I nearly died of nostalgia at the disk loading noises. It's been so long I had no idea what it was at first. Fellow Atari 800 player here! Happy to relive it with Ultimate Bruce Lee these days.
mate i cant believe this is on YT,back in the day i thought i was the only 1 who had this(i was the only 1 with an 800xl,every1 else had a fkin spectrum!!!!! lol)absolutley brilliant memories, thanks a whole bunch
@darealjansolo Im in tears right now. I loved this game its so evocative it was the first video game i ever saw and seemed like a huge world of fighting and being bruce. It was 1983 or 1984 i beleive. and i was at my cousins house 5-6 kids gathered around the c64. I wasnt bothered to play just timid and awe struck in the corner. Eveything about the game was great from the cover artwork to fighting the cool green yamo. I just stopped crying in joy
I played this game for years on my 800xl on a black and white T.V. and never knew he was green until the UA-cam vids came along. I like how the second player can control him.
Nice. This was the first game I ever beat. I made my brother give me his coin collection to reveal how to beat the final screen. which was " run continuously through without stopping". ingeniuous. lol.
Great to see this again. My buddy and I use to race home from school to play this game. We loved to make The Green Yamo make that moan sound by pulling down and to the right or left on the joystick!
Hola!!!! Que lindo video juego y que épocas aquellas. Recuerdo que lo jugaba horas y horas cuando era chiquito, me encantaba, y era bastante difícil en partes, siempre llegaba a cierto lugar que me costaba mucho pasar. From Argentina congratulations!!! Aguante Bruce!!!!!
I deeply love this game which I was able to finish when I was a child :D I love the green shogun, who always yawns when appears, and also for his haircut :D honestly... my fav game... :D
I remember playing this game back in the day on my Atari 800XL. It was a fun game and I did manage to reach the ending. Sometimes i would have a friend play the green guy and he would help with the ninja.
Apple II, Atari 400/800, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, MSX, C64, this game rocked no matter what. The Apple one was the only game in which you were forced to play in alternating mode.
I remember playing this and my dad also loved it. Then one day I plugged in joystick 2 and imagine our surprise when you could control the green woman (That's what we called it) Ahh.. I miss those days.
yeah and what's funny is those weren't the normal disk loading noises, that's from that POKE command, I can't remember what it was but I'm sure you remember there was a poke you could type to make it silent (poke 762, something, I think) lol
Have to admit, Bruce Lee was in the top 10 with it's cheesy Roar from the Sumo guy. I'm not sure if it was #1 though. For #1 I'd have to either side with MULE or Archon. I still play Mule on occasion.
I think I remember this game... I def. remember Karateka and Dig-Dug on the Atari, but something about this game feels really familiar. I wish I could remember these more vividly, but I was about 4, so what can I do? lol
Great game! I used to play the Commodore 64 version though. The characters in this version look strangly weightless or something. The physics seem weird.
i thought the same thing too on the characters on the Atari version! not like the c64 I grew up with back In 1985! yeah, those were the good old days! took me awhile to beat this game! lol.. remember guys, we didn't have TRAINERS back then to have n/a lives! u literally had to stay up late trying to beat this game bad or others we HAD that drove us nuts! :D gfx looks JUST like the c64 tho! nice video too!
This version didn't go to the end. At the end there is an evil wizard and the only way to kill him is to get all the lamps. And if those 2 guys weren't trying to stop him the game would be too easy.
mine took 2 weeks to arrive & about 1 week to load up! I have to disagree about the game itself. I got a lot of fun from it & found great satisfaction in completing it unitl it got too easy. & yes, the green guy didn't exactly strike me with fear either!
if anyone knows where i can find emulators for this and karateka please let me know. these games are friggin CLASSICS! u kids are friggin spoiled with your 3-D virtua fighters and tekkens. this is where it all started!

loved this game.....its such a classic that not alot of people remember
Way ahead of its time.
All I can say is that no Atari game was more fun over a real long period of time and is still as enjoyable as 25 years ago! A genuine classic!

