Have either of you guys ever taken modafinil? I rely on it and would describe it far more as a cognitive enhancer rather than providing me with a new level of energy.
I agree Dominic, I've been on Modafinil for a year now and it's a life saver. I don't take it every day, only when I know I need to do 'deep focus' work (about 2x a week) and it has basically given me control over my life back. I am very fit and active (like you) and am on a highly effective DMT, however I still rely on Modafinil to be able to function in my day to day job. To be able to do some of the things (by far not all) I was able to do before my MS diagnoses. When you as neurologists so easily say you won't prescribe this to patients anymore, I'm a bit shocked to be honest. Please keep listening to your patients and believe that they know well what's good for them and that they can decide for themselves whether they are willing to live with the adverse effects. I for one don't experience any, just advantages.
@@mariekeoosterom8793 If you take it every day the effect is dulled. When I have a heavy day of work then I'll take 200mg. I work to give myself days off in order to increase the effect when I do take it. Often times I'll just take 100mg. But to dismiss it on the basis of this study is quite harsh. The consultant neurologist who prescribed it to me has first-hand experience. Additionally, it is the drug of choice for many university students.
