One of the finest actresses of our era whose performances in Pinter's "Betrayal" and " The Heat of the Day"( Novel,Bowen; screenplay,PInter) will live and be remembered forever (even in the USA).Funny story; I was attending a fine West End production of Betrayal in ..2003? At intermission, a fellow countrywoman turned to me and said in her best Texan, "EXCUSE me! Can you tell me what this is about? I havn't understood a word." One might add: Burton is so right to mention Hodge's 'Emma" in the "Torcello" [Venice] scene.Exquiste control.
