Excellent video! I try to stay away from the news feed because my heart can't take it, but your videos always give me a healthy perspective on what's really going on in the world. Thank you for your work.
Talking about blue ink. I was a trainee at the "Blue Line" APM Copenhagen in the late 60's and I enjoy your videos and the immense amount of knowledge you pour into them - a sweet nostalgic remembrance for my part. As an economist today this episode with all the graphs and tables was a bucketful of M&Ms. At APM I was attached to Mariners Department with special care about education and career planning of deck crew all the way to captains. I especially enjoyed your video on how to become an American mariner. Somewhat different from back then in Denmark but still recognizable for me. You promised another follow up video on that subject but i haven't seen one. Did I miss it?
I absolutely love your channel and videos!!! 😊🩷 Would you please consider doing a video(s) on port congestion in South American ports? As I understand it, the surplus of imports into the region, all-time record low water level in Manaus, Navegantes port construction, etc... are leading to poor service level and carriers not calling at certain ports. Would be super curious to hear your take on this! (I see this in container business, not sure about liquid bulk/other types of vessels)
🎉hey Sal ! First time,❤that I leave😅a Line for you ,Sir! Loved this Presentation of yours🎉& Like your Style ~if I we're younger😂 Defenetly I would Love to be one of your Students😮 4now,I Love 2 follows your Chanel no.5@ the perfume Shop& Love the way You explain Shipping👍greetings fromm Berlin,Germany , EUROPE....t.
Would be highly educational to see the life cycle of the large cargo / crude ship. From its birth in China to it being scrapped in Bangladesh. If the world was serious about green transition, some of the private equity investors would had funded a world class recycling plant next to the ship breaking yards. I haven't looked at the Maritime Transport Report, I would be surprised if it shows the top 3 ship breaking yards in the world. My guess is: India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The yard in Brownsville pales in comparison to any one of those.
@wgowshipping With respect to the container move times in Table IV, what role does US Customs play in that metric? In other words, is the rating based on time for the container to leave the ship and exit the yard on road/rail/barge? And is the US Customs processing time comparable to other countries?
I can't say for maritime shipping, but in transport by air, customs clearance is processed ahead of arrival - usually by the shipping company (FEDEX ect.). Digitized Data of all documentation - including x-ray scans of cargo - is received by telecommunication - the only physical interference by the agencies would be routine - or investigative - inspections, minimizing any holdup of cargo.
8:00 look at the tonnage increase after Reaganomics incentivized US manufacturing's move offshore and product had to be shipped into the US instead of out.
Went down the rabbit hole on yachts and got me wondering how we could better sculpt law for domestic yacht building? I am hearing that you can treat even a foreign built yacht like a second home and deduct the interest on any loan on the purchase? How is this not a political talking point?
Love your ship show, so I've determined ocean rises are all caused by ship, tankers everything, ya paddleboards with heavy girls causing displacement, AYE, what say you
If that's a concern, I'm sure China will stop building new Coal power plants and pull back on their polluting industry, any day now. ...nope, they're not stopping. What does this mean???
I really enjoy your program no idea why however. Do you have a pony tail? Just noticed how your hair is combed back. Thank you, your facts scare me as much as did our elections this Tuesday
Not sure how, but this channel makes it very exciting to watch
Mercurial personality and passion.
Sal is absolutely a fun dude to hang out. I wish he was my history teacher back in my school years.
Excellent presentation and eloquence coupled with well explained knowledge.
Excellent video! I try to stay away from the news feed because my heart can't take it, but your videos always give me a healthy perspective on what's really going on in the world. Thank you for your work.
Thanks!
Thank you!!!! 🙏 Congrats on the subs!!!!!
What better thing to wake up to on a Sunday but a mass of tables and graphs.
An important subject that significantly affects economies around the world, but only receives minimal media coverage.
Thanks Sal!
Love this channel!
Thanks for watching!
Sitting here listening and at 4:58 I suddenly realise I've got a beer on my desk - cheers!!!
Insurance rates on the yearly shipping expense charts are higher than Chong I would bet...
Epic.
'Trade gets a boost (...) by shifting to longer shipping routes'
If there ever was a United Nations institutional euphemism.
Great video Sal. Thank you.
Gabriel of Norway.🎉
Thanks for watching!
"Things are going to happen..." Poor Sal, such a dreamer...😄
From the kayak once again,
Thanks Sal
The Jerk is a great movie!!

