@@kbjerke My pleasure. I’m still a bit croaky after that darn flu bug got me. Hope to be narrating longer films again soon, several are made but in need of wordlings.
@@FlyingForFunTrecanair I thoroughly enjoyed the "serenery." I also remember when steam locomotives were in regular service where I grew up. OK, just barely. But I do remember them! Hope you kick that nasty flu bug! Clear skies to you!
As always, good stuff! You are so lucky to have that gentle flyer, and yet you can make an adventure out of every flight that you make! You definitely know to keep your flights interesting.

Yes, great music and video. Nice bit of history provided. Still sounds like you need a fortnight to recover. Hope the rest of the family is ok? Thx for bringing us along. 😊😊😊 John Ken
@@normanbott Possibly before my time but I’m a fan of radio detectives. The Paul Temple stories were recorded again quite recently, and very faithful to the original versions. Crawford Logan could do a very credible ‘By Timothy’!
I want to film a steam train from Saltash to Liskeard, or vice versa, at some point. It’s the fastest and most open stretch of the mainline west of Plymouth, as well as having some great cuttings and viaducts.
@@SimonAmazingClarke The film footage doesn’t really portray how close I was to the train, I estimate I was no more than 800’ from it. Due to using the auto stabilisation of the GoPro 10, I have to use the footage without zooming in at all, which tends to make the picture look more distant.
Beautiful green pastures. Do they grow crops there or is just pasture for animals? Seems you have many engine out options. Thanks again for your content. Cheers!
@@JamesMerrill-wu5fv The steam train was filmed using a GoPro Hero 10 on a hand held mount, the camera belongs to the getaway driver’s younger brother. Everything else was filmed on a GoPro Hero 5. The 10 is noticeably better for chasing trains as the auto stabilisation software is much improved, according to the teenage pundit.
I did mess around with zooming in but it didn’t appear to improve the overall film. The real experience of flying along next to the steam engine was a million times better than the film could ever portray. Thoroughly recommended 🙂
Wonderful! I can’t think of any better utility for the Aeronca.
A delightful video, I wonder if anybody aboard the train looked up, saw the Aeronca and wondered if they had slipped back in time.
Pure Magic , from start to finish. Thankyou from Thailand .
Excellent film, two of my favourite things, vintage planes and trains, plus of course Coronation Scot a fitting sound track.
I'm sure Paul and Steve would approve.....
@@johnshufflebottom7907 The getaway driver and myself both agree that any steam train at speed film has to be accompanied by ‘Coronation Scot’.
@@steveball2307 By Timothy, so they would!
A great adventure combining aviation and railroad nostalgia. You made food use of the opportunity.
That was some great footage, I enjoyed that :-)
Beautiful landscape, too
@@barkebaat The long single take of the train was filmed on a handheld GoPro 10. The auto stabilisation is very good, all done digitally.
Ahhh. Thank you for the flight, Nick! 👍

What a fun little video - thanks so much for producing and sharing.
That was just great! You live in a beautiful place.
Thank you, I loved the train music😊
Sometimes a close run thing is the best of things! Lovely music score too. 👍
Thanks for making and sharing!
Close run certainly adds the necessary pressure that sometimes makes for better performance!
Wonderful !! Thanks so much !
What great fun & a lovely film. Beautiful countryside. Really enjoyed that. Cheers Keith
It was good fun to film, flying one handed whilst holding a GoPro with the other! We must meet at Middlezoy one day.
@@FlyingForFunTrecanair We must sometime. We have a Wessex LAA flyin tomorrow that should be fun.
@@talesfromthehutandhangar Sadly I’m at work tomorrow ☹️

OK except for being a bit croaky, I'll be right in a while.
Theme tune from the original [pre 1969] "Paul Temple" series. (Probably before your time). Nice filming.

Absolute perfection.
Just live the music for the train. Sounds like an Eric Coates composition. Knightsbridge something?
Coronation Scott by Vivian Ellis. It's on UA-cam, complete with steam locomotive being chased by a Puss Moth.
That was BOSS!
what a beautiful country!
marvelous!
Just the sort of thing Jack Parham would have done!
Pity we have the 500-foot rule. Great footage

Both, all goof productive farmland.
Fabulous, great flying to intercept at the end!
Wonderful video. The locomotive was fantastic and hardly any smoke. What cameras do you use (both in the cockpit and out) ?

A proper use for an aeroplane.
Defintely, although it’s mighty lucky that I can keep up. Would be left behind on the faster stretches of line 😂
