Discovered a Derelict Frighter giving S-class upgrades (Fuel Efficency 19%. Hyperdrive Range 248 LY). It's in the Hyades Galaxy. System Higineth II, T3, Gek. The frighter have 10 rooms, 3 of them are storage. 1st room is easy to buypass security. Room 3,4.5 have Horrific Nests. Room 6 has Horrific Nests and glowing Jellyfish. Here is a tip to 'save' the scanner, after you find the freighter and before you activate the first terminal, place the emergency scanner inside your personal refiner, this will 'hide' it from the terminal and allow you to use it again after you finish this freighter

I've also found that the freighter names, no matter what system you spawn in, if they are the same name as a freighter you have been in before with the same name, the technology module will also be exactly the same level. For instance, SS Nobeo XII is a C class module on every spawn in every system

jesus christ you have put some time into this game. to figure out every system in the game like you have takes some serious dedication to this game. i wouldnt have the patience but respect and will try take some of your tips onboard but information overload springs to mind. ps sorry about punctuation im using my air mouse remotes keyboard which is fiddly af.
Something to keep in mind is that fuel efficiency and frigate speed modules do not have ANY effect on frigates that do not already have such bonuses. If you send out 5 Combat Frigates and none of them have fuel modifiers, that fleet will cost exactly the same amount of fuel with 6 fuel efficiency modules as it will with zero. Similarly, Speed modules have no effect on frigates that do not have any modifiers to speed. Unless you are using a lot of Support Frigates, you might want to avoid both modules and save some slots.
@@Wilding777 you can, but they are random and uncommon upgrades with vastly lower amounts than from Support frigates. A fleet bonus of 95% fuel efficiency (all six upgrades) on a fleet with a single combat ship with a 3% fuel modifier is going to save... 5 % fuel instead of 3%.
@@neronah7349 currently, none of the modules decrease deployment time, even the ones that claim they do. Either they are broken or not fully implemented yet. I just put up a video about this myself.
@@seriousleesgaming3042 The same goes for fuel efficiency modules. I have not observed any fuel consumption difference whatsoever with them installed or not, sending out both support frigates and specialists.
I put the emergency receiver in my personal refiner once I've landed on the freighter and before opening the sealed door, that way I never lose it or need to buy another.
Thank you for this video. I modified some of your set up slightly using 6 of the 20 percent expedition efficiency modules and 6 of the 250 ly hyperdrive modules. My capital ship now has a hyperdrive range of 6380.9 and a fleet coordination of 124.5

Something ive discovered is that if you buy one from a scrap dealer and change systems you will get the layout of the new system, the name of the old system freighter and the class of the original system (or i got lucky finding another system with A class rewards).
had my flashligth off once for some reason. cleared it in pitch darkness with only d glow of my multitool n scanner. scared myself shitless with d accidental chair squeek. would recommend it. pleasantly terrifying.
Picked this tip up on Jason Plays I believe...use your Emergency Broadcast Receiver, then quickly place it in your Personal Refiner. Pulse to get to the Derelict Freighter, finish it, leave. Then remove it from your Personal Refiner again and it's reset. Never buy another one again. Recycling for the win!

Great guide but lad, when people especially permadeath players, look up a guide on new content they want to know 100% about the enemy types. If I had known I could farm certain systems where I knew the freighters enemy list was just 6 glowing jellyfish compared to Satan's egg sanctuary that info would have been helpful
Xaine: At about 1:24, you mention the "timer". Is this a timer before anything will happen, meaning "you have to wait this long before you'll encounter anything in this system"? Or a counter of how long you can "hunt" encounters? And what/how long IS that timer? And do I understand you to mean all of this is predicated on needing to have been playing for 3 hours continuously first before any of that happens? Thanks for the awesome information!

Every derelict freighter I’ve stumbled across in space have been broken up into chunks, with no landing pad whatsoever. They look nothing like the ones in your video. Am I just finding derelict freighters that have already been looted?

