I absolutely don't care if it was 20.00 or not, I like the forethought and design features. I have spent a lot of time of my life in 3rd world countries and i've been amazed at the ingenuity prompted by necessity! This is just a great example and I love it! and yes, I see that I'm WAY late to the thread! so what! hahaha

@@vegasromaniac what is the most weight this has carried? I want to build one to work on my 85 FXR and 06 Rigid. (Maybe 700lbs Max)
Perfectly adequate for a dirt bike/small displacement street bike, but in reality, a Dirt Bike etc. can be run up a simpler and more stable fixed work table without a lot of trouble. The lifting aspect is required with heavy , large displacement street bikes and this simply isn't going to work for that. Nice job on the lift,Vegas...repurposing is always a good thing and this will do exactly what you need it to do...
Yeah I think it will hold up to 400 pounds.. But that's about it

I have a lift table, and a motorcycle / atv lift, and all the scrap wood I could ever need for this project, guess what I'm making tomorrow, 2 lift tables.... thank you sir you are the bomb.

Yep, I saw your first video about this and was pissed you didn't show any plans or details on how you made it. I thought you said you would post plans. Anyway, I found this video and now I'm happy. You did an awesome job making this. I already have that same Craftsman jack and plan to make your lift soon. I have a KLX250 and next Spring I'm getting a 300 2-stroke enduro. Also going to build a street legal flat tracker out of a Yamaha RD400. Yep, I'm a 2-stroke guy at heart, have been since 1974. My biggest problem will be getting the RD down 1 flight of stairs into my basement since I don't have a garage. That's where the RD400 tracker build will take place. Thanks for the lift idea....

Brother you got off on that lift , if I may suggest you can stick grip tape where the bike stands and also on the bottom so it doesn’t slide when mounting the bike. This lift was made by a dedicated biker and a professional as well imo, ride safe a thank you for the demonstration.🤘😎👍

John Acuff it was scrap wood he had after some other project. You could use OSB board which is less expensive than actual plywood

its all right not everyone has the space or even a shed and anyway the bike jack cost at least $100 I bought one to work on Harleys when I ran them as they have no centre stand it is worth getting it came with a stool on casters with a tool tray in the bottom any low stool or milk /beer crate with a bit of cardboard box for comfort would do either great for cleaning the drive chain and back wheel and where ever .depending on your bike if it comes with a factory centre stand your sorted if not front and back paddock stands or abba stands look them up they are pretty trick also a head stock lift is cool but I have a rear paddock stand . I use cushions to kneel on and an old rug or a big card board box to save the concreate floor chewing up the toes of my boots . I wear track pants when working on the bikes squatting works too at times when washing the bike . acf 50 corrosion inhibitor to keep her looking fresh .
Looks good bit I agree with other HOG riders. My Road King is just shy of 900lbs fully dressed. Stronger steel can be used and still not equal the lowest cost version available for purchase

Total materials were around $100. I used a little scrap wood but everything else was new. I had to buy a steel pipe to solidly attach my lift to the table. That added $20.

I am using your idea but altered, I have a ton of wood available to me so going out and buying that type of jack rather than a whole table works out to being about 1/4 of the total price. I am however adjusting your design to have three sets of legs to get better stability. I am also putting washers in between any where sections of wood rub when raising to avoid that squeak :)

O just put a plank of wood over it, so when the jack goes up will move the arm of the table also will give it side to side stability

its all made or lost on if you have a jack for free or cheap but really most people have the bolts, lumber, and tools already to build it and im sure you can make a bottle jack from a half ton truck work and theyre 5$ at any scrap yard
What type of motorcycle stand was that please? it was black and had a crank up arm.

How heavy is your Bike ? I have a 1987 Honda Helix Scooter that I need to fabricate something similar to what you have here so that when my bike needs repair work done, I'm not having to sit on the ground to do it, My Helix weighs in at about 350 lbs. dry weight, without fuel.
+garthks my bike is only 250, but I can stand on the table and it holds so it should be able to handle 350 or 400

Nice design but definitely more than $20. Who has those “scraps” laying around.
Lots of people have scraps like this. If not you can get several of those boards for free in the form of a pallet. Or go by a construction site and ask for some left overs. Sure you can scavenge up parts near free.

That's how much it cost me, but I had a old jack that was useless in the garage
the whole lift system is kinda cool, i love DIY stuff and building things but this thing looks pretty janky. You are lifting all that weight and material from the front of the stand that has maybe 12 inches connected to the jack. Also, the total cost to make this is not going to run anyone $20. you would be looking at $100 to $150 for that jack alone, then another $100 to $200 for wood and bolts. it would be more cost effective to just go buy a Harbor Freight table for $300.

I don't know where you shop. But I'd sure like to sell you some stuff... That jack is $90 brand new. But I have one I picked up used for $20. And that wood can be scavenged for near free. Drive by a construction site and ask if they have any scraps you can have. Pallets have some usable boards. If you like doing DIY then you have to be resourceful. Otherwise you find nearly everything can be bought for nearly what you can build it for. To buy that wood retail wouldn't cost more than $75 anyways. 3/4 sheet of plywood is $25 a sheet. And what 7 2x4s for $2.50 each, and a few bolts and screws??
locomojo0485 if you scavenge and can find a jack for $20 then sure, total investment isn't much. in Cincinnati construction sites wont just give you scrap, at least none i have seen or heard of. they aren't suppose to do that for insurance reasons, and a lot of sites won't have much usable scrap anyway. if you go and buy everything new, and i mean the cheapest material you can find. you are still going to pay close to 200. add your numbers it's still 165, i would still recommend buying a heavy duty steel table. use this idea if you are just lifting a cheap dirt bike or beginner motorcycle.
