Um oden is very different he is probably stronger than your average first commanders cause -his own subordinates few of them were commanders level (reason why kaido wants them so much) -oden is the one that scarred kaido a thing I am sure a first commander could have never done (kaidos second commander couldn't do shit to big mom) -oden is more of a freelancer xD I guess oden was the first person to have an entire crew join wb so hence he became first commander ,, and even Oda has forshadowed oden has been really strong like a king or any big characters in one piece - given even how sengoku was talking about him I am sure his title is above any first commander level -staying against a prime wb in a sword clash and that too with a display of Kings haki is different. -he is like reyleigh a right hand who is way stronger than your typical right hands

Orochi definitely snaked Odens death. There’s no way Kaido would be able to take him down and boil him alive even if he is considered the worlds strongest creature. WB was the worlds strongest pirate and even Oden made him go try hard mode conquerors haki on the very first clash they had.

These flashbacks with Oden really make him seem like a beast. But we can't forget that Luffy is basically just like Oden in terms of strengths and feats. Luffy is only like 19 in the current story and Oden is 27 when he is squaring up with Whitebeard. So Luffy is on the same level as all the Yonko when they were his age.

Yeah, the characters are amazing. Oda must put lot of time and research on them. Did you notice those random pirates on the cover page? I was amazed by their design! Especially the captain. We're 960 chapters in and yet they still look so unique, have an impact. How does he do it?
Little by little it's becoming more and more apparent that Jinbe is in fact from Wano. "From" in the sense like someone in real life will refer to their hometown as a place where they grew up or that they relate more to without being born there. I mean he obviously identifies more as from wano with the attire, top knot and sandals. Before anyone says it, no his kimono is NOT his fisgmab karate uniform. From this chapter 30 years ago, that means Momonosuke was born in 2 years time and Hiyori in 4 years. Maybe while sailing with white beard Oden met Lady Toki. As there were no women in the 9 red Scabbards to take care of Momo. Oden and WB traded Izo for lady Toki. That being said, white beard had to come back to Wano in 2 years to have Momo. Then leave with Roger for 2 years then conceived Hiyori.
The scene where Oden comes back to the capital reminded me of Prince Ali and how he enters Agrabah (animated version of Aladdin of course). In my head i was hearing the voice of Robin Williams

Two things. Why has anyone not noticed that Oden has been using ONE sword during this whole flashback? It may look like he is using two swords during the clash with Whitebeard, but he's actually using one and has been since the flashback began. The second thing is why isn't anyone talking about how the recent anime episode has jumped ahead is showing scenes that are currently taking place in the manga? Oden saving the Minks from the crowd was shown last week in the anime, but was shown in this chapter.

Whitebeard just may not have used haki. We have flashbacks of pre timeskip Rayleigh using black armaments when he saved Camie. WB might have just trusted his blade, and used observation to know Oden wouldn't break it, even haki'd up.

These flashbacks with Oden really make him seem like a beast. But we can't forget that Luffy is basically just like Oden in terms of strengths and feats. Luffy is only like 19 in the current story and Oden is 27 when he is squaring up with Whitebeard.

I think part of the reason Kawamatsu was stuffing his face was because he was so used to starving. Only makes his backstory while he eats even sadder.

It may look like he is using two swords during the clash with Whitebeard, but he's actually using one and has been since the flashback began. The second thing is why isn't anyone talking about how the recent anime episode has jumped ahead is showing scenes that are currently taking place in the manga? Oden saving the Minks from the crowd was shown last week in the anime, but was shown in this chapter.

Man, so many great possible outcomes for the battle for Wano! With all Oden’s connections, anyone could show up! Rayleigh, Scopper, Shanks and Buggy based on their offer they made before Oden went home. The Whitebeard Pirates could show up too. Even Blackbeard is a possibility; who knows, maybe he and Oden were friends. Zoro’s master too. Or maybe Zoro will become an honorary scabbard in place of his master.

In Whitebeards defense, he was probably restraining himself because he didn't want to injure a local whereas Oden was going all out without restraint. Whitebeards expression is his immediate regret at underestimating Oden.
