I guess this album is considered bad because songs in this album are away from standard metal songs. My opinion, this album is not bad, just new and free, free from basic metal. From Japan
St.Anger is weird, but in a good way. I really enjoy listening to the whole album all the time. Who cares that is does not have solos etc. I still love it
I agree, except for the last thing you said. The lack of solos is unforgivable, even the snare is ok with me, but if it's Metallica it needs to have a solo. I still like most of the songs off of the album though.
I'm gonna say it, probably at the risk of getting flamed for it: I don't give a fuck about the lack of guitar solos. Quite frankly, I don't get people who whine about that. There's more to good music than just guitar solos. And I think St. Anger is a solid album. Sorry that they didn't put out another Master of Puppets or anything like that, but some bands just evolve and grow and change. I know how much we hate change, but I don't mind. :3
THANKK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MEAN LISTEN TO THE KICK ASS RIFFS THE JAMES HETFILED DOES AND JUST ITS AMAZING THIS ALBUM (except invisible kid)
I agree, personally I liked the album for the amount of jamming sections in many of the songs (probably where they would've tried to throw a solo in on any other album judging by the single live performance of this song)
since the black album and Until Death Magnetic I thought Kirk had lost his creativity with solos anyway... apparently hes got a degree in Jazz, well for someone who only ever plays one scale he aint using that jazz, Then DM came out and he was awesome again! Cool!
This album is helping me get out of alcohol addiction. St anger might not have had grand reviews, but I know has helped many. That in itself means the world.
@@TheStyleCutter yeah, and let James and Kirk add some nice guitar solos. Like James would make a better opening solo for Some Kind of Monster, and the rest - will be Kirk's job.
wasn't much of a fan of St Anger when it first came out, but started listening to it again, and i gotta say its a great album. Love the songs; Sweet Amber, St. Anger, Unnamed Feeling & Some kind of Monster
Michelle Watt Sweet Amber was written about Metallica’s label forcing them to make commercials. It isn’t about alcoholism, or at least it isn’t supposed to be.
Most badass aspect of this album is that each and every one of those guys believed in it. In 2002/03 they had no worries or outside influences like today with instant social media or digital landscape to tread like today. They went in, grinded it out and honestly considering the circumstances delivered a grungy anger album that sits at the end of their catalog but is equally as defining as the one in the front.
Only sellouts I've ever seen associated with Metallica, is the fans who dropped them all because of a f*cking haircut. Man if ONLY that's all we had to worry, whine and snivle about NOW. 🤣 I stuck with them from master of puppets, learned to love ride the lightning and kill em all in the process, learned how to play guitar because of sanatarium, watched everyone flip out over them cutting their hair and MATURING at the same time. Because they wanted to get away from the same old formula and experiment a bit people stopped even LISTENING to them all together. It's was PATHETIC. Imagine calling someone a sell out metal band, when ALL they've DONE, is WHATEVER the hell THEY want to do and F*CK everybody else, even the fans who tried to HOLD their music HOSTAGE, by pretty much saying "you WILL make THIS kind of music or ELSE" instead of embracing the magic and theme songs to a lot of people's teens and very hard times also. They OWN their OWN music also. They work their *SSES OFF consistently, and they've sold 100 million albums, I mean, what's more METAL than not caring WHAT happens, what anyone THINKS, and doing whatever the f*CK you WANT? Nothing in my opinion. Those people missed out and I have NO REGRETS.
You know what, I adore all albums from Kill me all to Reload. After, it's simply not it... This part resembles what Metallica used to be and its fucking amazing.
It's good to see them play it at least in the studio.....who knows if they're ever gonna play this live once again... This year...maybe.... it's the fan's choice
***** Agreed. Bet that the most common things like master or creep or one will be played. I don't have any problem with this, 'cause it's their choice, but it'd be great to see something rare!
My fav song from kill em all to death magnetic: 1:Hit the lights 2:For whom the bell tolls 3:Master of puppets 4:One 5:The Unforgiven 6: Bleeding me 7:Devil's dance 8:Sweet Amber 9:All nightmare long
This song is honestly amazing, the lyrics are great, the guitars are great too, this album gets too much hate, I honestly love it. This song specifically reminds me of a girl I use to say and I feel like the lyrics just connect with me when it came to that relationship
Hammett: I don't really care what people think. These are our songs, and that's the reality of it. You can either take it or leave it, and if people don't like it, they have every right not to. We've never catered to anything ever in our lives, and why should we start now. Like all good bands, we definitely believe in moving forward and we believe in not trying to rekindle any former flames. You just end up going in circles when you do that. Thought Id share..
Love this song! Only bummer about this in-studio vid is that Lars didn't have it in him to actually play the double bass part at 3:45! that's my favorite part of the song on the record. Oh well. James' voice is so killer here in the chorus!
I really like this song and the whole album. It helped me a lot through depression back at my time in high school.
Same for me man, even if a lot of people considers it like their shittiest album, but honestly, it helped out a lot of people like you and me
people consider it the worst metallica album.i consider it as the album for the worst moments of ur life
I guess this album is considered bad because songs in this album are away from standard metal songs.

