    Does anyone else understand foreign languages better when hearing them from polyglots?

    • @mahrhcp
      @mahrhcp 7 років тому +90

      joanna_k maybe hearing foreign languages by people that is not one hundred per cent fluent in a whole makes everything easier to understand. Or am I wrong?

    • @johannak1983
      @johannak1983 7 років тому +71

      I guess it has to do with how fast and clearly they speak. Natives generally tend to speak way faster and indistinctly than foreigners!

    • @lucasaraujo993

      joanna_k I think this is because the accent, especially us Brazilians, our accent sometimes is very remarkable

      also we just tend to listen more closely to what polyglots are saying

      Thanks for the video. Really nice seeing you speaking in all these languages. I speak Finnish, en, es, pt-br, it & a bit of fr and & Swedish. Spanish & Portuguese are very close. Now that you're living in Germany it's important to learn more about the language. I can recommend languagetransfer.org I learned pretty much all my Spanish there. The teacher really teaches to think & not just memorize a bunch of rules. He taught me that & It helped me pick Portuguese & Italian easily. There's free courses for many languages. Check it out if you want.

    I’m Polish, so that’s the language I’ll focus on. In my opinion you’re Polish is great as for foreigner, many times I watched some other foreigners trying to speak this language, they mostly knew the words, but way they were pronouncing them was just strange and many times they were non-understandable. You are really well understandable, because you’re focusing on good pronunciation. Excluding some small grammatical mistakes, that you made, you did really well. Keep on going with learning Polish, not many foreigners, especially non-Slavic ones, can do our language as well as you! Greetings!

    • @erdno
      @erdno 4 роки тому +1

      Em bom português, o verbo "morar", na verdade, também não encaixa muito bem na referida situação. Então, acho que devia ser utilizado o verbo "viver" também, tanto em espanhol como em portguês.

      +Tom Marvolo Riddle being that negative was unnecessary. Even when I speak English, one of my native languages, I struggle. Even though my level of literacy is few and far between the average. He is trying, not giving up, and has a thirst for improvement, enrichment, and betterment. What is wrong with that? Why do people with great energy, such as him, manage to attract such horrible energy? Please, leave your comments, horrible, at home. You could have given constructive criticism, man. Thank God he always has the ability to just overlook your comment, as does every other person on this planet.

    una piccola critica COSTRUTTIVA
    *nessuno già parla italiano > "nessuno parla più l'italiano", oppure "l'italiano non lo parla più nessuno"
    *fare amici sull'internet > "fare nuove amicizie su Internet"
    *questo mi ha aiutato troppo > "questo mi ha aiutato tantissimo" (la parola "troppo" ha un valore negativo)
    *per fare il processo della cittadinanza italiana > "per la procedura per la cittadinanza italiana"
    *è stato molto buono imparare > "ho fatto davvero bene a imparare"

    FR: Votre français est super! Actuellement, le français n'est pas ma langue maternalle (l'anglais est) et j'apprend le français depuis 3 ans maintenant. Écouter les gens (comme vous, par example) parlent le français est très bon pour moi pour améliorer mon écoute, donc merci pour ça :)
    EN: Your French is amazing! Actually, French isn't my mother tongue (English is) and I've been learning French for 3 years now. Listening to people (like you, for example) speak French is very good for me to improve my listening, so thanks for that :)

    I just subscribed to this channel after watching this video. I have been watching another polyglot, LaoShu505000 (aka Moses McCormick) who inspired me to learn new languages. I started polishing my Spanish (half-Mexican, never fully fluent), but I started learning Portuguese and Italian as well. I paused the Italian for at least a week so I could get my bearings on Portuguese. This post is for those who are thinking about learning a new language. I have been on DuoLingo for less than a month, and I just found myself reading a lengthy Portuguese comment in this thread. I think, because of my Spanish base, Portuguese was an organic choice, and Italian is the logical progression. After I learn these for over a year, I think I will continue the Latin languages with French and German. I plan on practicing in person after a few months, but I was elated to realize I was already reading Portuguese after less than a month. I hope this helps inspire people to learn, ignore the negativity, focus on constructive criticism, and learn a new language.
