Love your channel and thanks for making me fall in love with yakitori again. You inspired me to try, so since I can’t get the livart, I just got the Zxmoto in this video and will let you all know if it works out! 🐓
From watching your previous videos, I too got the Livart LV-982 Electric Orange Barbecue Grill , i just had to get it used on offer up for $30 but mint condition. seller also told me to put a piece of aluminum sheet on top to speed the heating up to temperature process. I went further and use the same sheet to put it on top of the food being cooked to somewhat reflect the infrared red heat back without steam and cooking the food faster. The performance of the Livart blew my mind. I also have a large stainless steel Jenn-air propane bbq grilled that has infrared searing burner on the side and that works just as good or better than electric, just outdoor. I bought a camp woven mesh stainless grill to go over the oem grates to prevent smaller food from falling through. The infrared on the side burner is the same type use on my the rotisserie and these come with higher end bbq grills. I believe you can upgrade to infrared burners if you find the size you need on bbq grills equip with the regular flame one. So far, i made thigh leg meat yakitori with trying the skin skewers for the 1st time, which i kind of like now, hehehe. Well. thank you YakitoryGuy for making me fall in love with infrared cooking.
Thanks so much for suggesting Kim’s Home. I sent them an email to see if they had any Livart grills left. They now only have 5 Livart grills remaining. I was able to get them to Ship one to me!
I just bought the Hoxha 1500W. Only $53. It appears to have mechanical controls , so I should be able to put a thermostat bypass switch. Or possibly even use a variac to run it at higher voltage .
Missed the livestream but did cook yakitori last night! I've been using a propane grill cause it's all i have access too, and it's definitely tough to control flare ups but I've still made some excellent skewers. I had some yakitori in nyc recently and their kawa skewers were impressively crispy on the outside, I'm working on getting that crispy/juicy thing going. Cutting out subcutaneous fat this time helped a lot i think.
One thing to consider when evaluating grills is wattage per square inch. The higher the ratio, the higher the operating temperature. I recently picked up a MYS-600. It's a tiny grill only 15 by 15 cm, and it only uses 650 watts. However the watts per square inch is higher than any other grill. It has a height adjustable yakitori rails that can be adjusted while hot. Since it Japanese domestic market, it's designed for 100 volts rather than 110. However since the circuit is just a big resistor and a switch, the extra voltage should not be a problem aside from perhaps a slightly shorter life. It doesn't come with a grill top, but you can find a small one designed for bushcraft that fits perfectly for about 10 dollars. It's tiny and can fit in a drawer. Since I will typically just cook for myself the size should be good. The small size also means that it is quicker to clean.
Thanks for your insight! Yea that or the other similar designed ones of that Yatai grill series seems like it'll work just like the Livart with the open coil design.
I’m Italian and I bought an “arrosticini” electric grill. Arrosticini are lamb skewers typical of the Abruzzo region in Italy. I’ve got dedicated charcoal grills for them but wanted to try the 2000W electric version for indoor use. Well it works great with yakitori as well. Very limited smoke. And it’s relatively cheap at 70€. Of course you miss the taste profile of actual charcoal, but it’s still quite good. Just for those that might be interested.
Hello from Guam Yakitori guy, I really enjoy all of your Yakitori tutorials. It’s provided the platform to learn how to do Yakitori. I wanted to share a recent photo of our Yakitori themed dinner. Although it’s not as nice as your presentation it will be soon with some practice. Where. Can I send some photos?
@12:11 I happen to just recently purchased the Everdure portable charcoal grill pictured at the top of the list for just general cooking. I was wondering if you think that this grill would work with bintochan and with making yakitori in general. One thing I noticed is that the charcoal sits pretty low into the grill when using the Everdure, as compared to these yakitori charcoal grills you have reviewed on your channel, the distance between the meat and the charcoal sit relatively close. Was wondering if I could get your insight before I invest in purchasing another grill more suitable for yakitori. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
Speaking of Yakitori equipment, The MotherPot. Is it best to go with glass or ceramic? I want to stay away from plastic. What do Japanese chefs and families use for their Mother Pots? Thanks buddy 🙇♂️
I'm going nuts trying to find a replacement for my 4 year old livart grill that broke. I can't find anything! Any ideas? No budget.. I just want electric that cooks like that thing did.
My friend has one so we used it for indoor Yakitori once. The heat is really great, but the wide metal bars on the grates (vs thin mesh) makes it so you're half cooking on metal (conduction) vs the radiation heat from more open top design. Works, but not the most ideal for Yakitori.
@@yardburd2000 It does gets plenty hot to cook up Yakitori though. I think many "not hot" reviews for electric grill including Livart grills, people expect it to sear 2 inch steaks which these indoor grills aren't designed for. I just ordered a cheap electric grill off Amazon so will be reviewing shortly.

Yea skin is tricky, but super tasty when done right! Key is cooking it slow to render out the fats and avoiding char so it stays golden in color.
You are a cool guy

Can you send me the name of the grill you got?
Same....can you send a link? I can't find any with wattage that high.
Don’t know why it keeps getting deleted. Manufacturer is FBM2, model F20

What’s the best charcoal yakatori grill to get in your opinion?
I did well with the TONZE - similar to the Livart
That's good to know! Will maybe review it!!
@@Yakitoriguy Pretty much the same as Livart
1500W with a triple tube
The grate is not the square pattern
Would have went with your Livart recommendation but was unavailable - TONZE folks had good customer service

Sent someone i know in LA to Kim's Home Center in Koreatown and they had the grills, a bunch of them. They got me a deluxe one for only $55
Thanks for the tip!
Awesome! Hope you make lots of Yakitori!

ahh looks like Yakigang bought it all out!
Anyone try the Philips (or any other rebranded) indoor infrared smokeless grill?

@@Yakitoriguy I purchased a tenergy infrared indoor unit as well as a stainless rack, definitely looking forward to testing it