Good Job "Steve, aka Jerk 😂", ❤your show
Good morning Sal. Watching from Tennessee.
Good morning Tennessee!
Excellent episode.
wish I had a prof. as good as you in my university! Times are changing at a rapid pace, best of luck keeping abreast.
Western container handling performance surprisingly good.
I absolutely love your channel and videos!!! 😊🩷

Sal is a good actor, nice Steve Martin I knew what you were going for before you said!
Makes fascinating reading, but also highlights how powerful and influential China has become, in what is a relatively short period in history,
Great video 👍👍👍👍
14:20 Is this "other" section linked to upcoming ports around the Indian coast? Vadhavan & Vizhinjam?
You look happy Sal :)
Great stuff, thanks Sal! o/
Great videos ... Have you done an episode on the Reserve Military Ships ‘SS Antares’ and ‘SS Denebola' leaving Baltimore for Texas to be scrapped?
I have not. I need to do one.
Good report!

Thank you kindly
Does the Chinese ownership of Greek ports/infrastructure have any impact on the balance between Greek and Chinese ship ownership?
I'm always happy to see Belgium on the data list 😅. We're often not included.
Sal should chart the increase in my alcohol consumption due to his Bab Al Mandeb game. (Recently resigned
MSC Nav/Ops)
no England, old world capitol of shipping, no USA? Spain? (one) amazing, what do we need to do Sal? (Better Call Sal)
I've spent thirty minutes watching guy explaining graphs that not really interest me...I've enjoyed it 😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
UN-Involved in fun!
Is there a report like this in relation to the railroads?
I don't know.
I'd like to know, too.

Sal you need to develop your Stand Up Routine, then take on the road around the Country too.

🙋🏽♂️Have you touched on the Battleship Texas saga? Where is it going to go now the deal with Galveston is dead?
I have not.

Does anyone know if there is a train knowledge based channel, similar to this amazing shipping channel?
I'd love to know, too!
Uh oh. Standing buy for cans of oil takers to start leaking.😮
Climate change induced sea level rise (AMOC, Greenland, Thwaites glacier) will affect Global Shipping when it floods ports.
If that's a concern, I'm sure China will stop building new Coal power plants and pull back on their polluting industry, any day now.
...nope, they're not stopping.
What does this mean???
You know what they say about obsessively watching The Jerk on DVD? See a doctor and get rid of it.
It would have been nice if you can insert your face (cube) instead of only having to look at static charts.
Thanks for what you do though.
I appreciate the feedback! I've been trying to focus on the data, and not get in the way.
who publish the book?
UN Conference on Trade and Development
The day this report comes out is Sal's peersonal Christmas 🤪
It really is!
@wgowshipping lol 😊
Shot glass ready? [ 4:57 ]
Does this mean Harold Dagget is going to cripple everyone ?
21:40 TAIWAN IS NOT A PROVINCE OF CHINA
Is an UN graph just a wank in 2024?
I really enjoy your program no idea why however. Do you have a pony tail? Just noticed how your hair is combed back. Thank you, your facts scare me as much as did our elections this Tuesday
NO!!! I just need a hair cut.
CHARTS !?!?*!?!😮
🤭🤭🤭
Back to classroom stuff, huh ... ?😴
You took a sip of nothing when you said Bab-el-Mandeb. What gives?
Sal, you cannot be the Jerk, you have too much rhythm, lol.
Revelation 18:17-19 is coming.
Sal would like to chat with you …. Want my email?
😂 Good on you to enjoy the paper medium in a digital age... Paperless? no 'jerks',
