- The second round of the Iron wig Contest is done! I styled a 18th century updo wig. At the beginning I get a box from arda wigs containing the following materials:

Very Nice! I use a steamer in my work. I also take the curling iron to curl hair but using the iron only to hold the hair in place while I steam it to shape. Of course using a curling iron while it's on will melt the hair. Using the iron to hold the hair around the iron while you steam it works well for touch up curling. I never thought to wrap foil around a curling iron! I'm a "steamer man". :) An old dog can learn new tricks!

@JakCosplay Love this so much! Goin to try a version of this later this month. I have the Arda Matilda in Dark Green, and was wondering what I could purchase in America, that would be close enough to what you have, to make the base.
Ohh thats a good question, I just bought some isolation foam from a local tool shop. I think you have a simular product in your country too. These plates are usually used to isulate walls of houses, the pink ones are even better cause their stucture is really fine...

I am so glad I clicked on this video, like OMFG so stunning!!! That trick with the aluminum foil is GENIUS, surprised I haven't seen that method before. Does it work with a standard clamp curling iron?
Hi Jacob, thank you for your lovely comment! I think you can use a clamp curling iron too, but a curling wand is probably easier, especially the one I am using because of the shape... Its easier to remove the aluminum foil.

+Mister Holgersson Hi, ansich hält das ganze Recht gut, ich habe zusätzlich aber noch einige Haarklemmen eingesetzt... Hab schon von einigen Leuten gehört das sie nach dem eigentlichen stylen Sprühkleber drüber sprühen um das dauerhaft zu fixieren, bisher habe ich mich das aber noch nie getraut und daher keine Erfahrungen damit. Könnte mir aber durchaus vorstellen das es dann wirklich bretthart hält :D
Amazing tutorial! Would it also work without cutting the weaves and sewing them on again? I want to use the wig also for other projects.
Uhh okay... If you do a updo you need to a hell lot of hairspray or glue so its not that easy to use the wig again after you styled it .

How do you do the curls on the side of the head that look like hair tunnels (sorry I don't know what they're called)
I love the term "hair tunnels" XD They're hair rolls and they're made by curling flat onto the iron in a rolling motion from the tips to the roots. You then very carefully slide the iron out and pin

Belle réalisation, mais savoir qu'au temps de Marie Antoinette, les cheveux rouge 'existaient pas. Seul le gris (Poudre) était de rigueur....
yep... its just inspired by the 18th century ... not an historical acurate cosplay or custume :D
Au 18 ième siècle ON NE TEIGNAIT PAS LES CHEVEUX EN ROUGE. Marie Antoinette cheveux gris poudrés, gris poudres seule teinture, pour les brunes le HENNE

@@Salt_euhhh en fait on pouvait teindre ses cheveux en toute les couleurs mais c vrai que le gris et le blanc étaient majoritaires .Néanmoins, on a des peintures du XVIIIeme siècle avec des gens qui ont des cheveux roses !