Thank you for posting this. It brought back such great memories.
The 10mns it took my tape player to load the game were so worth it. It may be the first game I have ever completed. I was 7.
Nice. This was the first game I ever beat. I made my brother give me his coin collection to reveal how to beat the final screen. which was " run continuously through without stopping". ingeniuous. lol.
That brought a tear to the eye :)
I have an Atari 800 and that has to be one of my favourite games on it, played it a lot!
Good video
Awesome, thanks for posting this! I still have my working 800XL and floppy of this game, and it's still fun.
Great to see this again. My buddy and I use to race home from school to play this game. We loved to make The Green Yamo make that moan sound by pulling down and to the right or left on the joystick!

ohh!!! the last time i saw this game i was about 6... a friend spilled juice on the game cassette... so many memories
I remember playing this game back in the day on my Atari 800XL. It was a fun game and I did manage to reach the ending. Sometimes i would have a friend play the green guy and he would help with the ninja.
I own over 300 Atari 800 games and this was one of them. . . It was possibly one of my favorites, but it no longer works. I'm disappointed.
Childhood memories on the 800xl
Apple II, Atari 400/800, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, MSX, C64, this game rocked no matter what. The Apple one was the only game in which you were forced to play in alternating mode.
Awesome vid ! This was my very first video game ever! =D
I remember playing this and my dad also loved it. Then one day I plugged in joystick 2 and imagine our surprise when you could control the green woman (That's what we called it) Ahh.. I miss those days.
OMG!!! I HAVENT SEEN THIS IN OVER 25 YEARS...........GREEN YAMMO ROCKS!!!
What a game man... I was cheering and sighing to every successful jump and death
Brilliant. I loved how the Green Yamo could kick the ninja instead of you by accident!
maaan what a game. good old days!
I played that game! I rocked on this!
the sound of the disk drive, epic!
DIOSSS!!! mi juego preferido de la infancia. que recuerdos!!
1:53 sOMETHING UNIQUE FROM THIS GAMES is that the characters seem to "float"
rather than fall.
Summer Games, World karate Championchip or Goonies were awesome!
Man i had this when i was about 8 . My 800xl was chipped i think . Had hundreds of games on floppy disc! Still got it up loft.
do tej pory jak mam chwile to gram w BRUCE LEE:)
este era mi juego favorito del atary 800xl, nunca lo termine XD
THE BURPING BULL!! (Well, that's what we called it when my friends and I were in middle school.)
This was one of my favorites, along with Karateka - I like when the fat guy "moo"s lol
genius game. I remember if you leave the joystick idol, the screen flashes all different colours, I thought that was amazing.
Great memories and a great game; except when it crashed!
Such a great game this one.
micky, they sure don't. Our games in the 80s were more fun than a lot of games today. King's Quest days rocked, too. Sierra.
thanks for share!
Nice!!! Like!!! I played this game if I child :D
This game is made of pure win.
Playing with Bruce Lee and with Buchu is kinda funny.. poor ninja.
bruce lee ninja and mr sumo....gotta love it..hie yah!

my first game in 1985

The Green Yamo!!!
@Sal1981 I would say it was identical to the C64 version probably uses the exact same code in fact
Brilliant, the other game I liked was Conan but you could get it on floppy disc which was a lot more expensive than tape!
Thumbs up if you've beat the entire game more than once.
Green Yammo fuckin' rocks!!
Best thing about this game was you could play it 2p, one guy as bruce and one as the sumo wrestler.
if you play with 2 players option, you can choose the Green fat :D, i remember ... xD
Very pity indeed. Hope I will see a real longplay from Koronis Rift or Karateka here soon...
is there any way for someone to play this game now without having to buy an old ATARI 800XL, i used to have one, but now all that's left are the disks
wow...nice
I always thought that ninja s carying a scythe:)
Physics!
omg this looks like a game maker game XD
you're absolutely right. It's the 1050, isn't it ?
Great game! I used to play the Commodore 64 version though. The characters in this version look strangly weightless or something. The physics seem weird.

Esse jogo é igual ao do TK 90 X pqno micro da decada de 80!
The main menu screen should be on a fucking T-shirt..
@helshabini Just use an emulator like Atari800winplus or similar!
i loved to play as sumo and kick my friends asses :) gr8 game
this is computer porn right here!
I preferred the C64 version.