Would have gotten it but was like 70k nanites and well im a broke traveler (please dont tell my woman!!). But yah anyone know what it does or has seen it. O and i found in a black market dealer that had landed on planet that i was checking the water depth to. Or was that the 2nd time i saw it. Anyways, anyone know what it is for? So I just happened to cross a derelict freighter. Unfortunately this video doesn't help in the sligtest, as I have no idea how to board it at all, despite flying around it in circles for about 5 minutes now. Game interface isn't giving any clues either.
I got a C Class Freighter I love the look of. Is there such a thing, like in real life, where you take a junk car and tune it up into a super car, where you can upgrade your Freighter to an S class super Freighter or would I be wasting my time and I should just try to buy a “good one.” Mine looks like a Warhammer 40K ship and I love it
An “anomaly” pulled me out of my pulse engine on the way to the space station. I had no idea what it was and it scared me. It must’ve been a freighter.
Does anyone else consistently get a glitch that blocks you from moving into the second zone of the derelict? I find one just fine, open the first door, and clear that first room, but there is always some invisible barrier in the hallway to the second room that I can't get around. I have screenshots that show my mining laser being stopped by something that isn't there.
@16:11 you say ship bays inside the derelict freighters, is there a specific type that has them? I've been through about 5-6 of them and have seen no ship bays, just the empty landing pads you land on to enter. Also you say the DF that you give coordinates to is not so good in Euclid galaxy, but what galaxy do we need to go to?
I'm having this annoying thing with derelict freighters. When I go in and do some exploring, after a while I cannot shoot anymore. When I click to shoot I hear the sound of shooting but there are no projectiles or anything coming out of my weapon. Had this happen 2 times in a row.
So I left my derelict ship because I needed to drop of loot but now I can't find it and it's just trying to make me sell the manifest, what do I do to find it again??? I spent 5 mil to find it so I'm kinda freaking out
Unfortunately, you've lost the freighter. From what I remember reading, they're a one shot deal, you can't leave them to sell and then come back. They despawn after a certain range, and the quest in your quest log will disappear as well.
Are we even playing the same game? I haven't even encountered a freighter that i can enter yet!? EDIT: so i had an emergency broadcast thing and i found one! I had no idea these were a thing, thanks for the video! Two minutes in and i have never ever seen any of those things shown ever and im 50 hours in, do.i have to do more missions or something? I thought i completed the main story but from the inside of the freighters to whatever those things were in space i have literally never came across them....

