LDS here. I appreicate learning more about my brothers and sisters of the restoration, and am eternally greatful for the care and custody of so many artifacts the CoC has kept well!
this is really great. As a latter-day seeker, I'm always interested in learning new perspectives on our shared restoration history and how Community of Christ has come to be what it is now.
Speaking in tongues??? I am a fourth gen C of C- to my understanding speaking in tongues without one person understanding the language is inappropriate. I have heard of this dynamic creating a difference of opinion.

Addison Pratt and the other early LDS missionaries, where never part of the Community of Christ church, they were Latter-day Saints, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which apostles received every priesthood power and keys, from the prophet Joseph Smith and moved on to Utah. CofC was started in the 1860's, with the primary doctrine that the prophets descendants, carried on the presidency of the church, however, that ended quickly now CofC is simply another protestant evangelical church and should really remove the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith and the restoration, from their teachings as they have no part in them.
Among Community of Christ's early members were the wife, Emma, and the children of Joseph Smith Jr. and those of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who rejected the leadership of Brigham Young. After the trek of many to Utah those not accepting Brigham Young still used the same denominational name. Decades later the "plains LDS" added Reorganization to avoid confusion with the "mountain LDS." 1860 is when most of the "not mountain LDS" merged under the leadership of Joseph Smith III which later became known as RLDS and on the 21st century as Community of Christ. If Community of Christ left out our origin stories, then people would feel blindsided by such seeming secrecy. Community of Christ church and its members strive for honesty, transparency, and authenticity. We are not a people of secrecy.

Interesting. I'm a Mormon of the LDS Church, so it's cool to hear from the second largest sect in the LDS movement. Blessings

But acts isn't historical at all its mostly allegory.. not to mention there's no telling who wrote it
Is your church part of the church of Jesus Christ of Laterday Saints? What’s the history there?
