    This brings back the excitement from before anyone knew what jujitsu or "catch wrestling" or "submission fighting" was. Back when this was the real life "best of the best" and nobody realized that a 110 lb guy could strangle a road raging monster in less than a minute. I remember my 9 year old self sometimes wishing the Gracies missed a tournament or 2 just so i could watch all the strikers go at it. I think he sat out ufc 2 or 3 and then it was shamrock and Severn laying on everyone lol totally took the world by surprise though that weight classes could be ignored over technique

      Yeah I remember seeing these fights it was promoted as fighting without rules pretty much the records that they had was in a particular style what a fighter was for they step in the cage it's a whole different world than what they knew Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was a combination of a couple styles so they were more successful than somebody that came in with a particular style that they knew but was not as polished as somebody that knew a couple of styles so that's why I today really you got to be more polished I remember seeing somebody get in there that was just a boxer and he started getting kicked and didn't know what was happening you know what he was in for a didn't know what is a phone it did I guess no rules badass Fighters some of them were big dudes that's weird matchups in those days some of them are the very early matchups were and they weight limits some big guy and somebody that wasn't close to his weight that was odd I didn't like that mismatched looking match

    Awe.... Thats soo cute, instead of ralphie actually putting in any sort of effort to put his opponent to sleep... He just gently rocks him back and forth & waits for the ref to read him a fairytale... Coicidentally the same gracy family fairytale this entire series of fights are set up go down as. A true masterpiece in theatrics,marketing & exposure.... The overall & extenuating circumstances,in addion to the manipulative tactics presented throughout gracie JJsu's rampant rise to fame... Should be taught in universities as an example of a masterclass in the application of psychology,to a real world situation. Yeah, I mean those records were not claimed to be their MMA records, for example that Mario Sperry 272-0 record is supposedly his BJJ record. This to is also undocumented online (though I want to stress that this was in 1995, while I'm still skeptical as sh-t of the claimed record I would just point out that in 1995 (the year of this event,) 0.28% of the global population had access to the internet & only 13.02% of Americans had internet access & in Brazil only 0.11% of people had internet access (Internet access in Brazil doesn't even show up as recognized at all until 1992 when 0.01% of Brazilians get access.) So regardless of whether or not it was a real record the odds of finding that sort of thing online are fairly slim to the say the least.

    Glanville vs Meyers fight, Meyers was holding the fence the entire time he had his arm across the neck of Glanville. What was the ref looking at that he did not see that and stop Meyers with near the end eight of his ten fingers locked into the fence? In any of these cage fights with any kind of fence, holding the fence is against the rules. WTF?

    • @garymyers7940
      @garymyers7940 6 років тому

      James there were no rules except for no eye gouging and no fish hooking. They deemed the cage as part of the structure you could use. I was only using all of my tools. Hey I didn't make the rules.
