Yo my dudes and dudettes what's good? welcome back to the live stream of my struggles, it's time again for the "IN THE ATTIC WITH ANNE HOUR" Today we'll take a look at this funky bookcase that's hides the entrance to my secret attic door. If you haven't already, smash that fucking like button and ring the bell to stay up to date on all things Franktastic.

My wife and I inherited her fathers home, after a couple years I decided to remodel the basement and when I did all the measurements something was not adding up. The basement was smaller than the house itself. I took 6 more months to find that he had created a secret room and a tunnel to the detached garage. My father in-law was one of North Carolina's most notorious bootleggers in the history of the state. A very large elaborate still was in there as well as enough money in a metal box to pay off our vehicles and take a cruise . Today the room is in use as a storm shelter and (man cave) the still? Its in use too, you can't have a man cave without one!!
That's what I was thinking... Not the best way to hide a secret room. Kind of like the one with a random door handle on the wall... "Gee, I wonder what that's for?"
When i lived in germany in the 70's i was hanging out with a friend at his house. He told me there was a tunnel under his house that went for about 2 blocks. I didnt believe it. But he took me to a closet in one of the room. And sure enough. Their was a door and stairs leading down to a long hall under the house. It went on at least an 8th of a mile. And their was rooms. Later i found out it was built back in the 50's for US Military familys to go to in the nighborhood incase of an attack by russians. It was forgotten over time. I guess. It has access to i think 2 other homes along its route. We could see inside every house on his street. Nobody even knew it was their except his family i guess.
Honestly that first bookcase one was my favourite. Dont want electrics and slow moving parts that can go wrong or have someone catch you going in or out. Simple and stylish works best.
The best were the ones that hid the seams. Showing a out of nowhere handle, tiling that has a random additional cut or hinges randomly on the floor is something that sparks curiosity making that "hidden" spot not much of a secret.
Maybe ones that are afraid of other people leaving behind their germs. I'm sure there would be a 'public' bathroom for others. Rich people can be...odd.
These are pretty cool. Major drawbacks are that some of them would be very slow to get into if you were using them as a panic room, AND, for most of the fancy ones, you'd need to have electricity to get in/out ... which might be a problem. I'd also like to see how easy those bookcases are to manipulate once they're full of books ;)

Josh no you can see 4 magnets holding the tile in place. If they were just putting the tile in they would have used grout (I’m pretty sure but that might be for in between each tile don’t quote me) and not magnets.

Those tile ones on the frame for those jacuzzi tub aren't secret. You have to have an access door for the plumbing on a jacuzzi tub. Every single tub like that has one, it's part of the plumbing code in most places.
So many of these "Hidden "rooms are fancy in their construction and features, Yet many can still be detected because the builder was either too lazy or inexperienced to properly conceal the hinges!

due to the attached mechanism the doors open far too slowly.... it should rather be a quick succession of 'push, open, enter and close that damn door!'
Some of these are not hidden at all if you can see the hinges, why even bother? One of these had a handle outside the false door, what was the point in that ??
Carpe diem Ha! I was thinking the same thing but the panic room wasn't hidden, was it? Just very secure. It would be cool to have a secret, safe place to hide your valuables. And yourself, if necessary. As a little, mischievous kid, I loved hiding, much to my mom's dismay, especially in department store clothing racks. (Sorry, mom!) I still like hiding occasionally, for whatever reason, so this appeals to me. I'm aware of some bars/clubs that have camouflaged entrances. I can think of one in Chicago called Violet Hour.

Maybe the actual title should be, "We Only Had About 2min of Actual Decent Footage, So We Show a Lot of Plumbing Access Panels, and a After the Six Minute Mark We Just Started Reshowing Earlier Clips All Over Again."
"Collection of mostly obvious and impractical hidden doors, some of which are actually meant to be secret" Many of these are just blending in for aesthetics, being a bit difficult to see but not actually hidden.
Secret rooms and passages are common in English country houses built in Elizabethan times. Elizabeth I was so Protestant that she sentenced Catholic Priests to death for performing Mass. Many old families were Catholic and wanted Mass, so they built rooms and passages for a Priest to escape to if the Queen's soldiers showed up. Soldiers soon learned to measure and compare inside and outside dimensions.
the ones on the walls are fine...the ones on the floor detectable-but they are way too slow to open and close-funny tho' you spend a lot of money for one and then when it opens-its a tiny closet-yeah right...the mirror one was cool