It's actually quite lacking. Freighter mega-guide has been on my to do list for a while and until I properly research a subject, I often know sod all lol
On PS4 I seem to get the exact same enemies in the freighters always a combo of the turrets, robots, and glowing jellyfish, have yet to have any of the others. I know it's a roll of the dice but the odds seem stacked
Alright, so, S class freighters prior to desolation will not be the same as after desolation, which means, i need to find me a new S class so i can get more hyperdrive power out since I have only around 4.6k and some change. Makes me sad. Same was with my gun, which only had like 310 damage output prior to desolation and after that, looks like they have added a "zero" to the new guns, thus, making a 4 digit number power output. Hey, Xaine. I've been out of NMS for a while, over a year, was considering getting back into it, but I had a question on freighters. Seeing as I'd need a new one, if I get a new freighter and rebuild the freighter storage items, will all the items I had on my old freighter storage transfer over, and thus just have to find inventory space for items in the main freighter inventory? Or will I have to find some way of moving everything to ship storages, as much as I can? (I played on survival unfortunately, so my inventory storage is almost nonexistent) Would I be better off starting a new save on say normal? I noticed in one of your patch notes that we couldn't flood the market to make money with many items anymore, which items can you still use to make quick money - if it's worth just starting over on normal? Nice video. I've found an s-class derelict freighter technology module with a 17% fuel efficiency and 247% hyper drive. That is not bad and the only one I have found in 15 hours. Only trying wealthy systems. This is harder than the s class freighter reload! Has anyone found a warp with 250 and fuel of 20 yet? I keep pulsing in this system to obtain more modules from the same freighter. Random s class every time
What’s better? Hunting for storm crystals or farming nip nip? Storm crystals hunting is kinda easy, but I’d like to start a nip nip farm but idk if it’s worth it
The adjacency of upgrades is quite baffling. Could you answer some questions please Xaine? 1) How do you know that 2x2 slots with upgrades is better than 1x4? I can't find anywhere in the game that shows the stats for these things. Nowhere in the game does it seem to mention fleet speed, combat, trading stats, etc. 2) How did you determine that the arrangement you have used with 3x3 slots is the most effective (other than the stat on the right hand side of the screen)? Can it be improved upon? I've discovered a derelict freighter with pretty reasonable stats - hyperdrive 248% and fuel efficiency 19%. Not quite as good as the one you've mentioned but the final goal (the upgrade) is very easy to get to with just a few enemies along the way (these can be ignored - you can just run straight past them). The portal coordinates are Moon, planet over water, black hole, scarab (insect), planet over water, boat, rocket, rocket, black hole, boat, balloon, black hole.
A mixture of an explanation from an early researcher of the game files (Ket) and testing in game. So each part will give a percentage bonus to whatever touches it, the percentage is decided by what is touching the part but will be applied to the part itself. So if an s class module that gives a 6% bonus is touching the main module which imparts a 2.5% bonus, the main module which has a base stat of 100 has a 6 ly bonus as the s class which imparts a 6% bonus is touching it. In turn, the s class module is being touched by the main module, so has its light-year stat (say 250) increased by 2.5% as the main module that is touching it imparts a 2.5% bonus, which brings it to 256.25ly. It's a complicated thing to explain, so apologies if I didn't word that well
@@XainesWorld Yes, I agree that is that case with hyperdrive, but how do you know it also works with the other stats such as combat, trading, speed, etc?
@@3960xRocks because if it doesn't they will be the only ones of that type of module in the game that doesn't. It's the most likely situation. I believe I tested them against the freighter bonus stat that pops up to, getting different numbers based on their adjacency to each other. It's not 100%, but highly likely
Okay here's a question about freighter hunting that I never thought to ask before. When you get portal coordinates to a system does using the portal count as the fifth warp? If not then how does it work? After all, you can't warp anymore after going through the portal.
It doesn't no, you need to warp to the location. Although, using multiplayer there are a few ways, either you could join the game of someone who is already there and use the teleporter then save in your ship which will give you a teleporter link when back in single player, or you can be in a group, have someone dial the portal to that place then exit the anomaly and choose to arrive where that person is. Also note that (at least it was like this a while back) uncharted systems, also maybe abandoned systems, will not spawn a capital freighter battle, which if one is due will delay the battle until the next non uncharted system
The heavy weighting towards C class on the tech modules in the lockers.. kind of disappointing if you have to spend 5 mil to 30 mil to find a derelict. At least that's how i felt when I came out with a bunch of C class tech mods.. and maybe 1-4 mil worth of loot. Only thing worth was the bulkhead.
Wait a minute, I have seen C-class freighters of the capital variety with more than 24 slots. Since I never opted for a C-class, I wonder what will happen if you try to upgrade such freighter.
I have been finding them over and over and I CANNOT find the landing spot. Never. Any idea why? I can even find the deposit boxes and doors to open using my ship if the room is in the open, but I cannot land / leave my ship wth?
I stupidly went to the next galaxy for the first time(i'm a day one player lol) forgetting that when you do everything and I mean everything gets broken in your ship and inventory, So I think i'm gonna have to grind some frieghters to get some repair kits lol
pretty sure they got rid of adjacency bonuses years ago. provided all of the same time are touching then they all get the bonus, so a straight line works.
This is incorrect. If you move the modules around (hyperdrive is the easiest to see) you’ll note that the stats change depending on adjacency and sides. Cheers!
Thanks for all the fantastic info! Question though. How do I know the hylerdrive bonus on a freighter? I didn't see it listed. I just found an S class with a base range of 180.9 ly. Is that an 80% bonus?
Aye for the hyperdrive range of a fresh freighter, just take 101 off the total, so yours is 79.9% which is very good and could only be very slightly better
I tried to get around derelict freighters but it's to hard to find sll the doors in them I just get lost and wind up walking around in circles and just give up is there an an easy way to navigate in there
I have yet to find a derelict that has anything but C class tech. Should I just keep trying new systems? Does the system's wealth effect the class of technology in the engineering room?
Anyone having a problem with game not saving AFTER being on a derelict? I go aboard a derelict, grab loads of goodies, go back to my own Freighter, save game - next time I start up, the game has gone back to before the derelict. I'm on PC, using latest release.. anyone having this problem? I have tried manual saves, different save beacons, in/out starship auto saves... always the same. Very frustrating.