Good for you buddies.
Dude. I love you guys minus the haters. This album helped save me too
I have to say, whole album have amazing Riffs, and James voice is just epic
Finally someone realises that Hetfield sounds fuckin nuts on St Anger
I always say this album is the best I’ve ever heard James sound
im glad to see that im not the only one that likes the fuck out of the st.anger album
I love load and reload but love st anger close 3rd.
I fucking love it brother
This isn't the album, this is the dvd, dumbass. Which is far superior.

shame they didn't use the shot haha

St.Anger is weird, but in a good way. I really enjoy listening to the whole album all the time. Who cares that is does not have solos etc. I still love it
If it was the first album of any other band it would be praised as a masterpiece but since it's them everyone don't even bother to listen
i care
If you put.... If you don't put a guitar solo on a album that DATES IT to this time period! I think that is totally Trendy and bullshit!

Best Song of ST.Anger
AG-FUCKING-REED
What about The Unnamed Felling?
I also like Frantic, Some Kind of Monster and The Unnamed Feeling.
Frantic though
my world has the best riff
1:54 the way James sang that
ikr, it's MUCH MORE powerful than the studio version
Goosebumps
_"I love this song"_

Agreed, this is the best song on St. Anger.
Rory Kostman it’s close, but Unnamed Feeling is my favorite
No, my favorite is St. Anger and Frantic
St anger is such an underrated album, also such a gem!

Megadeth is about great solos. Metallica is incredible tight riffs and timing changes.
LET S GO LARS!!!!!!!
Lars: poom poom pom *trashcanlid*
That riff @3:39 man love it
Excelente riff, lastima que este en el intermedio de la canción, sería genial que le hubieran dado más protagonismo..
This song definitely can remind us of a fucking awesome time in our lives👊
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJHAJAJ (I born in 2004 :v)
3:04 someone really ought to point out what Kirk is playing over this slow part. Genius.
He's using a tremolo pedal I think
He is using the whammy 1 oct up I think
4:49 HOW SWEET DOES IT GETS-AAAAAAAA
This album is helping me get out of alcohol addiction. St anger might not have had grand reviews, but I know has helped many. That in itself means the world.
Even with the unforgivable snare sound, that album is still amazing.
They should release a remastered version after fixing the drums
Oliver Hood if they mastered it to sound like THIS I’d love it.
The snare is iconic.

The album came with a live DVD of this...performing the entire album. I wish they'd release that as a CD. It kicks ass!
This song amongst a few other things made me name my daughter Amber. Peace.
UFORIA Chronicles You named your child about alcoholism? Sweet amber is about alcohol addiction...
Well that was horrible. This song is about alcoholism. “Sweet amber” is booze.
Michelle Watt Sweet Amber was written about Metallica’s label forcing them to make commercials. It isn’t about alcoholism, or at least it isn’t supposed to be.

HELL YEAH!
I'm here to give this song the love and respect it deserves.
Повзрослел - полюбил. Аналогично с остальными песнями с альбома

This song gives me such a raw energy. Some blue collar rage, toughness. I enjoy it a lot.
Best song on the album
0:18 Love that Hetfield crunch at the start.
3:38-4:27 best part
This part is wunderbaar! :D

.....if Lars didnt fuck it up royally.
The best riff on St. Anger. Period.
Wish Lars would've pulled the double-bass like in the album. That riff deserves it.
This is by far the best song from this album. Should have been the single.
Metallica's toughest sounding riffs are on this album . Good slow grinding riffs .
probably my favourite song on the record.
this album was too underated
Will always be my favorite album from them.♥️
I always get chills whenever James says "Sweet AMBER!"
