So glad your husband got diagnosed! Ticks are just scary. They create so many illnesses. Heck, you don’t need to go in the woods. You can pick those little buggers up just by weeding your flower garden. I’m glad your husband is getting better.

Been waiting for SatChat to cheer myself up. I’ve got both parents in hospital, both taken in in an ambulance on different days! Tolerance for ick! You are truly inspirational and so funny! My Mom was constantly on us kids, there were 6 of us during the summer and 4 during school. We were a messy bunch for sure! I recall the first time my Dad said that we had better clean our rooms. We were split up with boys in one girls in another. We ignored him, he cleaned the rooms the next day and he threw away anything we could not easily explain and burned it that day! He said we had better not make him clean again and listen to our Mom! Our tolerance for ick was much less after that lesson! Great SatChat Lindsay! Thank you.

Hullo, "Other Lindsay"! LOL That keepsake box is bloody amazing!! It's just gorgeous! How clever and inventive you are! As a transplanted Scot living in the U.S., I have to say I adore the Nessie legend. I was born & raised in Inverness so you can imagine I heard a ton of bedtime stories about Nessie. I have always loved local history (and I am a very proud Scot, LOL). I miss home enormously and I am hoping (praying) to get back for a visit in the Spring. I've a wee house there where I hope to retire in a few years (more prayers, LOL). BTW? The National animal of Scotland is a Unicorn! 😊Isn't that fun?? I love it. Scotland is a such wonderful mystical land of legends, history and beauty. Happy to hear hubby is on the mend! I know you must be so relieved. Take care, Beauty! Love and Bless xo

Scot here. Loch need is the most famous monster here but not the only one. Nearby Loch morar has one called morag. There is actually a legend says that there is a tunnel connecting the two lochs. Also Loch ness has rivers and a canal connecting it beyond... so in theory it could be moving as far as the sea. There are many exhibitions set up at Loch ness exploring the legends, and one guy who has been on the beach for many decades looking. Not so sure I believe but must admit I do look everytime I am on the banks of the Loch or passing by. Btw get hubby to explore some of the things they have pulled out the Loch in the past as some were regarded as extinct until they found them there. Xx

A hat is a good idea when your husband mows the lawn. I was walking on the road under some trees in a swampy area, and after I got back indoors I found a tick on the side of my NECK, of all places! Then I read that many ticks actually drop down on you from trees. So yeah, wide-brimmed hats, like Indiana Jones-type hats, do more than just shade you from the sun!

I received my Roman Szmal watercolor set and with it was included a HAND-SWATCHED sheet of the set done on beautiful, thick watercolor paper (!) I was thrilled because it gave a real, true representation of everything without me having to do it. LOL I laminated it and it fits right in the lid of the wood box. It is a beautiful little perk and the paint is my new favorite. The colors are clear and rich and most are single-pigment. I have painted a couple things already with them and they are awesome. Catching up with you! Stumbled into the Satchat before this one, then had to find out if everyone was ok, so here I am, and I am delighted things are better!
Last night, my binging convinced me to order Pretty Excellent, despite absolutely NOT needing anymore palettes. I would have resisted (I have 7 palettes but I fling a lot of paint in my evolution from retired filmmaker to watercolour enthusiast) and PE are in pans now, so I felt I could use them individually if I loved the colour, or if I ran out of something similar in my small curated palettes. My intention is to learn and develop with what I have now, then move to single pans of artist grade as I improve. I must find your open stock videos!
Further: tea tree oil is good for everything; pretty things grow in my fridge too - lol, but since I live alone, slimy things can also sometimes be found; pretend animal arguments :0); “the sink and toilet stay so clean” lol; estimating chores vs creative projects - I am forever astonished at how little time it actually takes to get the dreaded chore done…. Sistah!
Finally, re: your views, I’ve known of your channel for a long time but had no idea, from the name “Frugal Crafter”, that you were a watercolour painter. So, despite also turning my hand to crafts (I’m decoupaging 24 tiny boxes with prints of my meh watercolour paintings) I bypassed you as I was really looking for painting inspiration. Also, despite being relatively poor, I’m not nearly frugal enough when it comes to art supplies, and thought you might be more Bible journal than Roller Derby ;0). Imagine my surprise to find a fine painter and a hilarious and irreverent babe! I’m not sure your channel name represents you. I would have been here a lot sooner had I known how talented, entertaining, and plain old delightful you are.