Though there's nothing much to do, you can salvage whatever cargo pod is still hanging about. It doesn't have much though.

Something to keep in mind is that fuel efficiency and frigate speed modules do not have ANY effect on frigates that do not already have such bonuses. If you send out 5 Combat Frigates and none of them have fuel modifiers, that fleet will cost exactly the same amount of fuel with 6 fuel efficiency modules as it will with zero. Similarly, Speed modules have no effect on frigates that do not have any modifiers to speed. Unless you are using a lot of Support Frigates, you might want to avoid both modules and save some slots.
Can you find all types of frigates such as combat, with fuel modifiers though?
@@Wilding777 you can, but they are random and uncommon upgrades with vastly lower amounts than from Support frigates. A fleet bonus of 95% fuel efficiency (all six upgrades) on a fleet with a single combat ship with a 3% fuel modifier is going to save... 5 % fuel instead of 3%.
Do any of the mods decrease deployment time? And what would be an good frigate stat/upgrade module combo if they do?
@@neronah7349 currently, none of the modules decrease deployment time, even the ones that claim they do. Either they are broken or not fully implemented yet. I just put up a video about this myself.
@@seriousleesgaming3042 The same goes for fuel efficiency modules. I have not observed any fuel consumption difference whatsoever with them installed or not, sending out both support frigates and specialists.
I put the emergency receiver in my personal refiner once I've landed on the freighter and before opening the sealed door, that way I never lose it or need to buy another.
Thank you for this video. I modified some of your set up slightly using 6 of the 20 percent expedition efficiency modules and 6 of the 250 ly hyperdrive modules. My capital ship now has a hyperdrive range of 6380.9 and a fleet coordination of 124.5

Something ive discovered is that if you buy one from a scrap dealer and change systems you will get the layout of the new system, the name of the old system freighter and the class of the original system (or i got lucky finding another system with A class rewards).

Picked this tip up on Jason Plays I believe...use your Emergency Broadcast Receiver, then quickly place it in your Personal Refiner. Pulse to get to the Derelict Freighter, finish it, leave. Then remove it from your Personal Refiner again and it's reset. Never buy another one again. Recycling for the win!

Great guide but lad, when people especially permadeath players, look up a guide on new content they want to know 100% about the enemy types. If I had known I could farm certain systems where I knew the freighters enemy list was just 6 glowing jellyfish compared to Satan's egg sanctuary that info would have been helpful

Xaine: At about 1:24, you mention the "timer". Is this a timer before anything will happen, meaning "you have to wait this long before you'll encounter anything in this system"? Or a counter of how long you can "hunt" encounters? And what/how long IS that timer?
And do I understand you to mean all of this is predicated on needing to have been playing for 3 hours continuously first before any of that happens?

I found some Hairy Nuts in a Derilict Freighter; and me being the immature person I am had a nice chuckle when I picked them up.

Every derelict freighter I’ve stumbled across in space have been broken up into chunks, with no landing pad whatsoever. They look nothing like the ones in your video. Am I just finding derelict freighters that have already been looted?

