the glue like bond.

    Such pretty hands you have~ wow🌼 I've made a commitment this year to be kinder to my hands & nails, now that I'm retired & actually have some free time! I always worked in non-profit social services, which meant I also needed 1-2 "side jobs" to make ends meet. I'm thrilled to learn about these wraps, as I had no idea they even existed. I'm not real smooth w/polish & such~ though I've been practicing for almost a year =) I am hoping that maybe the wraps w/a top coat will be the answer for me, so I will be using your link to try out a few~ Thanks so much for your time & effort in these posts, I truly appreciate it~

      Now that's an interesting bit ~ you're the first I've heard suggest using a base coat. Granted, I've only watched a handful of tutorials, but they all say to apply wraps to clean, dry nail beds. My question for you is if have tried them without the base coat, & what the differences are, in your experience? Thanks, in advance~ Sammy

      I have used no base coat and it does work. I've got really oily nails though so a base coat actually helps regulate that somewhat. I also find that it kelps protect my nails when I'm removing them, I've got very brittle peely type nails already so I like to use treatment base coats like OPI nail envy.

      Absolutely yes. The thin clear plastic cover should be removed. Most will have this, sometimes it doesn't, or one section might have missed it or have it fall off though. However if it's there remove this on the wraps you intend to use before doing anything else.

      Thank you :) sometimes I find it a little tricky to remove on the glitter wraps. I find if you are struggling to take off the plastic cover, try to remove it from the silver section where the wrap connects to the main border that's hold all of them together. You can gently bend the edge there and it can come loose enough to grab and pull off. Sometimes you may find the plastic cover has fallen off or stuck on the foil packaging, so it might be off already, check for that to. I've spent far too long a few times trying to remove a cover that wasn't there, lol.

    Really helpful tutorial- thank you. I clearly have ultra large hands because even the biggest wrap is too narrow to cover the whole of my thumb nail! Can the wraps be overlapped to fill the gaps ?

    • @WinterRose84
      @WinterRose84  7 місяців тому

      I've had that happen before too, on my thumb and when I use the nail wraps on my toes. If it's just a little gap, you can sometimes gently stretch the wraps to fit. If the gap is bigger though you can try to turn the wrap on its side (but this will only work on short nails). Another option is layering. I've cut two wraps and lined them up on my nail to fit. You will use more wraps this way but you use the wraps and trim them to make one larger wrap. They can overlap each other but you can see the seam. If you want to get crafty you can add a line of striping tape or cut out a contrasting wrap in a stripe and place it over the seam like its meant to be there. I've used that technique to blend two different leftovers wrap patterns in a manicure before.

      @WinterRose84  19 днів тому +1

      @hope00012 thank you!. Sometimes I get that too. I find if I use a glass file or really fine nail file it helps, the rougher nail files can cause the wrap to break back a little. It can also be worth trying a different angle when you file them off. I have really thin nails so I angle my file this way, but if you have thicker nails angling the tile more towards the finger tip might help, that way the wrap gets torn/filed at the edge of your nail.

      Make sure your topcoat wraps over the nail tip/edge. You can also reapply a top coat after a few days. It might also be that the top coat you've used has caused the wraps to shrink or become brittle. You could try a different top coat if you have one.

      Sometimes I've noticed on some of my wraps, not many though, the plastic had already come off. I'd tried to peel it off but couldn't. I then realised it didn't have any plastic on it. Luckily the wraps hadn't dried out, so I could still use them.
      That can happen sometimes though either because of a manufacturing or packaging error, or they get stuck to the foil package when pulling the strip out, or just fall off without noticing.

    This video was so helpful to me when I applied my first Lily and Fox nail wraps. So far they have lasted 10 days! I have a question as I am getting ready to try my next set, if you want to apply the wraps on a nail polish colour will they stick or do you need to apply a base coat on top of the colour? I am thinking of the transparent wraps and wanting a colour underneath. Do you happen to know if Nail Envy or Sally's Hard as nails would be okay underneath or would they not likely stick well to it? Thanks!

    • @WinterRose84
      @WinterRose84  6 місяців тому

      I've tried the original Nail Envy under wraps and it works okay, but there is another one with an orange text that was too shiny and wasn't ideal.
      You can apply them over a nail polish, just make sure the polish is completely dry first though. In some cases it might make the wrap not last quite as long, but you should be fine. You can also double wrap, so you use a block colour or single colour wrap under the transparent wrap. It can get a little thick though, but it does work.

    • @WinterRose84
      @WinterRose84  Рік тому

      I've not had that happen so quickly before. Some are thicker than others so you might find a glass file works better, or a really gritty nail file. Try to file in one direction from the top of the nail down towards under the nail so it doesn't lift the wrap when you file it. You might have oily nails like me too, so try some nail polish remover to clean the oils before using the wrap. Also check the top coat, some will shrink the wrap and that can cause it to lift up.

    I love Lily&Fox. Just wish they would have a larger option or reconsider the sizes. I have thin hands but apparently weirdly shaped nails. The largest strip is too small for my thumb and the smallest strip is too small for my 9yr old child's pinky! I paint my thumb nail with a matching shade polish to make it less obvious. It doesn't look so great though. The strips can be cut if someone has petite nails, but what to do if the largest strip is too small (stretching it is not enough).

    • @WinterRose84
      @WinterRose84  2 роки тому +3

      I sometimes get this on my thumb. I also used to paint a matching colour, however if I have time I trim the edge of another wrap and place it in the gap. There is a line where they join, but I apply two top coats to make it thicker and that helps cover it up.
      I did hear they've recently released toe sets! They might help too, they should be wider and able to be cut down for wider nails.

      For the base coat, it depends on what type you use. Just lightly touch it and check it's dry. Similarly for the top coat too. The base coats normally dry a lot faster than a top coat. A top coat (not a quick dry one) will be touch dry in 10min but may take 20min or more to completely dry.

      Thank you for watching! Some people find wraps actually help their nails stay protected. I fund them the same as polish, however as they last about a week or two (wraps that is), I'm not using nail polish remover as much and it's less drying. I get a good week from my wraps, but I have really oily nails so polish only lasts one to three days on me. Some people get over 2 weeks from wraps. As long as they stay sealed to the nails and no moisture gets under them they can last longer. They will last much longer with a top coat. Some top coats can cause the wrap to shrink or bubble a little so just test them. I find Sally Hanson no UV gel top coat works well though.

      I sometimes get small ridges up my nail, but I've not got much experience with larger ridges. I normally will use a filling base coat. They can be called ridge fillers. Then, apply the wraps as normal. It's not perfect, but it can help.
      You mainly want to make sure you seal the wrap so nothing gets under it. So when you apply the top coat make sure to cap the top of the nail and seal the wrap near the cuticle.

      I've never had any with a silver backing from this brand (I've received over 100). Thet normally have the white paper backing and a clear plastic sheet over each of them. If you didn't remove the clear plastic (which can be hard to remove in some cases) it makes the wraps feel thick and not very flexible. The thickest wraps I've had were glitter wraps with a clear look to them, however they were still pretty flexible.