Glad Jason is feeling better and is getting proper treatment. I suspect his illness and not knowing what it was was contributing to your feeling down too! Spooky fair sounds like fun. - hope you enjoyed it! I love fantasy animals and beings. Would love to meet a dragon like Oolong in R A MacAvoy’s Tea with the Black Dragon. 🐉😊

Good Morning Lindsay, so glad you got your beat back! I was in Scotland a few years ago and my one wish was to see the Loch Ness Monster. I had a feeling he would make himself visible, just for me 🤣. My daughter and I boarded a bus tour that would culminate in a stop at the lake for a chance spotting. We meandered for hours along back roads and saw great ruins and fields and lots of cows. Just when we left our lunch location for the final leg of the journey, our tour director got a call. A tree was down blocking the bus access to the Loch. We must turn back. We didn't have time to wait for it to be cleared.
Now you can imagine how depressing that was. They refunded our day tour which was kind, but I was SURE that was the day he would be seen. Now I may never get my chance again, as I am from the states☹😆😆😆
Glad Mr Frugal is mending, that must have been a bit scary. Have a great weekend with you ghosts, etc!

Love your hair - it grows so fast! Glad hubby is on the mend. There is no cure for the idea bathrooms are self cleaning or toilets seats lower themself when toilet is flushed 😢 strangely, it only afflicts husbands 🤔

Northern Minnesota has lots of ticks, unfortunately. Same for Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula Michigan. Another tip from doctors around here is if you’re bitten, save the tick and wrap it in Scotch tape; then bring the tick to the doctor’s office. Helps the Dr diagnose what tick diseases you could have. Tiny deer ticks are more dangerous than wood ticks. Sure would be nice to have a vaccine!

They have one for dogs. They stopped developing the human one back in the 90s because people were worried vaccines caused autism.

Really enjoyed your chat, I’ve not listened for a while but will do more now. If you like podcasts I can really recommend the BBC radio 4 podcast Yeti, if you haven’t listened to it. No matter how you feel about undiscovered animals it is really interesting. It focuses on Yetis rather then Big Foot but is definitely worth a listen. All the Radio 4 podcasts are good, of course it’s nothing to do with me being from U.K. 😄 The Battersea Poltergeist and The Witch Farm are also a great listen too.

love your sketchbook idea, blank paper can be so intimidating, separating into small areas has got to get us past that. Years ago my painting group used to paint outside all summer, i found i have trouble focusing on a composition. My solution is to do small sketches and color swatches, with the idea of making a 'real' painting in the studio. (ha ha! i have a whole page of swatches where i tried to match the sand color at Quoddy Point)

Now you have me feeling guilty, first Sat Chat for a few weeks🤣 I'm not a painter either I come for the cards, crafts, pen reviews and Sat Chat, I picked the right one though. First tea tree oil👍 geranium for gnats so much nicer than citronella. Second cleaning urrh! Been at it all day (well feels like it) Estate Agent taking photos tomorrow, so much to do so little time🤣 Aren't men stupid!! It must be the cleaning fairy that keeps the house clean, my fairy has obviously gone on holiday. Third Nessie, had a holiday in Scotland as a teenager, we went round the Loch Ness Museum, fasinating, wouldn't it be great if she did exist. I believe there is going to be another survey done on the Loch. Have a great day out, I will be on to the bedrooms and kitchen cleaning by then, double urrhhh. Eleanor xx

I saw your smiling face (finally, been looking) in Hobby Lobby today on the art sets! Woo hoo! On another subject, my problem with the MeiLaing watercolors was the tray they came with. It is very flimsy and the pans don't fit very well so the whole thing was rocking around in the case. I had to first glue the pans in, then glue the whole tray to a piece of cardboard to make it lay flat. So I've been waiting to see if that was the case with you on your new set.

    • @thefrugalcrafter

Yes, they are half pans in a flimsy tray. I think I will put magnets on the bottom of the pans and get rid of the flimsy tray.

Had to laugh about the bathroom conversation. O mg , that must be a worlwide conversation I think 😂. Have a great week lovely 😊 xxx