Again thank you for the work you put in to this. O and has anyone seen the nipnip technology? Yes theres a tech. I found and posted on Reddit like 2 weeks ago. Would have gotten it but was like 70k nanites and well im a broke traveler (please dont tell my woman!!). But yah anyone know what it does or has seen it. O and i found in a black market dealer that had landed on planet that i was checking the water depth to. Or was that the 2nd time i saw it. Anyways, anyone know what it is for? (Ps have found 2 times, one was like 80k nanites and 2nd was like 68k. ) thanks again and keep up great work
So I just happened to cross a derelict freighter. Unfortunately this video doesn't help in the sligtest, as I have no idea how to board it at all, despite flying around it in circles for about 5 minutes now. Game interface isn't giving any clues either.

I got a C Class Freighter I love the look of. Is there such a thing, like in real life, where you take a junk car and tune it up into a super car, where you can upgrade your Freighter to an S class super Freighter or would I be wasting my time and I should just try to buy a “good one.” Mine looks like a Warhammer 40K ship and I love it
An “anomaly” pulled me out of my pulse engine on the way to the space station. I had no idea what it was and it scared me. It must’ve been a freighter.

Does anyone else consistently get a glitch that blocks you from moving into the second zone of the derelict? I find one just fine, open the first door, and clear that first room, but there is always some invisible barrier in the hallway to the second room that I can't get around. I have screenshots that show my mining laser being stopped by something that isn't there.

@16:11 you say ship bays inside the derelict freighters, is there a specific type that has them? I've been through about 5-6 of them and have seen no ship bays, just the empty landing pads you land on to enter. Also you say the DF that you give coordinates to is not so good in Euclid galaxy, but what galaxy do we need to go to?

I'm having this annoying thing with derelict freighters. When I go in and do some exploring, after a while I cannot shoot anymore. When I click to shoot I hear the sound of shooting but there are no projectiles or anything coming out of my weapon. Had this happen 2 times in a row.

So I left my derelict ship because I needed to drop of loot but now I can't find it and it's just trying to make me sell the manifest, what do I do to find it again??? I spent 5 mil to find it so I'm kinda freaking out

Unfortunately, you've lost the freighter. From what I remember reading, they're a one shot deal, you can't leave them to sell and then come back. They despawn after a certain range, and the quest in your quest log will disappear as well.
Are we even playing the same game? I haven't even encountered a freighter that i can enter yet!?

Two minutes in and i have never ever seen any of those things shown ever and im 50 hours in, do.i have to do more missions or something? I thought i completed the main story but from the inside of the freighters to whatever those things were in space i have literally never came across them....

On PS4 I seem to get the exact same enemies in the freighters always a combo of the turrets, robots, and glowing jellyfish, have yet to have any of the others. I know it's a roll of the dice but the odds seem stacked
When you say galaxy do you mean like swapping over from the starter galaxy like passing through a black hole or just different systems
Alright, so, S class freighters prior to desolation will not be the same as after desolation, which means, i need to find me a new S class so i can get more hyperdrive power out since I have only around 4.6k and some change. Makes me sad. Same was with my gun, which only had like 310 damage output prior to desolation and after that, looks like they have added a "zero" to the new guns, thus, making a 4 digit number power output.

Hey, Xaine. I've been out of NMS for a while, over a year, was considering getting back into it, but I had a question on freighters. Seeing as I'd need a new one, if I get a new freighter and rebuild the freighter storage items, will all the items I had on my old freighter storage transfer over, and thus just have to find inventory space for items in the main freighter inventory? Or will I have to find some way of moving everything to ship storages, as much as I can? (I played on survival unfortunately, so my inventory storage is almost nonexistent) Would I be better off starting a new save on say normal? I noticed in one of your patch notes that we couldn't flood the market to make money with many items anymore, which items can you still use to make quick money - if it's worth just starting over on normal? Nice video. I've found an s-class derelict freighter technology module with a 17% fuel efficiency and 247% hyper drive. That is not bad and the only one I have found in 15 hours. Only trying wealthy systems. This is harder than the s class freighter reload! Has anyone found a warp with 250 and fuel of 20 yet? I keep pulsing in this system to obtain more modules from the same freighter. Random s class every time