+ brisanbri which is why im telling myself they're not that obvious. But when you see very distinct black lines (1:26)forming a rectangle on the floor, it's still extremely obvious. I watch where I walk, I would definitely see this. Another obvious one on the floor is the one at 4:25, you can see 3 hinges. What else are those for? Anyone still watch this video?
2024 here
Yes.
Yes
Hidden rooms, a great gift for your “bucket list”
Some of these are not hidden at all if you can see the hinges, why even bother? One of these had a handle outside the false door, what was the point in that ??
What's a false door? Something that looks like a door but isn't?
As seen in Architectural Digest, Serial Killers Edition.
Ryan Biscoglia 😂😂
Do you mean superhero or supervillain edition?
DoctorWeeTodd Yes! Lol
100th like on this comment.
Exactly what I was thinking. Serial killer rooms.
Stairs gets my vote.
Reminds me of the movie Panic Room with Jodie Foster.
Carpe diem
and by the time the bar got turned around the party was over and everyone went home
what if you wanted the bar and watch a game at the same time?
jaime
terryyouth keep spinning
terryyouth stop it halfway 😂😂
thatswhite1 🤔🤔🤔....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It would be fun to have a secret room. The only drawback I can see is you can't have a window.
A skylight. You could use the kind that’s a tube with a couple of mirrors in it.
I thought about the skylight, but naturally it would only work if the secret room was on the top floor. The mirrors idea is a good one.
still works if you don't have a second floor
Just install a "secret window"!
it would be a window you could see from the outside but you cant find it inside cause its in the secret room
Incroyable des super bonnes idées, si j'étais plus jeune je reconstruirais une maison pour réaliser une ou plusieurs Pièces secrètes, j'adore plus plus l'idée 👍👍👍👋👋👋👋👋😊😉
Secret rooms always seem a little creepy, but hiding the tv by hitting a book. That was pretty good 6:33.
Except that now you have to choose between the bar and TV, can't have both.
Maybe the actual title should be, "We Only Had About 2min of Actual Decent Footage, So We Show a Lot of Plumbing Access Panels, and a
After the Six Minute Mark We Just Started Reshowing Earlier Clips All Over Again."
👍😁
"Collection of mostly obvious and impractical hidden doors, some of which are actually meant to be secret"
Many of these are just blending in for aesthetics, being a bit difficult to see but not actually hidden.
The only thing I can say is these people were brave to show off their secret rooms!!
Most of them either dont live in the house (they are contractors that buit it) or they are planning on moving soon.
Courtney B yeh good point
JusticeAA good point
When I see stuff like this all I can think about is El Chapo
lol
3:09 I thought these are only in spy movies lol
Same
Secret rooms and passages are common in English country houses built in Elizabethan times.
*El Chapo's and Escobar's favourite UA-cam video.*
Splendid Londoner idiot
Splendid Londoner ha very funny!!😂😂

Splendid Londoner el
Splendid Londoner hahahah
The ones that require electricity to open & close seem like they could be a disadvantage in certain circumstances
VERY GOOD MUSIC. VERY VERY GOOD CHOICE. THE MUSIC IS THE BEST!!!
Welcome to Dexter's laboratory!! Deeeedeee don't touch tah...NooOooooooo!!!!!!!
xDDDDDDDDD
the ones on the walls are fine...the ones on the floor detectable-but they are way too slow to open and close-funny tho' you spend a lot of money for one and then when it opens-its a tiny closet-yeah right...the mirror one was cool
I now have so much confidence in trading because of the uniqueness of Mrs Katie Wilson' strategy,
she has never failed in 7 trades i have made through her.
I never thought i would get this far in a such a short while. I am very grateful...you can email her
(donaldlogic1@gmailcom)she will be willing to help out..?
pamela haley i feel like the ones on the wall would make it obvious that there is another room or basement
I wouldn't show my hidden rooms online..I may need to hide from the jakes one day
Good house
_¿The guy in the minute _*_3:07_*_ he thinks he's Batman or something like that? I remember the old comic of Batman Bruce Wayne he do the same thing when he tried to go to the batcave. but it's still a good idea having a statue of William Shakespeare like a secret button._
its not a good idea but classic
Ren de Estuardo Falcó e
how do u italisize
Ren de Estuardo Falcó you’re thinking of the Adam West Batman series with an identical Shakespeare bust with a hidden button led to the secret entrance to the Batcave.
Oof
most of them are so obvious even on a low resolution vid, imagine being there
;) aha
Mauri QHD - Try lol yeah okay mate we believe you
you wouldnt be looking for a secret door at someones house tho is its kind of different
+ brisanbri
which is why im telling myself they're not that obvious. But when you see very distinct black lines (1:26)forming a rectangle on the floor, it's still extremely obvious. I watch where I walk, I would definitely see this. Another obvious one on the floor is the one at 4:25, you can see 3 hinges. What else are those for? There're a few that are very obvious even if you're oblivious. The textured walls ones are very well camouflaged though
Bircklyn those can be covered with a rug smart one
Wow access to water lines
Ikr
Wow we all need this...TY for sharing!

Wireline my favourite part is when she goes "la la la la la la, la." What a track!
it's good to find a crazy guy like yourself. where were you fucker?
That horrible song! *Make it stop!*
"Hey man want a drink" "Sure" "Okay well you're gonna have to wait a full minute for it to slowly rotate and then another full minute to get the tv back"
Ever since I was a little kid I had a thing about hidden rooms. Curiosity combined with a desire to be left alone.
All these hidden doors, and none of them have a batcave....disappointed!
not that we saw anyway
Ruby Rose Maybe there is a secret room within the secret room where they keep all the good stuff ! 😂
Hugo- wooo I had not thought of that- good one.
Did you spot the bust with the hidden switch? "To the Batpoles, Robin!"
But there was an 'Alfred' switch ;)
Now I'm thinking what I can do in my home.....Great vid!
this makes me wonder if theres any secret room in my house
Thanks for showing us your secrets