The adjacency of upgrades is quite baffling. Could you answer some questions please Xaine?
1) How do you know that 2x2 slots with upgrades is better than 1x4? I can't find anywhere in the game that shows the stats for these things. Nowhere in the game does it seem to mention fleet speed, combat, trading stats, etc.
2) How did you determine that the arrangement you have used with 3x3 slots is the most effective (other than the stat on the right hand side of the screen)? Can it be improved upon?
I've discovered a derelict freighter with pretty reasonable stats - hyperdrive 248% and fuel efficiency 19%. Not quite as good as the one you've mentioned but the final goal (the upgrade) is very easy to get to with just a few enemies along the way (these can be ignored - you can just run straight past them).
The portal coordinates are Moon, planet over water, black hole, scarab (insect), planet over water, boat, rocket, rocket, black hole, boat, balloon, black hole.
A mixture of an explanation from an early researcher of the game files (Ket) and testing in game.
So each part will give a percentage bonus to whatever touches it, the percentage is decided by what is touching the part but will be applied to the part itself.
So if an s class module that gives a 6% bonus is touching the main module which imparts a 2.5% bonus, the main module which has a base stat of 100 has a 6 ly bonus as the s class which imparts a 6% bonus is touching it.
In turn, the s class module is being touched by the main module, so has its light-year stat (say 250) increased by 2.5% as the main module that is touching it imparts a 2.5% bonus, which brings it to 256.25ly.
It's a complicated thing to explain, so apologies if I didn't word that well

It's the most likely situation.
I believe I tested them against the freighter bonus stat that pops up to, getting different numbers based on their adjacency to each other.

Okay here's a question about freighter hunting that I never thought to ask before.
When you get portal coordinates to a system does using the portal count as the fifth warp? If not then how does it work? After all, you can't warp anymore after going through the portal.
It doesn't no, you need to warp to the location.
Although, using multiplayer there are a few ways, either you could join the game of someone who is already there and use the teleporter then save in your ship which will give you a teleporter link when back in single player, or you can be in a group, have someone dial the portal to that place then exit the anomaly and choose to arrive where that person is.
Also note that (at least it was like this a while back) uncharted systems, also maybe abandoned systems, will not spawn a capital freighter battle, which if one is due will delay the battle until the next non uncharted system
The heavy weighting towards C class on the tech modules in the lockers.. kind of disappointing if you have to spend 5 mil to 30 mil to find a derelict. At least that's how i felt when I came out with a bunch of C class tech mods.. and maybe 1-4 mil worth of loot. Only thing worth was the bulkhead.
Wait a minute, I have seen C-class freighters of the capital variety with more than 24 slots. Since I never opted for a C-class, I wonder what will happen if you try to upgrade such freighter.
I found a derelict freighter but there’s no place to land on it. I fought off some pirates after looting floating cargo packages but that’s it.
I have been finding them over and over and I CANNOT find the landing spot. Never. Any idea why? I can even find the deposit boxes and doors to open using my ship if the room is in the open, but I cannot land / leave my ship wth?
I stupidly went to the next galaxy for the first time(i'm a day one player lol) forgetting that when you do everything and I mean everything gets broken in your ship and inventory, So I think i'm gonna have to grind some frieghters to get some repair kits lol

pretty sure they got rid of adjacency bonuses years ago. provided all of the same time are touching then they all get the bonus, so a straight line works.
This is incorrect. If you move the modules around (hyperdrive is the easiest to see) you’ll note that the stats change depending on adjacency and sides. Cheers!
Thanks for all the fantastic info! Question though. How do I know the hylerdrive bonus on a freighter? I didn't see it listed. I just found an S class with a base range of 180.9 ly. Is that an 80% bonus?
Aye for the hyperdrive range of a fresh freighter, just take 101 off the total, so yours is 79.9% which is very good and could only be very slightly better

I tried to get around derelict freighters but it's to hard to find sll the doors in them I just get lost and wind up walking around in circles and just give up is there an an easy way to navigate in there
I have yet to find a derelict that has anything but C class tech. Should I just keep trying new systems? Does the system's wealth effect the class of technology in the engineering room?
